Because Earthbound fans overshadow them. Just because both characters use a YoYo as a weapon, they immediately think either Startropics is the same game or an inferior game to Earthbound. Doesn't help Nintendo doesn't give it any attention even though its a 1st party title.
 
Look even Miyamoto has to justify existing in the current corporate climate, and since destroying what was left of star fox was many years ago, that will have to do.

In an unrealistic pipedream, Nintendo would have unlimited amount of competent employees being paid with huge amounts of money, and able to create a shitton of great games to all their available franchises (and I mean all even including very obscure ones such as say, Joy Mech Fight) and in that perfect world today we'd probably get like Metroid Prime 8 and maybe its 5th spinoff.

Realistically in the end Nintendo is just a game company and they are doing what they think gives profits to the company. There's tons of new games which are in development right now for Nintendo (which I hate that this obvious fact has to be brought up), and it also doesn't help that nowadays some of the stuff Nintendo put out are in incomplete states to be later fixed with free updates (looking at you, Mario spinoff games on the Nintendo Switch), and when you take all of this into account I don't know why these fanboys act as if Nintendo is ignoring them when there's so much shit going on and this is something not as simple as its fix being "just hire more staff".

Besides, Nintendo has been reviving some franchises here and there like giving remasters to some franchises like Advance Wars and even Famicom Detective Club and I don't even know why Metroid is brought into this conversation especially that we got the Metroid Samus Returns remake on the 3DS and Metroid Dread.

I'm of course obviously not saying that we should bootlick Nintendo for every single one of their decisions, I'm saying that there needs a line to be drawn between what is understandable and what isn't, and whining to Nintendo about why they are still making Kirby games is dumb.

The fact that people care more about the branding than the games themselves shows how retarded it all is. You can't give everything a game unless you hire everyone as a developer and if you do that quality will plummet. And most people want their pet series to be the one given the special treatment when that's just not possible. The example that I always use is Animal Crossing and Splatoon, you can only get one at a time because the same development team is responsible for both of them. Animal Crossing went so long without a new game because the team put Splatoon (and Splatoon 2 as a barebones upgrade and Arms as a side project) out instead. You can't have both.
 
That's the problem when you have internet autists treating game companies like omnipotent single beings, that can create vidya by a snap of fingers somehow, then vent their frustration due of their shattered delusions.
 
The only thing that keeps Nintendo from dominating the gaming market is literally Nintendo. Through their retarded copyright law, proceedings against the fans and self imposed limitations of their franchises.

Bitch please that's the handheld console market, till now Nintendo had pretty much the monopoly on that. But guess what steam released. You get pretty much no r rated games on the main franchises besides some ports, nintendo developes and sells games only to themself and their agressive behaviour against lets plays etc. still doesn't change. Wow, already within the first sentence you've proven yourself to be retarded. The Switch is not a handheld. It's a hybrid console. The console itself is a tablet that can either be docked for use as a home console or used as a portable device. If the Switch were a handheld, why even bother making the next mainline Zelda, Mario, and Metroid for it?

Sales don't equate to a good fanbase, a million flies will gladly flock to the newest pile of shit. Nintendo fans are the Marvel fans of the video game market, they'll lop up whatever is laid before them regardless of quality because protecting their precious brand image of being "the best" and scoring brownie points on social media is more important than demanding Nintendo to not DMCA non-profit fan projects or sue rom sites for millions of dollars. Don't think, just consume. Fuck rocking the boat, just love your corporate overlords, goyim.
