Sorry for the delayed response:
I mostly agree, but the Mario cast feels pretty good and like themselves. There may be a few random seeming moves like Luigi's fireball being unlike how it is in any other game, but I feel like that's become a part of his character, kinda like how he essentially got his floaty jump from a non-Mario game (Doki Doki Panic).
The personalities just feel off for many of the characters. Bowser and DK in particular have it rough since Sakurai views them as serious bosses, so rather than their in-game voices they get generic Godzilla/Kong noises. (Diddy and K Rool are also bad, but to a lesser extent)

Luigi is always portrayed as 'weird.' I am not sure what is up with him and them deciding he should randomly plank and Luigi rocket. Brawl went the extra step with that bizarre interpretive dance he does for his Final Smash. He seems off in many areas compared to his usual cowardly/lazy self. (Also, the fire ball is actually a reference to Mario Bros arcade, so that part isn't completely inaccurate)

Smash tries really hard to make Mario menacing. Dude is a complete 180 from his usual cheerful self.

Peach is just a damsel in distress parody.

Wario, well, he is the second most discussed character for being completely off for a reason. Rather than go with a move set based on Wario Land/World, they instead based him around Ware, except he doesn't even fit his personality from that series either. I remember fans complaining how Smash warped Ware into being a fart joke series. Wario in both series is usually lazy, but has extreme energy when greed takes over. He is a muscle man, whereas Smash has him as just being gross for some reason. Why have Wario be an agile strongman when he can make poopy and bite people.

I think a lot of these were personalities were fine back when they were first introduced in Melee, but nowadays they feel jarring. This is only made worse by recent additions being largely faithful: Rosalina, Bowser Jr., Daisy.

I couldn't disagree more, personally. Star Fox and Metroid would be reduced to/stay at 1 character, we'd probably never get Golden Sun or Pushmo in, but we'd be flooded by Animal Crossing kids & animals and squids from Splatoon.

I think there should be a more even balance across the board, not perfectly even but no more than 3 per franchise and at least 1 for others (this is assuming they whittle down the cast size, ideally we keep as many as possible).
Actually, I am mostly on the same page. I think dividing up the roster into tiers would be better overall.

A tier, these are the heavy hitters that don't have a true cap as to characters: Mario, Pokémon, Zelda and potentially Kirby?
B Tier is 3-5 characters: DK, Wario, AC, Splatoon, Metroid, FE, Xenoblade and Pikmin
C tier 2 characters: Kid Icarus, Star Fox, F-ZERO, EarthBound/Mother
D Tier - single rep franchises

Taking this as Ultimate's current roster (89 charcters), this would heavily clean things up across the board. A franchise like Star Fox really shouldn't have as much roster space as Kirby and FE definitely should not have more than Zelda and Kirby.

I only agree to a point. I think virtually every Nintendo IP should get at least one representative before any 3rd party gets in, but we also don't need to scrape the bottom of the Nintendo IP barrel at the expense of better 3rd party choices like Sonic.
If we are talking characters that should really be there by now, there are plenty, which makes plant and many of the returning characters all the more retarded.

If it were up to me, Mario should ditch Dr. Mario and Plant and give us Captain Toad/Toadette and Waluigi instead. This would complete the main cast finally.

In speaking about characters that should be there, barring Toad as already mentioned, we really should have gotten many of the 3rd/4th main characters. Zelda should have gotten Impa at some point as she is one of the few to be consistently part of the franchise. Dixie Kong was literally a main protagonist, yet is completely absent. Bandana Dee is pretty much the chosen 4th Kirby character and it is weird to not have him with the rest of the Dream Land squad.

Wario also deservers another rep. They should have had Wario be representative of the Land series, then brought in Mona for Ware, maybe add Ashley as an additional fighter.

Bayonetta for some reason never really clicked either, not sure why. It doesn't bother me much but she just isn't a great choice imo.
Bayonetta comes off like the DEI hire of the group. She is neither a Nintendo icon, nor a gaming icon. By all accounts Dante should have been the one to represent her genre, if we are to go by gaming legend status.

The only reason Bayonetta was added was just so Nintendo can try and push her 2nd game, which was their big 3rd party exclusive at the time. The whole Smash Ballot thing was complete bullshit. In general, Bayonetta belongs with the Smash characters that are blatant advertisements that didn't age well: Roy, Corrin, Pichu, and Incineroar.

Not when it costs more than the Steam Deck and comes with more expensive games. Also, many of those features and functions are stuff people hate. Why pay more for a product you like less?
You are talking in circles. I am trying to help you fix your argument. It isn't working!

To an extend yes BUT it does not change the fact that an empty wallet is not buying anything. The Switch was a success partially by being affordable to buy one for each family member. The Switch 2 does not have that. The games cost too much too. It will sell FAR slower than Nintendo wants. At least on the software side. It will not be the indie darling that everyone wants to be in when the Steam Deck is around.
I hope you're right. I just don't underestimate the power of the Tendie cult when TotK and Pokemon SWSH/SV/LA literal sold millions despite all that vocal pissing shidding.

I could possibly see the "Switch 2 Edition" shit really confusing parents and potentially scare them off because even I had a hard time parcing it at first. This is purely anecdotel, but several years ago when there was some online pricing error, my friend and I went to get a *new* 3DSXL at Walmart when Target already sussed it out the error. I asked the clerk to grab 2 and he grabbed regular 3DSXLs and I was like, "Oh - sorry, it has "new" in the title.":story:
This is the type of stuff the general public's absolutely clueless on and what Nintendo's doing now has most confused already.

