All I know is that I'm going to have a great time wrecking manchildren in Smash Bros. and Mario Kart and making them throw their limited edition controllers at the television.

They should've made this thing the new default model and give the original and Lite models a discount.

As it is, charging more for a slightly larger screen, better kickstand, and more storage makes this a rip off.

Watch, I bet they're not going to bother with making better Joycon sticks just to spite us some more.
I don't think it's entirely a rip-off depending if the Switch is (or will be) one's current main game platform and primarily used in handheld/tabletop modes, which truly benefit of the enhancements. But I do agree it's definitively an expensive upgrade for a "premium" version that lacks of a matte screen for better outdoor uses and who knows about the build quality yet.

There are also the supposedly better speakers within the OLED model, but I would need to check that for myself how they compare against the base model, specifically with rhythm games that I'm quite fond of.

The screen is a bit of upgrade and downgrade at the same time. Sure, it's a larger OLED screen, but it's still a 720p screen with games that have a tendency of dipping below that.

I heard praises about the Lite since it's got a higher PPI from the smaller screen, the OLED would essentially wind up being the inverse of it.

As for the speakers, they do definitely look bigger, though the new placement has them facing downward going along with the curve of the panel instead of facing directly forward.

Yeah, but the Sega seal of approval isn't worth jack shit these days, are you sure it's actually good?
From the ones I bought:

Wired Genesis pad: Absolutely great for what it is. They even added triggers at the top so it's more compatible with modern games.

Wired Saturn pad: They were selling these at a discount because they screwed up the shoulder buttons at the top.

Wireless Saturn pad: Again, great for what it is. Only issue is that the battery is shit and will die after a week of non use.

Overall Nintendo is still a dumb company propped up by their fanboys.

I wish I could buy that N64 Controller. I do not mind the high price; I just do not wan to buy a subscription of an online service that I am not going to be using at all.
...then again, that may be by design.

By the by, I hope tha the controller has Rumble support one way or another.

Why? the n64 controller is one of the stupidest controllers ever made. I've got like 6 of the fucking things. Only two of them has a joystick that doesn't make you want to smash the fucking thing. Early 64 games had this problem where they made you spin the fucking stick really fast(mario party, mario 64 etc.), inevitably causing your controller to die. Also the pad being up on the left and the whole fucking design. Worst fucking controller i've ever owned and used.

Going back to my original model 3DS after my New 3DS broke was an odd sensation, everything looked a lot better due to the screen being so much smaller.

Speaking of which, I used to not be so bothered by low-res screens, but the New 3DS was frustrating with just how shitty everything looked, especially since the New model came at a time after phones had already surpassed 1080p.

So yeah, you're probably right with it looking a little worse, with how the OLED screen will show off just how low-res the Switch really is. I'd imagine to anyone with an OLED phone, everything will look a little muddy on an OLED Switch. On the other hand, anyone whose never used an OLED screen will probably love it.

They did in Europe lol.

Oh my God you need to die.

I'll sign you up for the first round of mercy killings.

Killing me won't make them non shitty controllers with control sticks that that eventually turn to shit. Every round of multiplayer games started with a rush to grab the non broken controllers cause getting stuck with one of the wobbly stick bastards sucked.

How about you just come over and play some GoldenEye instead. I'll let you use my translucent purple controller. You might not be able to turn left though.
When I was at a game selling convention before the pandemic hit there was somebody there selling kits to fix busted joysticks on n64 controllers. I never needed one in my entire lifetime of owning an n64 since I was like 3 years old but like a year or so ago my stick got a bit wobblier than usual so now I'm concerned. I have no Idea how I got lucky for this long of the controller not fucking up.

The Brawler 64 is superior to the original N64 controller in everyway. You could play those sadistic minigames in Mario Party 1 without boring a hole in your palm on one of those. The OG is truly the armless, droopy eyed child of console controllers.

OG gave people actual thumb issues from mario party to the point they had to give out free controller gloves I'd say that's a bit more powerful than "armless droopy eyed child" even if it got floppy with age and use.

Anyone have recommendations for a third party joycons?
After replacing my sticks for a second time I broke the lock off of a ribbon cable and now my r button doesn't work very well. And I'd rather pay the chinks for a third party controller than Nintendo for their bullshit.

My fucking Snes and all it's controllers still work ffs.

Not really. The parts will be essentially the same, they're just that cheap. There's a sea of joycon replacement parts, no need to reinvent the wheel in attempting to make a 3rd party joycon.

The hori split pad pro works pretty well if you're fine with the form factor.
(hori split pad pro)

If you're looking for similar third party options without the style of joystick on the regular joycons, look for the four notches on the sides of the analog stick and avoid the ones that have those notches, those are the same ones that nintendo's using.
