Most overrated games.

The fucking thing about sports games is that I've tried to play some of them like strategy games, but just can't break through a certain wall I can't really describe. Like there's some kind of mental block we all have that keeps us from appreciating them for what they are. Like I tried to play Tecmo Super Bowl on NES because American football seems pretty tactical, but for whatever reason I just don't "get it", and it just kind of feels like everyone who does like football just automatically seems to know what's going on, I guess from being exposed to it since childhood.

Speaking of overrated games, here's an overrated sports game: Golf Story. It's just a carbon copy of Mario Golf on GBC, which was an RPG with experience points in the exact same way, only Golf Story is a lot darker and you play as a completely oblivious retard who happens to be a savant at golf, and everyone else in the game is an obnoxious sadbrained faggot who's always tearing him down in subtle ways. The gameplay is good because it's a direct ripoff of an already good game, but the writing, setting, characters, all horrible. It's a lot like Stardew Valley, what with it being a good game only because it ripped off an old one, but everything new to it is insufferable. But I guess those games both get passes because muh indies and muh rightthink.

Shieet, you could argue that Undertale's a ripoff of Earthbound in the same vein, but it just adds so much to the battle system and has genuinely good writing and characters (albeit, that does depend on your tolerance for Homestuck-ish dialog), but Undertale's terrific and brings a lot new to the table. It tells a good story and keeps things light and jovial until shit hits the fan. Golf Story and Stardew Valley are practically romhack levels of unoriginal, but with a cast of insufferable current year NPCs that make those games flat-out garbage.

Because the updated roster has the popular athlete(s) of the year. it's basically a trenders game.
I had a coworker who got NBA2k19 just because some nog ball bouncer that was popular at the time.

Rosters is something that could literally just be updated with free DLC, rather than charging 60 dollars.

I can't imagine there's much, if any, graphical enhancements year to year, there probably needs to be a gap of a few years for there to be any noticeable difference in graphics.

So idiots are literally throwing 60 dollars away that could be spent on the many, many better games out there and are instead content on wasting money on the same exact game year after year.

But whatever, the nice thing about sports games and sports gamers is they are relegated to their own little niche that doesn't affect anything else, this isn't like SJWs where they want their influence to be felt in literally every single game that comes out and pitch a fit when a game doesn't.

They have to license the athletes, so that's one reason why they're yearly and always $60.

There's been a recent trend in EA's lineup where they'll release a "legacy edition" of sports games on older consoles, so the graphics don't change at all because you're just playing the same game as the older one but with an updated roster. Like for example, FIFA '14 was the only game to come out on the PS2, PS3, and PS4, but the PS2 one was the "legacy edition", so it was just FIFA '13 again. And they're still doing that, what with FIFA '19 being a legacy edition on the PS3 & 360, and then FIFA '20 being a legacy edition on Switch, despite '19 being the full game.

So that sucks if you care about FIFA games

And yeah I agree with sports games being their own niche. They also make for a whole lot of lightly-used consoles on the resale market, considering how many people buy a console just to play their favorite sports game and nothing else. And all those cheap Blu-ray cases for a buck a piece, too.

sports fans aren't usually known for having common sense when it comes to things outside of sports and i think the game company that shits them out knows that too. "Whats a Dee El See bro haha I'm gonna get the new madden bro! They added x bro!!!"

Harvest Moon has some dope music, so not even that.
Oh of course! I'm just saying stardew had more variety. But yeah, I never see people calling it out for how unoriginal it is. Almost every factor of the game has a direct parallel in HM.

Xenogears is a mess design wise and the only reason why it's so popular is fedora lords and 2deep4u tards. I wouldn't even mind it too much, but the game isn't even finished. People who bitch about day one patches should loathe this game for the 2nd disc alone.
I loved Xenogears fuck-if-I-know how long ago, but I have to agree. Goddamn that second disk was some seriously fucked up shit.

On the topic of Undertale: on the one hand, the game was pretty good. On the other, the fandom it spawned was the most pants-on-head exceptional of anything spawned by Tumblr. Beating SuperWhoLock and the bronies is no small feat.

Halo 2. Sorry but Halo CE is just a much better game. I guess it's unfair to just rate it as a game in 2020 because it more or less stands as a technical achievement as the first mainstream online game. But in terms of game and level design Halo 1 is better.

Also minor complaint but Master Chief's death sound effects in 2 make him sound like a bitch. It doesn't reflect the bad ass superman as portrayed in the story and lore.

