I'm pretty sure by 6 I was able to read enough to play Link to the Past without getting too lost.

I'm pretty sure playing reading intensive games from a young age is how I tested as having a college reading level in 7th grade.

My friends daughter is like 7 and has trouble reading and speaking. Are kids just like getting dumber due to everything being voiced on tablets now or what?
It's more or less a case of how there's a growing trend of games being made easier because the stereotypical journalist can't be bothered to read a map or do some math.

Zelda games are mostly exposition with your next destination being displayed with a special marker on the overworld map, with an reminder from your partner with highlighted text, or an really obvious hint. Botw had a virtual notebook that kept track of the quests.

I think the only hard part a kid would have in a Zelda game would be the dungeons.

everything being touch screen since birth for them removes a fair amount of 'how does this work'...like in order to use a mouse and keyboard you have to understand some level of feedback dynamics. Touchscreen is the definition of 'instant gratification' interface. This generation is brought up on this idea which is why there is such a push for the hyper liberal progressive bs seen on tiktok/twitter. Add to that the older millennials are running with "My 3 year old said X therefore its True" crazy and our society, at least in part, is entirely incapable of reproducing what was done before it.

Prior to 2005-06? The internet was not this streamlined thing. Sure you could 'google' things but even then it was like crawling around a spiral staircase of information. Youtube is a great example as well. Now these people/kids only know how to exist inside a very small tunnel of existence.

Nintendo is primarly directed to children and most children actually enjoy playing Nintendo games.
The little but very loud minority of people bitching about Nintendo Games being not as good as they were back in their days do not represent the genuine Nintendo player.
Those crybabys don't play for fun but only to fulfill their desire to feel like children as the responsibilities which come in as being an adult are too much for their underdeveloped personality so the extent of repression get so much even their precious nintendo games arent thrilling anymore.
If you take Nintendo games seriously and want a challenge, you should not play nintendo games.

You cant wear baby shoes and complain why they dont fit afterwards.

On the other hand, Nintendo does actually do bad fanmanagement and is often too expensive. They tend to milk the least bit of money out of their customers purse.
Because they can. They know they're too big to fail and the kids and manchildren will demand their parents to buy them those games in the end anyway, despite the flaming about graphic bugs and uncreativity the games contain. They are craving for Nintendo and will buy it nevertheless and the zealot-like adult fanbase is in a stage of addiction they hate the drug but still stretch out their scars-covered stick arms to get the precious golden shot from their dealer.

Interesting how they’re getting a child a new, modified version of the Switch, yet not at least attempting to get a 3DS. I know they’re still selling on Amazon.

Most of the kid fans and adult like fans have submerged into one another over the years to the point where I see someone say “Video games are for everyone”, I sometimes would be bold enough to ask, “Are you really sure about that?”

Played Pokemon Gold before I could even read. Got past Whitney's Milktank with some trial and error. Got stuck at the Sudowoodo. Was able to figure out typings based on the color and features of a Pokemon. If an illiterate tard could do it, a six year old able to read about hungry caterpillars can.

Spyro Reignited is the better option. No kid can resist a colorful game about dragons.

Is funny how they improved the controller and the stick but the joycons of the switch are still hot garbage, they did not even bother to put something on the expansion slot so the transfer pack can go fuck itself, rumble is already inside but the stick is not compatible with the OG controller, the port is totally different

What, did people actually think they were going to recreate the expansion slot? Why the hell would they think that? And can't this Mario Kart ghost issue be solved with a patch to the software? Seems like a mountain out of a molehill. Aren't most of these complainers the ones that spent the last two and a half weeks bragging about all the video games they planned to steal? I don't trust any of the motivations of these people beyond wanting to stir shit for asspats.

Where the fuck is Rocket: Robot on Wheels, Miyamoto??

How hard would it really be for Nintendo to clone their own almost 30 year old hardware if they themselves still have the blueprints? I'm sure whatever emulator they're using would probably accept input from it.

Me too I never lost motivation to go on so. I was a little kid and even if i didn't figure out how to get sudowoodo out of the way, the Pokemon World seemed so big and full of secrets it was no big deal to stay grinding and exploring around the Goldenrod Area until I finally figured it out how to remove this nasty tree imposter to continue my journey.

I also remember Mario Kart DS having a very good AI. As a kid, the engine was harder to beat than winning races against my buddies.

A game has to offer some kind of challenge. If the children dig it they will prevail. Nowadays adults just don't want their offspring to be frustrated, but frustration is part of life.

What would an F-Zero game look like on the Nintendo Switch?
What it should look like. F-Zero GX with more tracks and the story line features of the latter GBA games.

What it would look like. Gen-X nostalgia with forced in waggle controls (or whatever the latest gimmick Nintendo is pushing) that ruins the gameplay.

Whenever people bring up F-Zero being dead, this comes to mind.
It doesn't have the Nintendo brand on it or any nostalgia value, so it might as well not exist as far as the Nintendo fanbase is concerned. In 10-15 years, it might start doing the rounds as some "hidden gem" in the retro Nintendo scene.

As for what it lacks. It doesn't have the full 30 man grid, only 8. The biggest knock against it though is that it lacks any kind of personality. The trailers feel flat and sterile.

I'm Europoorean, so we just mashed A on the gameboy until it didn't work, where we'd spam B. That shit worked and most of us cleared Pokemon and plenty of story-driven games like Final Fantasy. We learned English solely to communicate with people in our mmorpgs. Then again this seems based on culture, as you still see turks and brazilians just jump into a game and yell in their own language cause they never bothered learning anything else.

This is Trump's world. Everything is built and based on an innate ability to understand the God Emperor's tongue. And it's fucking abhorrent.

Imagine paying any sort of money for the worst version of certain n64 games then going out of your wat to defend it. Sounds good? Emulation has been mastered for well over a decade now nintendo come on.
