I miss the gritty, raw aesthetic from Skate 1/2. Skate 3's saturation makes it look dull in comparison.

To the surprise of nobody, the new skate. will not have an offline mode. I won't state the obvious on why it's a bad idea, so moving on. I do not like the direction this new skate. is going. From the pre-pre-alpha footage I've seen, it looks more like a ragdoll simulator than an actual skateboarding game. The product placement coupled with the microtransactions isn't there for authenticity, but rather to subconsciously sell you something. This reeks of corporate masquerading.

Loved Skate3 but sadly the new Skate game is a shitfest. I am just glad we got Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1&2. That will be my go to skateboard game for years.

I never liked Skate 3 compared to the first skate. The world and character models are saturated and plasticy for my liking. The original skate. art design had a laidback grit to it. San Vanelona feels lived in with the dilapidated old town district, modern suburban houses with empty pools and dirty streets with skyscrapers from downtown.

Everything I see about this game just screams that their intention is to make a clone of GTA V movement to be used in TikTok slop content, convincing kids to download it and buy the funny costumes. Skateboards are optional.
I'm seeing sponsered videos of the new skate. on YouTube.

I am not liking the cartoony character models. It looks like they're trying to recapture the accidental appeal of Skate 3's zany approach. I miss the grungy look from Skate 1 and 2.

The fact that it’s simply called “skate.” is a bit telling to me, since at least with the Tony Hawk series, they did manage to switch it up a bit. Even with criticism claiming that it was the same game, they still gave us “American Wasteland” and “Project 8”.

Either way, I’m looking forward to the gameplay and see if it’s not just another lazy attempt to copy and paste Skate 3 onto this new one. It’s hard to believe that it has only been five years since the announcement of it.

The name tells me that this is a reboot, contrary to what Full Circle may want to classify it as. The online-only approach is a turn-off for me because as proven time and time again, these live service titles don't resonate long-term enjoyment for the consumer. It should go without saying, once the servers eventually close, the game goes with it too.

I saw that you could parkour and combine it along with Hall of Meat animations into trick lines. I like that. EA also says there's no stats to improve for your character, so everybody will (theoretically) be on the same playing field.

Here's the early access trailer for the new skate.

I am not liking the direction this entry is going. Firstly, the art style. It's way too cartoonish for the skate. franchise to take. Secondly, why is the narrator talking as we're venturing into some mythical, fantasy world? The always online, live service approach for this title should go without saying.

Let's compare that trailer from the original skate.'s trailer:

The original skate. had a laid-back grit with its city and progression. You could mistake that for real footage from the time.

I have a friend who has been in the beta test for a while, and he says it plays just like the originals.
Okay, it still looks like Skate 3 than the original skate. I like the parkour skateboarding combinations, but that art style needs to go. It's too Fortnite esque.

This seems like it was made by people who didn't like skating when it was popular and don't get it now. The song choice, artstyle, and goofy British narrator just don't work. They would have been better off going for the skateshop VHS aesthetic like this
This seems like a Fall Guys DLC announcement.
Pretty disappointed. IDK maybe one day we'll get the Session devs to fix their engine and make actual content.

Early access skate. footage is now available to upload without watermarks. This does not look or feel like skate.’s original vision. People are saying it looks like The Sims 4 or Fortnite, they’re not wrong. The dialogue feels forced and Gen Z. The city doesn’t even look real; it looks like a toy box.

The color saturation is actually hurting my eyes in motion. Tony Hawk is trying to look like skate., skate. is trying to be Tony Hawk. The recent resurgence of skateboarding series tells us that they completely miss the point of skateboarding culture. Or that skateboarding culture has sold out.

I had beta access, its absolute ass. The skating itself isn't that bad, it isn't all of the features of Skate 3 though. It's not "realistic" feeling like Skate 2.
The map design is garbage. Imagine Skate without the map having a downhill aspect to it so you can cruise from spot to spot. Imagine empty areas without the cool tony hawk "lets put a quarter pipe here because otherwise its just wall". There's no mega park, much less multiple runs from top to bottom of an area.
There are few dedicated skateparks or areas dedicated to specific styles.
They have these empty areas with rotating "user creations".
You can't teleport anywhere you want, you have to unlock the locations...but you can teleport to people anywhere they are.
You can't skip the tutorial.
You can't skip replays after an objective.
There are only 3 maybe 4 objective types and none of them are what skaters would play. It's not like tony hawk where theres fun objectives mixed with points, or multiplayer modes like grafitti, or even "collect the combo". It's "collect these bolts in a line without falling and do trick HERE AND IT BETTER BE THE ONE I SAID.
The parkour works but all it does is access tiny rooftop areas.
No real skaters.
No real skate locations.
No themed locations like how old town in Skate 2 looks like barcelona.
No Darkslides.
No Flatland tricks.
No Wallrides.
No varials.
No deathraces.
No "get sponsored" story where you choose your path.
Infinite spin/flip easy flip catches.
No hall of meat, but there are "glide into this shit" missions.
The map is small, I think its smaller than Skate 1.
Vert doesn't work right.
