I'm also not fond of the load times as it is, but I'm not sure if having an SSD would make the costs acceptable for Nintendo.
Eh, I haven't really had much trouble with load times on the Switch. The only time it was kind of a problem for me was the King Dice fight in Cuphead. Even then I think it's possible the processor was more of a bottleneck than the storage type.

Is there a Nintendo franchise with less appealing character design than Splatoon?
Wario games
The enemies, sure, but definitely NOT the women

Less than 2 weeks to go:

Is there a Nintendo franchise with less appealing character design than Splatoon? I can't think of one even close to as bad.
Some of the designs are ok, like DJ Octavio, Crusty Sean, Iso Padre, the new stingray guy, and the jellyfish. And the Salmonids.

They have a nice goofy design.

Sorry for the double post, but a new trailer for Kirby’s Dream Buffet just dropped. It looks great, and it’s online, which is a nice surprise given Nintendo’s spotty history (though come to think of it, every Kirby spin-off since Battle Royale has been online). I really like how the race mode takes the Excite Truck approach of “completing the race first gives you a big bonus but it’s not the defining factor”.

Also, the 30th anniversary concert is out now. The 25th anniversary concert was great, so I’m really looking forward to this one.

If it comes out that Armor Games went to Nintendo to pitch "Sushi Cat's Dream Buffet" but got reworked after Miyamoto found out about it.

I wouldn't be surprised at all and joke aside it would explain a lot.

Not really, it's easier to connect it to the gamemode "Gourmet Dash" in Kirby Super Star than some obscure mobile game.

Literally the only similarity is that you eat food and you're in a race, it's a decent minigame but I had to clarify on YouTube that I was looking for Kirby Super Star Gourmet Dash so it's not amazingly popular either.

Yes, Sushi Cat isn't anywhere to level of a Kirby game but it and it's sequel was put on free game sites and was a pretty decent game as well.
this was the second result on google.jpg

Anyways not too sure why you didn't bring up Canvas Curse, Rainbow Curse or Kirby's Dream Bowling at all, as those are more similar to Dream Buffet and are obviously where the DNA of the game truly lies.

And that's not bringing up "Kirby's Dream Bowling" which was a prototype for Kirby's Air Ride and seemly a 3D remake of Kirby's Dream Bowling, looks like there was also power-ups involved in the game so it's not a stretch to say that it may have been inspiration for Dream Buffet.

I can appreciate the golden days of Flash, but Sushi Cat isn’t exactly a Flash legend. The main idea is clearly to flesh out Gourmet Race into a full game with some modern twists.
No idea where Canvas/Rainbow Curse would come into play, either. If you’re saying it’s because Kirby is a ball in those games, even the Game Boy had multiple spin-offs where Kirby is a ball. And what’s Dream Bowling…?

Are you kidding? Almost every modern kirby game and smash bros has a remix of the minigame's 1st stage theme somewhere (I'd imagine the anniversary concerts also have some of their own as well). It may not be popular to the fanbase but HAL Labortories and Sakurai certainly love it.

Like @Two Dollars said, the only connection to canvas curse and the like is the fact that kirby is a ball and even then ball kirby existed in spin-off games before those.
