Mary Harron directed American Psycho which (in my opinion) is vastly superior to the book, and uses a number of techniques that I don't think I've seen before or since.
Then you've got Tina Fey, Roseanne Barr, Regina King, Amy Heckerling, Nancy Meyers, the duo behind Broad City and dozens of other incredibly talented female directors/writers/creators that for some reason these people pretend don't exist. The editing decisions with all of Willem Dafoe's scenes are genius purely on their own.
They had him act two versions - one where his character was incredibly naive, and assumed that Patrick Bateman was innocent. The second, where he was incredibly suspicious of Bateman and was subtly suggesting he was a suspect. Then, in the edit, they switched back and forth between the two performances - even Dafoe claims he's not entirely sure which cuts are from which performance.
It's a brilliant move and I don't recall any other movie doing something like that.

I have to admire the delusions in these posts. Humans are way too individualsitic to even think about separatism. Women and men are way too intertwined and connected to even separate from each other. MGTOW and Female Separatism are laughable because men and women are way too attatched to their close relatives and friends of the opposite sex to even think about cutting contact from them. I can't wait until I hear about them kicking out a woman in their separatist group for daring to disagree. Female separatists claim they "love" women, but damn do they seem so out of touch with the average woman.
Also, we men tend to boast and bitch to each other as well, it's human nature.
I was the only male in a female dominated university course and hardly of the females lifted a finger to help each other out with their projects or with the fundraising whatsoever. I've never dealt with a more rude group of people than some of the students in that year. Unfriendly and completely undedicated to actually trying.
In the last year, we were tasked with creating a fundraiser for the end of the year project. This wasn't an exactly very tight knit group of students. The girls hung around in small different cliques and rarely spoke or collaborated with each other. All of the responsibilities of fundraising and creating our end of the year showcase was left to one girl and I. I felt sorry in particular for this girl in my course. They either ignored me or didn't listen to anything I had to tell them but I didn't really care. This student bent over backwards for everybody else in the course. She was basically the emotional support labourer for every girl, listening to them vent about lecturers, hanging out with them, and going as far to help them write up their assignments. In the end, she felt incredibly resentful and she complained to me about the other coursemates for not doing their fair share of work for our project. I couldn't blame her. Most of the students were quite nasty and selfish.
