Nintendo, all I want is for you to make a Mario and Zelda game like the new Turtles game or Sonic Mania. Why can't you be cool and fuel my midlife crises, Nintendo?

It's comparatively easy and cheap, it's a bit surprising companies are not raping our weakness for nostalgia more. I'd be hyped for an 8-bit Pokemon game even if it was as mediocre as they've been for decades now.Nintendo, all I want is for you to make a Mario and Zelda game like the new Turtles game or Sonic Mania. What I said is literally (not figuratively) true. That's hyperbolic. The series is mediocre at worse and most of it's flaws are prevalent throughout the franchise.
Regardless, my point still stands. What I said is literally (not figuratively) true.
It takes a bit of digging, but there are some absolute gold levels in Mario Maker. One of the best parts is seeing how people are able to manipulate the assets to pull off things like boss fights and dungeons.I think Mario Maker is kind of close to those games though.
No it doesn't.Regardless, my point still stands.
I remember what happened to Assassin's Creed after the first game: the series turned to liquid shit.Wanting new/biyearly releases is a real monkey paw anyways. Remember what happened to Assassin's Creed after 2?
They tried it with NES Remix on Wii U & 3DS, but it never really caught on. Same with the 3D Classics line on 3DS. Other than those, New Super Mario Bros was supposed to be the 80s baby nostalgia wanking, but again, after Wii it sort of just missed the mark to make much of a long lasting impression. It's comparatively easy and cheap, it's a bit surprising companies are not raping our weakness for nostalgia more. Other than LBW none of those really used sprites though, and a few of them were just baaaad. The nostalgia-bait should ideally be good, that gives you the Sonic Mania reaction as opposed to the Sonic 4 reaction. They tried it with NES Remix on Wii U & 3DS, but it never really caught on. Throughout the Wii U and 3DS era, probably starting in the late Wii era, Nintendo really tried to play into nostalgia. Metroid Other M was supposed to be Fusion 3D, NSB was just 2D Mario again like the NES, and Yoshi’s New Island was Yoshi but 10x more insufferable. Some worked like Tropical Freeze and Link Between Worlds, but most were pretty bad or forgettable.
I think the problem with Nintendo doing it is that there really isn’t an audience to justify it. None of their series really got bad per se. Franchises like Sonic and Mega Man benefit as their series became cluster fucks of middling to bad quality later in life, but most Nintendo series stay consistent if not go uphill with time. Why back pedal with Mario after Galaxy, doing so just made the series seem stale, hence why 3D Land/World we’re not met with as much praise. Going forward, doing new things was really the healthiest thing for many of the franchises, hence why Mario, Zelda, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, Metroid, and Kirby are in really good states currently even if you don’t fully love the new entries.
All this stuff came out a decade or more ago. These things were Nintendo's Sonic Generations, not their Sonic Mania. They tried it with NES Remix on Wii U & 3DS, but it never really caught on. I guess my point was that I don’t think there is that much of an audience for it. Nintendo blew their load hard during the Wii U era to the point where most fans seem to have a certain level of distaste for the NES/SNES. Even Mario Maker, which @SSj_Ness used as an example, had low sales come the Switch, which is pretty unheard of for the system. All this stuff came out a decade or more ago. I'm talking a 2D, sprite based game that uses pixel art that resembles the classic games but has graphics that were never actually possible on the old systems, that remixes the levels and mechanics from the old games while peppering in a few new levels and mechanics.
I think @SSj_Ness was right when he said Mario Maker was kind of close. Just take the redone sprites for Mario World along with the new mechanics like the helmets and stuff, make a 50-level game that's a mix of new levels and remixed ones from the original with a full map screen and all that jazz and slap it up on the e-shop for $20, Nintendo, I will buy it.
We got the one and only good game in the series - Black Flag.Wanting new/biyearly releases is a real monkey paw anyways. Remember what happened to Assassin's Creed after 2?
This pissed off the Xenoblade fanbase who rightfully pointed out that the last new Xenoblade game was in December 2017. Meaning the gap between 2 and 3 is about four and a half years, which is actually a pretty big gap (especially when the series doesn't get spinoffs).Fire Emblem continues to mindbreak scrimblos simply by getting new entries.

This is not what I expected to come from a new mainline FE being leaked but it leaking into the wider Nintendo space like this has been pretty funny.
Shesez has been retarded for a long while now and maybe always has been.Also. Shesez is fucking retarded there.
Not quite true if you count Torna. That was released in 2018 so that makes it three and a half years later, which is still a fair chunk of time. This pissed off the Xenoblade fanbase who rightfully pointed out that the last new Xenoblade game was in December 2017. If you want my theory as to why Xenoblade was also chucked in there: They're a bit salty that BOTW2 got delayed into 2023, but then a week later, Xenoblade 3 was announced to be releasing two months earlier than they originally said.
Also. Shesez is fucking retarded there. How you going to include a game you literally can't buy anymore (and could have been chucked on NSO tbh), and a warriors game that's literally just "we had some spare money and threw it to Koei Tecmo for them to chuck something together quick".
Call me crazy, but I'm siding with Nintendo on this one (Though not entirely). For the Eshop games on 3DS and WIIU to be playable on Switch. Nintendo or whoever has made them needs to port the games and it's easier said than done.

Exactly! Nintendo has made and remade Zelda OOT, Majora's Mask, Link's Awakening, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword because there was a huge market for each of those games. Also the reason why Super Mario 3D All Stars even exists at all.I guess my point was that I don’t think there is that much of an audience for it. Nintendo blew their load hard during the Wii U era to the point where most fans seem to have a certain level of distaste for the NES/SNES. When it came to Sonic, there was very clearly an audience for it given Generations’ reception along with the tried and true “Sonic stumbled when it came to 3D” quote you hear over and over in every review. Nintendo games don’t really have that. And at this point, most of the fanbase’s nostalgia has moved onto the N64-Wii eras. I am guessing Nintendo just doesn’t see a market for it anymore given the Wii U’s blunders and the general lack of interest in anything pertaining to those eras like Switch online.
Literally who hates Kirby? Who? No particular reason, I just want to have a little.....Even big Nintendo classics like Pokémon and Kirby are half hated by these people, so the new anime garbage elicits rage never before seen because…honestly, who knows?
