Do you think that the game + Iceborn is going on sale anytime soon? I've been wanting to get it, but I ain't about to shill full price for both.

It's 50 dollars for both MHW and Iceborne combined.

The physical edition comes with both games.

Yo, anyone here good at Bow and/or Switch Axe? I wanna ask some questions.

Anybody have any knowledge on augmenting hammers? I'm playing around with a chaos shatterer
In general it tends to be health regen+ affinity

if you want custom mods it's your heart's desire because they are all beneficial and it comes down to your own playstyle.

Haven't run bow much in IB (though now that I have the Silverlos armor I should make some sets but I digress). Bow is basically easymode in World. To run efficient bow you need:

-Whatever bow has the largest (non-sealed) el damage for whatever the monster you're hunting is weakest to.
-2 pieces of Rathalos armor (can be any 2 pieces of the three sets, Normal, Azure and Starlord and don't both have to be the same set ie, you can combine a normal head with Azure legs and get the armor bonus) for crit El. While elemental in World overall is meh, it's completely broken with bow.
-Constitution charm, level 3.

Necessary skills. Ideally you'd have decos but if not try and get it off armor pieces:
-Bow Charge Plus
-Normal Shot and Spread/Power Shot.

Skills you want for max damage:
-Mind's Eye
-Weakness Exploit and Crit Boost as high as you can get them

QoL skills if you've space left over (more important to have in multiplayer hunts):
-Stam Cap increase via Luna's armor bonus. Only need 2 pieces, her greaves give health boost 2 which is nice.
-Health boost as high as you can get it (at least 2 if possible since you can't take many hits)
-Recovery Up and Gobbler. Speed up healing process. Can be difference between life and death sometimes.

Then once you're in hunts you just use the dodge (to build charge) - shoot strat. Dodge, Normal Shot, Dodge, Normal Shot, Dodge, Spread Shot, etc. But since the monsters are always mobile exactly what pattern you'll be using is rarely the same but basically you just wanna dodge, shoot, dodge, shoot until you run out of stamina. It sounds complicated but it's really not, just dodge and shoot until it dies and try not to get hit. Falling rocks and dragon piercer moves should only be used at your discretion. Rocks are good in SP hunts when mons are much easier to stun but are much less so in multi with increased stun res and the fact that they flinch teammates while DP leaves you wide open when using and requires precise aiming to really take advantage of which you don't really have the benefit of when mons are jumping in every which direction. I'd say only use it to aggro non-hostile mons (like Kush) and/or wakeup (assuming you've no Hammer, Greatsword, CB, or HBG teammates who should get priority).

Here's a page with a couple speedrun vids of all the best bows for each element: https://ethugamer.com/2019/08/26/monster-hunter-world-best-bows-updated-2019-pre-iceborne/

While you can make builds of other strats be they Crit Draw or Dragon Piercer or whatever they all pale in comparison to how broken Crit El is in base World. It's why many of the speedruns you can find used bow.

While bow got nerfed quite a bit for IB I don't think the patch releases for PC until IB actually drops (early next year) and on console it should still be powerful enough to carry you through low and high rank.

This is all informative and amazing, would you happen to know the various bow combos and able to type them out? I hear about all kinds of combos and whether they're stamina + or -, but no one's written them out.

You can view all the moves in the hunter guide in the main menu. Other than that just practice in the training ground and against weaker mons. It's not a tough weapon to master.

Wasn't sure if there was anything special, thanks for all the help man.

I play with a bow, mostly because its the only one that I feel comfortable with control wise on PC, and even then only with a controller.

Fuck the "Slay the Behemoth" event.
The Xeno'jiiva equipment is the tits.

RE event is fun. The risk/reward of zombification is a neat mechanic I hope to see brought back against other mons, especially ones that aren't scrubs. The Tofu pendant is great too. Also on top of the new weapon introduced the Every Hunter's Dream III quest also upgrades Wyvern Ignition so it's now viable in MR for anyone who uses it.

