Holy shit, not even half a chapter before the cripple arc is fixed, those are some damn high stakes you got there!

Eh AOT fans are worse in that department, but MHA fans truly are up there.
AOT fans glaze Isayama but at least they are more vocal in criticizing him. MHA fans literally whine when anyone criticizes Hori. They also keep contradicting themselves.

When Deku lost his arms last chapter:

“See guys there are real stakes, and it’s so dark, no one will be calling this Disney now!”

When Deku gets his arms back this chapter and Hori rips off Endgame:

“Guys it’s fine, it fits THE THEMES, and being called Disney is a compliment. Stakes don’t make a story good, and you just wanted a tragic end, go back to JJK.”

Holy shit, not even half a chapter before the cripple arc is fixed, those are some damn high stakes you got there!
But MUH THEMES

Anyway this chapter really convinced me that Endgame really set the precedent for lazy finales and really hones in how the MCU pretty much is the blueprint for MHA

The worst that MHA fans get up to from what I've seen is denying criticism or even refusing to admit that the manga has sharply declined. It's pretty unspectacular stuff compared to One Piece's powerscaling cults, let alone Attack on Titan's shipping-spawned neo-Nazis.

Honestly it could easily be worse, I could be posting the delusional fujos that MHA spawned.

MHA has the most annoying fujos who treat the story as a romance manga and act like Bakugo and Deku's shallow relationship is the best love story.

And once again, AoT's got them beat considering one of its most popular ships is between a 30+year-old man and the 15-year-old boy he brutally beat the shit out of.

The ship drama is amazing, and I love how there's potential love triangle fuel for pretty much everyone in Class 1-A, regardless of gender. Though by now I'm sure everyone but the especially crazy have resigned themselves to know none of their gay ships will come true, and the only mystery left is who Bakugo is going to end up with since Ochako is being totally defined by her crush on Deku.

Though I do still hate how shallow Bakugo ended up being. The people who kept shilling him as "Sasuke but fixed" have no idea what actually went wrong with Sasuke, and in practice Bakugo's a crappy Vegeta clone that everybody loves in-universe even as he's setting their dog on fire.

True nothing could ever get to that level. Though its funny how Levi x Eren died out thanks to Erwin and Historia.

Hori also plays everything safe. Even if he were to do a gay romance, it would be with characters not many people care about. It doesn't help the same fans who whine about people to actually read don't see Hori is making a (poorly written) brotherly dynamic with Bakugo and Deku.

Bakugo used to actually be a fascinating character until the war arc (which applies for like a lot of this cast at this point), since he actually was atoning and feeling guilt for his actions.

But Bakugo is very shallow since Deku never once reflects on their bullying and glazes him instead which the narrative doesn't see as unhealthy, but Hori using Deku as a mouthpiece to praise Bakugo.

Bakugo also is given the thickest plot armor with how he has two fakeout deaths and somehow can kick AFO's ass with ease while having many bones broken.

But this is in service for MHA to become the Japanese MCU.

Bakugo didn't feel bad for his treatment of Deku until the intervention in 2021. The fight he had with Deku after the Provisonal License Exams was about Bakugo being guilty over All Might's retirement and seeing if Deku was actually worthy of succeeding him. Because Bakugo considered that fight his win, he didn't change himself. And then everybody in 1-A still loves him and thinks he's leading by example in the Joint Training arc even as everything out of his mouth continues to be insults and profanity.

I'm fine if Deku wants to keep being Bakugo's battered housewife, but it's really stupid for everyone else to aspire to be Bakugo's battered housewife.

Also calling this "the Japanese MCU" just feels lazy and uneducated. Like you don't even read other shonen, you just go for the biggest fruit on the orchard and bash it because you're raised exclusively on trending TikTok videos. Did you get bored of comparing it to the Star Wars sequels and decide to pick on the other Disney mega-franchise for "variety"?

I wouldn't be calling it the MCU if Horikoshi literally didn't blatantly acknowledge it multiple times between having literal Iron Man armor, applying Deku's powers to making him Spider-man, and basically ripping off the portals scene from Endgame. If Hori didn't do shit like that, I wouldn't even bother making such comparisons. Plus I just find those comparisons more fun to rag down MHA on.

Since its also obvious Hori took inspiration from Naruto and Bleach (like its no secret MHA is Naruto 2.0)*, it is very blatant that he takes inspiration from western media and plot points from it with Star Wars and the MCU in particular. Like I don't get why you're mad about this, when its stuff Hori has done since he's another westaboo author.

*Like AFO planning Shigaraki's life thing is just ripping off Aizen and Obito from Bleach and Naruto respectively, and stealing his (Shigaraki) place is just like what Kaguya did to Madara.

He takes visual inspiration from Marvel. The plot points he steals is all other shonens.
You know what, that's fair enough.

My mind latches onto the visual stuff more easily, and I just find using that more easy to rag on MHA since almost every manga takes inspiration from each other.

Is this travesty almost ending? And did any interest remain in anything after it became a ladder anime?

It is dragging its heals, but it will probably end in Summer.

The anime kinda dropped off in popularity due to how the production quality isn't that great, but I could be wrong.

Isn't the term "gateway anime"?
I read the term on /a/ a couple of years back and it was a good description to me, essentially he explained it as the "good and bad" guys being on different rungs on the ladder, where due to the author's writing incompetence and lack of planning, each group fluctuates very fast up and down until eventually there's no more power the author can give to the good side and they just win.

"Here's Deku with 8 more powers"
"But oh no, here's the bad guy with 1000% health regeneration"
"But all might has a gun now"
"But the bad guy JUST NOW became bullet immune"
"..."

You get the point, he was describing AoT at the time, but it also applies to this.

I can't find any reference to "ladder anime" or "ladder manga" looking through /a/. Your description isn't even clear about what the ladder is supposed to represent.
I don't even think that describes Attack on Titan. That story becomes more about factional infighting than about power level struggles, and the moment Eren becomes the strongest character in the show, he stops being seen as the hero of the story.

Bumping this thread to complain about how my nigga Stain was killed so unceremoniously and how rushed this entire final arc has been overall

Deku is so trash. He failed to save the guy he wanted to save, shrugs it off, and to top it all off he loses his quirk for absolutely nothing.

The worst part is that he barely thinks for himself and other people have to do the thinking and emoting for him. Fucking Bakugo has a bigger reaction to Deku losing his quirk than he does.

As for the final fight, Horikoshi just made a shittier version of the final fight from Brotherhood where everyone jumps the main bad guy whose a demon lord with bullshit powers down to it resolving because one of his former minions betrayed him and the MC punches him.

Oh and the MC loses their powers in the end. But at least it makes sense with Ed being okay with it, Deku just loses his powers but I am going to guess he's going to get Iron Man armor.

There's less than 10 chapters left and I am thanking god that I don't have to bother with this manga anymore or its dogshit fanbase.