The lack of Dixie Kong despite Echo Fighters being a thing was honestly really surprising.
A lot of it comes down to Sakurai, and really wider Nintendo, not giving a shit about DK. The franchise isn't a Japanese IP, even if it was initially created in Japan. As such Nintendo barely knows or understands DK's popularity. It took the collective might of the Smash ballot to let Nintendo and Sakurai even know that people like K Rool . Even outside of characters, DK as an IP gets treated badly. Stages are only ever generic jungle theme (outside of 75M) and it took till Ultimate to even get the series an assist trophy.

It wbsolutely will confuse parents. Especially with the Box saying it contains the Nontendo Switch game and not the Nintendo Switch 2 game.

They should just have released them like they did BoTW on U and Switch. Or the games that released on DS and 3DS. Just call them Switch 2 games and then just add the update to the eshop. Don’t confuse everyone by writing a blurb explaining stuff not well on a box.

Because of what the box says I honestly want to see if the games can work on Switch 1 and the update comes on the cart.

The fact they’ve done this will not go well for them.

Not a Wii U I still have that and it probably works.
I was talking about my 3ds. You're misreading my post. 3ds prices will only go up. Back then I got them for 150-200 and next year I wouldn't be surprised if they go for 400+ since they stopped producing them.
Regular 3DS goes for 110 to 125 on ebay. Retro stores pricematch off of pricecharting, which uses ebay auctions, and thus also sell it for about 125, with that actually being on the high end.

Not really. The Steam Deck is cheaper and has access to Steam and whatever else you have pirated. Not to mention Steam sales and the fact that the games do not cost nearly 100 there. It is the better deal.

TotK is great. The new technology in there that allows phasing and fusing is actually stuff that is hard to program in a game. It is like OoT and MM. As for the Pokemon games, it is Pokemon rather than Nintendo. LA is good from what I hear.

Yeah, expect confusion no matter what. But hey, it worked for Playstation. Nothing is as bad as putting "new" in front of the 3DS though.

The Switch on the other hand is an ergonomic nightmare to use portably.
Grip peripherals usually take care of that issue. I've been using this one on my switch lite and it makes portable gaming 10x more enjoyable

Problem is that whatever pocket space it used to have is now obsolete with this thing on, so it's stays more at home than outdoors.

Even Xbox got it right.

This tells you everything you need to know: It’s a Series X (not Series S) disc, it’s optimized for Series X, but you can also play it on an Xbox One, and it has smart delivery so you can start playing quickly.

More recent boxes have a much smaller “Series X” icon since enough time has passed that it’s now implied, but they still say exactly what will run the game.

like i've played nintendo since the gamecube/DS/Wii days, but i swear with the massive populatry of the switch, Newfags swarm into the nintendo sphere and try to fake nostalgia themselves into like nintendo shit they never played (Mostly zoomers with their fake love for the gamecube)
I honestly hate the modern Nintendo fanbase, I know the past isn't perfect, but the 2010s fans of the late Wii/Wii U generation really were the peak. I am a Zoomer myself, but I remember when Nintendo was like the lame duck throughout my elementary and middle school years. I would always find some fans, but it was not a popular beast outside of Smash.

The new online community is dogshit. As you said, it feels like it is full of grifters now that fake being hardcore fans. That or the new political types: Splatoon and Animal Crossing are 100% gay shit now. Even the old boys suck now as they are either mostly dead (cjszero01), lost their luster (Wiiviewr), or are now politically charged retards (GameXplain and The BitBlock).

As for the GC, while I wasn't there to experience it while it was out, I definitely grew a love for some of its games as I would buy them from GameStop in the early 2010s. Chuggaconroy and his 2009 Sunshine Lets Play, really was a big driver to try out a large variety of titles. In saying this, people really dickride GC when it had a lot of issues. A lot of titles felt incomplete: Smash and Kirby Airride for me. It also had its fair share of complete shit titles, looking at you Pokémon Channel.

Even Xbox got it right.
Yeah. You don’t need an entire blurb not really explaining it.

A simple line underneath saying works on Switch 1 and 2 is all that is needed. Or you just cal it a Switch 2 game outright. Blocking the box art with a paragraph is bad. It scares people off.

Newfags ruin everything, they ruined PC gaming, and they're ruining the nintendo sphere
Modern “fans” ruin everything they come into contact with. The best you can do is just try to ignore it and keep liking what you like. I like Nintendo, even when they do retarded shit. The issue is modern “fans” of things treat them like they are literally a part of who they are as a person. You can’t just like Mario or Animal Crossing, you have to see how it touches on your Italian culture or your LGBT identity for some reason. But it’s not even just a video game issue it’s everything.

Honestly on the topic of the announcement today I think it was fucking stupid and feels like it was a Nintendo of America decision by one of their many activist types. Feels like a way to drum up political drama for no reason especially when the Nintendo Store won’t even give you an invite to pre-order until May anyway. On top of that Trump and the leader of Vietnam, where the system is being made are already in talks to work things out and the tariffs on Japan aren’t even related to video games and shit like that. Why not just keep your mouth shut until next week or just say America has to wait till May?