I can get as far as understanding high-level what's going on but once I need to start paying attention as to why I should be playing defense with a 4-3, 3-4, Nickel, Dime, or when I should blitz based upon the configuration of receivers and the line it all goes out the window. Someone needs to make a football game for consoles/PC like Retro Bowl or Super Mega Baseball.

Metal Gear Solid. Plot from a bad cheap anime + characters from even worse anime + gimmicky stealth that hardly evolved since NES + retarded fanboys = why the fuck is everyone afraid of Metal Gears, if you blow up at least one every game with a rocket launcher?

Breath of the Wild is boring.

The "open ended structure" doesn't make me feel accomplished. Lots of wandering, and every shrine gave me the same reward. Same with korok seeds. So, even though there's something to do in every direction, the direction you go is arbitrary because you're always getting the same shit.

The story missions that give you the new abilities are all structured identically and the divine beasts weren't fun.

FIFA games sells a lot in poor regions so a legacy edition makes sense for markets that are 1-2 generations behind. There's also people that don't see the difference between better and worse graphics. A friend of mine is like that, he not tell the difference between CoD4 on the Wii and CoD4 on the 360 because he didn't understand what the criteria for "better graphics" was on the sperg level, he only saw the overall art design and theme that both games share.
It's like if someone printed a character on a blank postcard and on a poster then asked you which one looked better. They're the same. That's also true for every anime game ever made. Very overrated.

Regarding R6S being overrated, I literally can't get into it. My friends play it, so when I'm with them they're saying like "COVER THE GARAGE" and I don't know the maps at all, so I'm just running around not knowing where I'm supposed to go. There's no way to learn the maps without actually playing the game either, which makes it even harder for me to start getting into it. I can't even play solo because I'm still thrown into games where everyone knows the maps better than me. And that's ignoring the abilities the characters have, I played a free weekend and all I could pick was Recruit, so everyone else was doing crazy shit and it made me feel like a double-liability, cos I didn't have powers and I didn't know the maps. Haven't gone back to it since.

The Entire Fucking Spyro Franchise, Including The Original PS1 Trilogy, I’m sorry I know the series has it’s Fanbase and while the Games obviously do have good elements to them, The Vibrant, Colorful Graphics and Cute Memorable characters, Amusing Voice Acting And The soundtracks (Especially Spyro 3) Kick ass.

It’s just. I’ve always found the Gameplay throughout The Series to be just Fucking Bland and Vanilla With Boring Platforming and Mindless Collector-A-Thon Mechanics reminiscent of Cut Rate Rare Games, A la: DK64 & Banjo Kazooie, Yooka Laylee Etc. The Series Extremely weak PS2 transition, and that dreadful Skylanders Series certainly didn’t help it’s reputation.

My other Issues With Spyro Is that The Open worlds just bored me, Even in the original PlayStation Games The worlds Spyro Inhabits while Visually Appealing are so vast and barren with loads of pointless empty space and boring platforming justdesigned to fill up space for collecting more endless Gems, Also the Combat was always really repetitive, shallow ‘Rock/Paper/Scissors’ Style of fighting where you’d take down enemies and other dragons by just mashing buttons in certain ways till you win without ever really using any strategy to win. Hell even The bosses are mostly This Uninspired and Easy To defeat, It just comes across as way too simplistic even for a 3D 1990s Platform Adventure Aimed at kids.

Overall, The Games Have their Merits but I’ve no fucking Clue Why Sony Fans Hail It as One of the top PlayStation Franchises Like Crash Bandicoot , It’s absolutely Nowhere near The quality Of Crash, even with that Franchises more spotty reputation.

I disagree with most of your complaints, but you acknowledged the good parts of the game too, so I feel I have to give you a positive rating.

Obviously not every game is for everybody, after all.

Half-Life 2: I appreciate what that game has contributed to modern games as far as things like physics engines go, but I didn't like the plotline/lore behind it and the gameplay was mediocre at best. Half-life 1 and Opposing Force were better.

Team Fortress 2: I didn't like the "cartoon" theme of it. I think the original Call of Duty 1/SOCOM aesthetics and style of gameplay as seen back in 1999/2000 trailer would have been better.

GTA: San Andreas: My thought's are similar to Half-life 2; The game mechanics were really good but I hated the plot/storyline and protagonist and the gameplay got boring after a while. Vice City was 100x better storyline-wise.

The Witcher and Dragon Age game series('s) (including Origins): Both are too linear and "hand-holdy"