Xeno Y and Luna B/Y are probably the best overall armor sets in L/HR. Makes me curious as to what Master Xeno will be like (because they've gotta bring him back at some point). The only monster we know for sure isn't coming to MR is Zorah since we get his armor set from guiding lands mats.

They change a lot of the armor sets around in MR. For example instead of Stam Cap Increase and Mind's Eye Luna gives you tool specialist plus (and far inferior skills on the individual pieces) while Razor Sharp/Spare Shot is Narga's armor bonus (though there's also a charm for it which is a godsend). To make up for it that's why we've the level 4 decos that give multiskill bonuses and further upgrades for almost every single charm in the game (only one I know for sure that doesn't is Weakness Exploit). Earplugs and Handicraft go up to 4, Free Element to max (3), Guard to max (5), Crit Boost to 2, etc, etc.

As for Extremoth either find a party you can communicate with or pray, really, really hard. It's definitely a lot easier now with MR gear and the ability to spec Felyne Safeguard (while Insurance is still a random bonus) every fight but he's still the hardest mon in the game to beat by far. The best pieces of advice I can give are learn to time jumps (right as he slams his paws on the ground) because even a 50% chance to nail it can be the difference between failure and success (make sure to bind it to your radial menu too and practice it behind comets where you won't be punished for failing). Try and have one tank and one or two people running wide range support sets to keep people alive. Drawing aggro on Extremoth is essential because it prevents the tornado spam (which is by far his most dangerous move), Lance or spread HBG would be the best choices. For healer(s) run max wide range, recovery up and gobbler 2 and chug megas every time someone hits half HP. Bring along honey to craft more potions as well as lifepowders and astera jerky to cure bleeding too. Other than that you just need to know exactly how Extremoth works.

Area 1 - Drops 2 comets (1 upon sight and the other about halfway through). Less tornado spam than in other areas. Ability to drop boulders from ceiling makes this an area you should be able to breeze past. General rule of thumb is if people are carting out in the first area you're probably not gonna succeed.
Area 2 - Drops 1 comet. Tornado spam. Tornado spam everywhere. I cannot stress how important it is to prevent this. It is possible to cheese this area however using mount. While mounted Extremoth only uses a couple of different moves (one a roll trying to knock the player off) neither of which is tornado spam so a good strategy in this area is to mount and then just hold down the grip button while your teammates concentrate on attacking (and possibly restoring stamina if necessary). Ideally you want to keep him mounted the entire area then when he finally dismounts you he immediately drops the comet and the Eclip after. If you can't get mount make sure someone's got him aggro'd as often as possible.
Area 3 - No comets. Straight up damage check. No tornadoes to worry about you just need to bash his shit in before the invisible time limit (think something like 4, 5 mins) and make him head to the final area. If you fail the damage check he drops an Eclip which isn't a game over so long as people can jump it (but the odds of people being competent enough to do that if they're failing this stage are pretty slim)
Area 4 - Drops 3 comets. Welcome to tornado (and possibly lava) hell. Will drop 1 comet at a time followed shortly after by an Eclip. Also shits tornadoes everywhere again. Fighting him in Teo's nest is true hell as you also have to contend with random lava bursts sending you flying. Mount cheesing doesn't work here because if you go over his damage threshold he'll chain Eclips but not comets (ie, you hurt him enough for 2 Eclips he'll only drop a comet on the first one). If your team can jump with perfect accuracy you could try it I guess. Key here is just keeping him aggro'd at all times to curb how much the map he can cover with tornadoes and keeping him from destroying the comets. If you're down to the last one or two carts and he destroys the comet consider having people who aren't capable of jumping farcast back to camp before he calls the Eclip down.

Other than that your only real weapon is prayer.

Horizon Zero Yawn event is up, gives a new LBG (not sure if it's actually viable tho) and pendant. Kinda surprised they didn't give an upgrade to the cat armor the original quests gave but whatever.

