I can appreciate the golden days of Flash, but Sushi Cat isn’t exactly a Flash legend. The main idea is clearly to flesh out Gourmet Race into a full game with some modern twists.
No idea where Canvas/Rainbow Curse would come into play, either. If you’re saying it’s because Kirby is a ball in those games, even the Game Boy had multiple spin-offs where Kirby is a ball. And what’s Dream Bowling…?
Exactly, it has that in common with those games, and the only one I'm pretty sure I missed was the Pinball Land which I think is what you're referring to when it comes to the Gameboy spinoffs, also there was a ball power in Kirby's Adventure which was the first Kirby game and was obviously the inspiration for Canvas Curse.

Anyways I could be wrong, I think there could be more "Kirby as a ball" kind of games out there on the Gameboy but I guess that's it, anyways if you don't know what Pinball Land even is, it's the game with the weird ass clay Kirby commercial.

Are you kidding? Almost every modern kirby game and smash bros has a remix of the minigame's 1st stage theme somewhere (I'd imagine the anniversary concerts also have some of their own as well). It may not be popular to the fanbase but HAL Labortories and Sakurai certainly love it.

Like @Two Dollars said, the only connection to canvas curse and the like is the fact that kirby is a ball and even then ball kirby existed in spin-off games before those.
That would explain why the theme is the first thing that comes up when searching for it.

Anyways I find it funny how you left out that he said Rainbow Curse as well only has a connection with Dream Buffet because Kirby is a ball, thing that doesn't work as well because if you look at the design they use in the game it's basically the same as the one in Dream Buffet.

And Rainbow Curse is a semi-sequel to Canvas Curse as well so again it shows that this idea has been around for a while and Dream Buffet is yet another game in the line which isn't a bad thing but again the connection isn't as small as you said it is.

Either way, I can see how it's connected to Gourmet Race but I also find it strange how both of you act like it has nothing to do with "Kirby as a ball" kind of games when it obviously does.

Btw @Two Dollars, Kirby's Dream Bowling is like Sonic Labyrinth but a lot better.

I put canvas curse and rainbow curse under the same umbrella of game as it's pretty much a mini-series at this point.

I don't deny that, I just acknowledge that it's only that way on a surface level aesthetic sense. It's a spin-off after all and that seems to be the design philosophy for some of them.

But this is obviously a "what if we made the gourmet race a full fledged racing game?" game.

Splatoon just feels like it was purposefully designed for pedophiles
Is there a Nintendo franchise with less appealing character design than Splatoon? I can't think of one even close to as bad.
I liked the designs in the first two games for the most part. Callie and Marie had great designs, and so did Marina. Pearl's design was rough, but after awhile I grew to like it as it fit her shit-lord personality well. These new designs man, all of them are just awful. Every shop keeper looks like ass or generic af and they replaced the great old intro stars with Deep Cut, who, besides Big Man, look awful.
The sad part is, returning characters look great, which makes the terrible new designs stick out more.

I feel like with the old hosts developers at least attempted to make them look like adults. Also to add, there is a petition already to get rid of the new hosts:

I just want Pearl back. I swear to god if she is relegated paid DLC.

Im sorry, they're hideous monsters, each and every one. The black big headed one especially, it is probably the only Nintendo character who will be exempt of r34, it won't even get any ironically like Waluigi.

I’m the one who mentioned Pinball Land in the first place, how would I not know what it is?

Kirby has had the same design since… what, the GBA? And as far as art goes, this has the same art style as basically every game since Return to Dream Land on Wii.

The fact that there are so many ball Kirby games is exactly why the connection is insignificant. That’s like saying Forgotten Land is inspired by Epic Yarn because they both have Meta Knight; it’s an insignificant connection that’s shared by many other games.

There are 11 different games, not counting Dream Buffet, where Kirby becomes a ball (the wiki skips Rainbow Curse for some reason), and it’s a major gameplay mechanic in nearly all of those.
Either way, I can see how it's connected to Gourmet Race but I also find it strange how both of you act like it has nothing to do with "Kirby as a ball" kind of games when it obviously does.
We never said it had nothing to do with “Kirby as a ball” games, we said there are so many of those games that saying this takes its main inspiration from any one of them for that reason alone while ignoring the many other ones is pointless and makes no sense.

