I don’t really game but I bought a Switch last summer to play Zelda and the NES/SNES classics. I’m planning on picking up a Diamond/Pearl copy when it comes out next month because I played it as a kid with my cousin on DS and im long overdue for some feels.

Already the competition for this particular genre is saturated, you have retro compilations like Castlvania coming out, spiritual successors like Bloodstained, a ton of original takes like Ori and Gucamelee. So you have to ask what does metroid offer that these don't from a gameplay perspective.
Probably the story, at this point... And those robots hounding you down.

Lol dude I've got a Switch and around 50+ games for it. My entire Nintendo collection would put most people's to shame.
Post pictures or it didn't happen. It's hard to believe you considering your reputation as a disingenuous sony fanboy.
Also buying games is easy (some Steam users proved that firsthand), playing them is a whole different matter

Not falling for it Georgie, there's a reason why you people lost the revolutionary war.
Yeah, that doesn't help your case.

They're charging $60 for a 2d metroid game. So people are naturally comparing to other games that are also $60.

Anything 2d has a hard justification for AAA pricing.
It is 3D, sadly. If it were 2D it might have been a worthy buy. All that gay 3d modeling looks and plays like trash.

it's 2d as in perspective, I know it's lacking spritework and the 3d itself really doesn't look polished. Considering you have many game design companies that specialize in Metroidvanias like Team Ladybug, Nintendo seems to really have phoned this one in, it's unfortunate.

Yes, same thing happened with Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee.
except Lets Go turned the OG games into more of 'cinematic/anime' experience. Also Coop play and other minor gameplay changes like the pokemon appearing in the wild etc. make the game more than the typical upscale remaster that happens.

Look, there is nothing wrong about playing only a few games due of personal tastes and lack of sufficient free time. Pretending you have lot of games on the system for the sake of "gamer e-creed" (and as an easy way out when you're getting called out of your usual bullshit) with zero proof is honestly stupid.

Those are the games I've played for the past eleven months since I got the console. No More Heroes 2 is soon to be finished.

I'm just going to say that everyone acting like super wasn't a slow and clunky jankfest is unironically LARPing. I replayed the game a few months ago and the only features I missed from it were the run button and wall-jumping, everything else about the game is wonky; there's no sense of weight to any of your movement and samus feels like a balloon, everything looks muddy and there's little no contrast to help anything pop out, the game is retardedly easy to beat and the only challenge comes from finding hidden powerups and that's more a consequence of how the item indicator works in SM. I'm convinced that anyone who puts it on a pedestal is either just doing it for the sake of nostalgia or doesn't actually like difficult games. It's like the Melee of metroid games with exactly the same fanbase to boot.

If I wanted Super Metroid 2 I'd just play environmental station alpha, in all other instances I'd rather play something closer to Zero Mission or AM2R.

Yeah and half the internet is being bombarded with datamining, I'm not putting any new info out that can be traced back.

If amazon is getting hit, you damn well know Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo will be.

Should I trade in my switch for the OLED one? It would be about 123 bucks for the trade in

I've said this before somewhere on the farms, but I feel like a lot of Super Metroid die hards completely forget what the game is like if you don't spend 30 fucking years mastering it.

It was something that hit me like a year or two ago when I realized I had actually forgotten the *actual* way to run the game because I've spent so many years sequence breaking and doing all sorts of tricks. I legitimately forgot how much back tracking there actually is if you don't get the super bombs early and other shit because it just became so ingrained into me.

So like we'll claim that Super Metroid was "faster" or whatever, completely forgetting that it's only "faster" if you have spent years mastering the floaty controls and memorizing where the fuck all the enemies are going to be and stuff, but on a first playthrough you're going to get fucking destroyed quick trying to speed around.

I guess it could be said that it's a positive point that Super does allow that sort of mastery or whatever, but unlike most other fans I know I don't think it was intentional at all and is much more attributed to jank than design.

*shrug* if you want I guess. I personally don't think it would be worth it but if you do then why not?

1. Get a digital camera that isn’t part of a smartphone/cell phone.
2. Get a bedsheet and place it up as a backdrop.
3. Place collection in front of back drop.
4. Take pictures of said collection and save them.
5. Post here and actually back up one of your many, many claims you have made.

Dude the last metroid game that was 2d didn't even come close to costing 60 and I've got the special edition to it.

The whole point is, is that they're still pricing towards AAA pricing and many people don't consider 2d games AAA.
That was a 3ds game correct? 3ds/psvita games were historically $40. That would make sense.

Also, what's wrong with AAA 2d games? I would much rather pay $60 for a high quality 2D game than $70 for a bland Far Cry game that plays exactly the same as the other Far Cry games.

There's nothing in theory wrong with $60 AAA games, but the issue is everything in the 2D genre is mostly dominated by cheaper indies.

Like if Final Fantasy 16 came out and it was all 8 bit graphics and had an asking price of $60-$70 most people would scoff at it because there's a boatload of 8 bit RPGs that can be had for a couple bucks.

There are multiple companies already who specialize in 2d games like Wayforward. They're not asking 60 bucks for most of their titles. Metroid Dread really isn't the next step forward when it comes to metroidvanias and it really hasn't evolved much since the 3ds or even GBA.

First it was the file size, then it was "2D versus 3D," and now it's the price tag.

Why not whine about how bland the box art is, while you're at it?
