The thing a lot of TTYD diehards tend to overlook is the sheer volume of filler. I tried to replay it a few years ago and it drags like crazy. The combat is still miles beyond the modern ones but good rpg combat can only take you so far when you're forced into 20 unavoidable instances of the same encounter to clear a dungeon.

If you just crammed TTYD combat and badges into origami king I'd expect it to be on the same pedestal as the first two games.

I am extremely disappointed that Nintendo was not behind the ~3,500 copyright flags and ultimate destruction of GilvaSunner's channel. Instead it was some rando. Nintendo deserved that scalp.
I never heard this. Who did it, and why?

What kind of doomed TTYD was the diminishing XP gains, tbh. But there's also an badge that eliminates random battles, but I forgot exactly where it is.

Everyone is hyped about Klonoa and pretending they knew anything about it before 12 hours ago.
Joke's on you, I actually played the Wii remake of Door to Phantomile back when it came out. Never got the chance to play 2 (emulation of that is.....kinda dodgy), so, yeah, I'm hyped.
The most annoying and hyperautistic sub-fanbase among Nintendo's franchises, are the Paper Mario fans, bunch of hysterical faggots. We get it, You like TTYD because it was your first rpg, shut up.
The Virgin Thousand Year Door vs. the Chad Skies of Arcadia. Fight me, Nintentards.

I played TTYD when it came out and had the same opinion. It was okay, I guess, but kinda dragged and not nearly as fun as the N64 game.

Double post, oh well.

I'm gonna defend Nintendo and shit on Nintendo fans.

As a company, Nintendo is great. I mean these dudes are just financial ninjas. Good times, bad times, popular products, failures, somehow, they're always turning a profit and keeping things chugging along. This is because Nintendo understands that toys are for children, and the best way to keep your toy company going is to continue making toys that kids like. And you know what? Kids don't like the same stuff as adults. They are way pickier about somethings and far more tolerant of other things. Like a 9-year-old kid does not give a rat's ass that an idea was done before in 2008. He wasn't even born yet, why should he care? On the other hand, being boring is intolerable to a kid. Nintendo does this great job with pulling in the kids with time-tested game concepts, gameplay loops carefully calibrated to keep prepubescent brains in a state of rapture, an inoffensive, sugar-sweet image that no mom in the world could object to, and managing their brand nostalgia so adults keep buying Nintendo crap for their kids. You've got an 8-year-old, what are you gonna do, not buy him Pokemon? And unlike every other game company, you know who else besides little boys likes Nintendo games? Little girls. Nintendo's just about the only game company that manages to appeal broadly to both girls and boys. Hat's off to those Nips. You conquered America with goofy-looking cartoon mushroom games.

Adult Nintendo fans are horrible for the same reason bronies are horrible. These are toys for children. Yeah, okay, there are a scant handful of them that are timeless in their own way. Mario 3. Smash Bros. You know the ones. Kind of like, even in middle age, I can recognize that Lego did a bang-up job with the Black Seas Barracuda. It's just a really cool-looking pirate ship. But okay, much beyond that, being obsessed with Nintendo? You're an adult who's still in love with children's toys. Stop it. Be normal. Grow up.

I am a giant baby. Give me more Nintendos. I want Mario! I want Zelda!! Give me more Part Time UFO!!!

Nintendo fans are more comparable to Disney fans. Both companies hold a giant image of being childhood to many, and so many cannot move past them and try to relive childhood vicariously through their products.

I think Nintendo’s fan base is a product of years of isolation and childhoods. The fan base has been hyper territorial since the Wii days when the “big boys” played COD. They propped themselves up on being “real gamers” for so long that they missed out on every experience other consoles brought just so they can sink into GC/Wii/Wii U #1. Add in a constant lack of 3rd party, and these fans are tied to only products of Nintendo or some nostalgic 80s/90s IP from when Nintendo still had partners.

Yeah this is true, it's also part of the reason why it's harder for non-nintendo series to get established. Very few third parties pull numbers on par with Nintendo's own titles. They're not really met with the same vigor or excitement either. SMT5 was bemoaned when it was originally released because it was very unfamiliar to the Nintendo fanbase at large. A large number of them are really just forever stuck in the past and have been for decades.

Yeah, I agree. Disney fans are more the "refuse to let go of childhood" types than bronies, who are pedophiles.

The thing about the Wii is...it came out 17 years ago. If you were in middle school when it came out, you're 30 today. Nobody cares about your "gamer identity." Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo are corporations run to make money. Grow the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck up.

I agree about that with the N64 and GC Paper Marios. What also makes me prefer the N64 over the GC one is the fact that the N64 only has a handful of RPG unlike the Gamecube. Paper Mario and Ogre Battle 64 are diamonds in the rough for what limited library the N64 has.