Are… are you talking about Dream Course? Because that’s golf, not bowling.

The squid characters in Splatoon are mega popular in Japan though, and there won't be a shortage of fan-arts even for the new characters.
Also if the COMG! Japan pre-order charts are of any indication, I could see Splatoon 3 already selling a million retail copies over there within the launch week.

It's the Japanese title (Kirby Bowl) and I just mixed the games' names up, also the game does have elements that could be considered bowling like knocking over the enemies and the wiki puts that out as well.

Anyways here's a meme about Dream Buffet by King3dede that I found funny.

Not strictly Switch, but I'm finally finishing up Nirvana Initiative and I don't think I've been this disappointed with a game since Fallout 4. The first game is one of my all-time favorites, but they seriously dropped the ball with the sequel. A muddled, confused, sloppy mess that was a product of them trying way too hard. The big shoehorned twist(s) at the end didn't flip on a light switch for me, it just pissed me off more than I already was. On top of it, they sanitized the fuck out of the script and took away a lot of the humor that made the first one so great. What a fucking shame.

On the subject of Kirby, here's to hoping Kirby and the Forgotten Land might get some dlc (even if it's just a few extra copy abilities). The developers also said in an interview after the game's launch that they plan on making more Kirby games in that style, so hopefully we won't have to wait to long on a sequel/the next mainline game.

Looking forward to seeing the development team expand on 3D Kirby gameplay potential.

I'm still playing through Triangle Strategy, its a bit of a slog and I keep putting it down but I'm about 2/3 of the way through.

You know how I complained about the bad voice acting? How little did I know. This game is basically a bad visual novel with some SRPG battles thrown in to mix things up. Seriously, for every battle there is like an hour of exposition so you have to sit through the worst fucking line reads in the history of gaming for hours on end. The story doesn't really help, it tries to be a big boy Game of Thrones story but mostly comes across as super generic and in placed downright stupid.

The gameplay is mediocre. The battles are pretty fun but the character customisation is non-existent. Each character has a generic class, there are two item slots for generic shit like increasing Strength by 1 point (no weapons/armour) and some linear upgrades. So you are on rails the whole time with no meaningful way to customise your party. The game is also very poorly paced and you are forced to grind non-story battles. I would understand if it was optional if you wanted to mix up your party but I use the same characters for every encounter and still end up under levelled for every story event. The only saving grace is if you lose a story battle you keep your XP so if you get wrecked because your level is too low at lest you keep the levels you gain during the battle.

I honestly can't believe the praise this game got and all the glowing reviews. For most people I don't think its worth playing, let alone worth buying. If you have an itch to play an SRPG just wait for Tactics Ogre, even if it is just a direct port of the original it will be far superior to Triangle Strategy.

Thank you for reading my spastic ramblings review.

They fucked up Octopath too, I don't know how they keep getting away with it.

I completely agree, I had to force myself to finish it, the worst part is that I was actually kind of exited for it.

Regarding Triangle Strategy: I completed a run, but gave up pretty quickly in my second playthrough. It just felt like too much of a chore, and it felt sluggish even by the methodical standards of strategy RPGs. I like the look and the mood, but that wasn’t enough to hold me. I kept wishing that I was playing a new Final Fantasy Tactics, and that’s what they should have used this art style on.

Triangle Strategy was one of those games that the internet got super hyped over, only for discussion about it to completely dissipate the moment it was released. At least they put out that demo, which I tried, and felt like I had played something completely different than anyone else, because it was trash garbage.

Great, so they made a game that carbon copied Final Fantasy Tactics' aesthetics and style, but completely and utterly ignored exactly why Final Fantasy Tactics was so compelling. What an awful game.

Its amazing how Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced, a game from the gba released in 2003, feels so much better to play, I keep wondering what even was their focus tbh, the gameplay sure as hell wasnt, and if it was the story then let me tell you that it was a big waste of effort.
