Yeah they're probably going to buy it (myself included if it's not what it looks like, which is a complete Breath of the Wild reskin with some things added) doesn't mean we have to bootlick Nintendo for charging upwards of 80 dollars with tax for a game running on an extremely dated and slow engine. They're charging the price because Microsoft and Sony are doing it, not because the development is more expensive or some other nonsense.

I still don't think this is Nintendo fan base stuff. Most Nintendo fanboys are glad to lick miyamotos balls and pay Nintendo 70 dollars for games, they rarely complain about price because they agree with anything Nintendo does without question like the man child boot lickers they are.
I get it but, again, you're not obligated to buy it. Just call it retarded and move on.

Buying anything for switch is retarded.

You can play anything on yuzu at 144 fps and increased resolution, mods and cheats and all the good shit. 70 bucks for an inferior experience, only on consoles, the land of retards.
The concept might be unfamiliar to you, but people don't abide by the same values as you do, and they can change over time. I prefer playing games on Switch (including third-parties) rather than my desktop PC because the versatility of the form factor suits my current lifestyle better. It's just a matter which device fits someone's needs and tastes better, and something like japanese games are virtually the same across platforms nowadays.

Being able to play a japanese game fully in its original language is something I value far more (even if I have to pay an extra 10€-30€ for an imported version) than framerate or resolution. You prefer higher performance and hacks on the other hand and that's alright, just remember though.

I think his point was more it's retarded to hand your hard earned money to a multi-billion dollar corporation that doesn't give a shit about its customers when you can have a superior experience and play the game for free. The free bit being the important part here.

I don't buy or pirate for whatever moral reason, just whichever option is convenient. Hacking/Piracy on Switch is very much limited for now, the same way it was for a long time with the Playstation Vita, and it wouldn't be possible for me to play online with japbros (on games like EDF).

I'm someone who shared lots of stuff legitimately bought on the Playstation Vita & PSP on NoPayStation, so this argument of "just download for free" to stand on a higher moral ground rubs me the wrong way. Like it's sitting on your ass and expecting others to spend money in order to do the bidding/sharing. No hard feelings towards you, just saying.

Otherwise, I believe his post was just being flabbergasted at people daring to play vidya on a different platform than his.

Maybe, but that can be applied to any product from a big company. If the game is good, regardless of the price, than I'd say it's money well spent.

Besides, everyone doesn't have access to a PC with the specs to reliably emulate Switch games (that and it's also very limited) nor are there people that would be fine with pirating the games.

I don't pirate Switch games. I'm just saying I think that's his argument. I do pirate older shit. My attitude is if it's out of print on physical media, it's fair game.

That's fine too. I have a large library of roms/isos for old vidya too.
The point I'm trying to convey is that people should be free to buy or pirate whatever they like and find convenient, no need to justify further reasons.

It's on the table if I'm buying it or not at this point tbh. Definitely not paying 70 if it's just a reskinned BOTW. IMO Nintendo really needs to do more things like the recent prime remaster. Nice price point and a brilliant game to boot.

I'm just saying because Arlo says this is the first time ever Nintendo has done this.
Well it had a special peripheral, like I said. If you are going games with add-ons there's Mario Kart Circuit, Ring Fit and Labo all just from this generation.

I can distinctly remember Squaresoft games being $80. That was also a time when $40 was considered a budget release.
My brother remembers my dad being pissed about how much SMRPG cost back in the day. He still got it for our birthday though. I looked it up years later and realized that it had only came out 7 days earlier.... thanks, dad.

Also, funny-enough, one of the few games we have that has actually gone up in value over the years, as we kept the box and (very chewed up) manual.

Nope. It's 2024 now, and aside from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, it hasn't gotten a single exclusive JRPG. Everything has been on either Xbox or Switch as well.
And I believe it's a timed exclusive at that. The days of Sony hoarding JRPGs is over next gen (and already kinda is), when Switch 2 releases and if it does well, I don't see any Square, Sega, Falcom, etc games skipping it.

Sony will have to utilize their own neglected wealth of JRPG IPs or create a new one if they want something exclusive moving forward, which they don't seem interested in doing, especially for that genre.

Which is absolutely nuts. Don't Sonyponies love The Legend of Dragoon? I'm sure it would do well, but it's the kind of game I can't imagine a focus group would care for, so I'm sure they'll never bring it back. Same deal with Wild Arms. Now that's a game I'd love to see a properly well done remaster for.

Too bad the closest thing modern Sony would give us is some woke streaming crap. Because we don't have enough trashy dramatic preachy serialized TV shows!

Legend of Dragoon is a cult classic and a good game, but but most Sonyggers probably don't even know it exists, unfortunately. I'd like to see Wild Arms remastered too, especially the whole series since I only played much of the first one.

I forgot Sony is dipping into old franchises like Twisted Metal here and there to fuck them up in film form, I guess we might eventually really see a Brokeback Mountain-ized Wild Arms show someday lol

Well, David Jaffe is one of those ultrawoke retards, so Twisted Metal would be doomed no matter what. I know Sony squandered the PS3 reboot too, just kind of launching it without advertising and immediately declaring it dead before the end of its first month, so that franchise is all but dead. I'll bet there's a better chance of Activision making a third Vigilante 8 game.

Luckily I was never much of a fan of Twisted Metal anyway, but it'll never make sense to me such a woke faggot made God of War of all franchises.

The bigger the edgelord, the more extreme their 180 from everything they professed seemed to be.

Recharged my Switch and restarted AC:NH. Went through the menus and the island backup has to be the most convoluted fucking fix to not just having cloud storage I've ever seen. You need to pay the monthly fee to secure your island so that if your console bricks, which is a fucking nuts concept even being something you need to consider, you can BUY a new Switch and mail your old to Nintendo and theyll extract that 2mb save file for you and you can get it back on your new switch.

Paid. Monthly. Online. Subscription. More third-party games have cloud saving enabled than first-party games. And people defend this.