Red Zinogre drops the 5th along with what might be the new guiding lands region. Not sure when we'll get more info on the new elder teased.

They need crown events, I'm 15 crowns away and it's taking ages for me to get a second Scarred Yian garuga 4 reward quest. Like this is RNG ontop of more RNG it's such bullshit.

I just finished all of mine (and just got both of monkey's while running his temp invests) about a week ago so thank fuck for that. The Yians were a pain in the ass, took forever to finally get the other crown I needed for normal and then I farmed a few investigations I had for Scarred and ran the event for him that was up a bunch with no luck and ultimately it was the GL that got me the last crown I needed.

I recommend checking what's in your GL between runs of whatever monster you're targeting and heading there to measure any time the mon you want spawns in it. It was also where I got my giant crown Nergi after like 60 or 70 fucking investigations.

But yeah, fuck crown farming. Definitely the most mind-numbingly tedious part of the game.

the events spawn crowns?

I tried doing a bunch of them and had no luck when i was going after the nightshade palomu.

I got a giant Pukey from EHDII. From what people have said optional now supposedly give crowns (albeit at a far, far, lower rate). Since I burned the Scarred invests I was willing to waste I just farmed his event a bunch in the hopes I'd get lucky or maybe get more invests the times I found one worth hunting but I couldn't tell you if it ever actually does spawn crowns. Actually getting into someone else's SoS Scarred is incredibly rare so the only other option you have for him would be the GL.

Lumu was the first crown I had difficulty with when I started farming them. Ended up getting him in an expedition after returning to camp. Dunno if EHDIII drops crowns because I had both mons done when I did it.

Assuming nothing's changed from the base game the best ways to get crowns are investigations with either at least 3 (if it's a temp) or at least 1 gold and silver (with the best being all silver and gold). In the base game those had better spawn rates for crowns (6% or something) so stockpile as many as you can for the monsters you need. You can also try save-scumming (ie, copy save data to online storage or a thumb drive then load it back up when you burn all your invests) though I never had any luck with it myself (if a quest didn't give me a crown the first time it never gave me any any other times) so I dunno how useful it actually is though I'd definitely recommend it with at least Scarred given how rare his quests are.

You're probably best off waiting for the crown events to eventually drop so the best way to go about it might just be to hunt mons that won't spawn in those events (ie, elders) then after that just fuck around with temp quests for mons you don't have both crowns for since you'll likely get a few that way until they finally release the events. If you are determined to get all the crowns without waiting just be prepared for mind-numbing tedium and a lot of time measuring mons and then praying they're big or small enough to warrant hunting.

Your only rewards for doing so are just the achievement/trophy and 3 titles for your card for each.

New dev video dropped last night. On top of Stiggy Zino we're getting the Whorefrost region in the GL now with at least Viper Tobi and Barioth confirmed and Shrieking Legi pretty much guaranteed (leaving Beotardus as the only unknown, though we never got Jyura in Wildspire). Devs said the mats from HR will allow further weapon upgrades. Other big GL changes are the ability to lock regions while in the GL (as opposed to having to be in camp) and ability to manually de-level regions (thank god). Dunno what the new cap for levels is going to be yet though.

HZD crossover is getting two more quests later on in the month, first one with Stiggy and the final against Savage Pickle. The rewards are a new (non-layered) armor set, cat armor, pendants and upgrades for the new LBG along with the Bow and cat armor from the base game to MR levels. The LBG also gets a unique mechanic allowing rapid-fire at the expense of health loss if used too much.

We're also getting HR layered armor, finally and a temp version of Ruiner Nergi and during the vid we see an armor set called Safi'Jiiva, meaning Xeno is getting a big brother or MR version at some point. And our first festival will drop on the 20th.

New update dropped last night and along with Stiggy gives us the Whorefrost GL and the new raid monster, MR Xeno (but only a preview fight, it's unknown when the real raid will drop). New GL mats allow you to add more upgrade slots with weapon augments.
