I'm legitimately confused at the complaints that both armour sets look the same. There's clear differences with one variant always been far more revealing than the other, especially if you tweak the display of your undercrackers.
I'm not complaining though.

Nah man I love that shit, keep it coming.
Thank you kindly, but it's not appropriate for me to sperg out of nowhere. Will leave you with something to think about though, think of stuff that you loved from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s and think from a critical perspective if it could have been a stepping stone to something that is actively being pushed today. You can't have "men can we women" without "there is no difference between men and women" which can't come out if you don't have "a woman can do anything if she puts the work into it". Suddenly things "click" and you notice how a lot of stuff you loved feels like it was priming you for "current day". Now it's up to you to think if it's people just wanting to be nice and optimistic or if it was something more nefarious, but it's certainly something that was pushed.

More on topic. Still going through GU. Killed a Malfestio which I love the design of, makes me wonder why there aren't more bird monsters. Ever since I crafted my deer switch ax, I've been sitting pretty cozy. I'm also taking things slow doing all of the town missions to get all of the extra crap they unlock.

I did my first hunts as prowler. Call me a dumbass but the lack of numbers gives me a hard time gauging how much damage I'm actually doing, but prowler seems to output some decent damage and it seems better for gathering purposes since it seems to have infinite picks (does it mean they get worse drops than a hunter with a high quality pick though?). I do really dislike how their healing system works, but I will bring the cat out for sure when I want to spice things up for gathering missions or hunting lower tier monsters.

As for the 4 flagships, was unable to kill any of them on the surprise motherfucker missions, though except for Gammoth, wasn't really commited to it, carted once, decided "yeah, good enough for today" and finished the mission.

Malfestio
Mal mentioned, such a good monster design and it's Jester themed. I'd kill to see him in HD and with a larger more aggressive attack set.

Prowler is a lot of fun, it's really the hidden easy mode in GU. The hard part is getting the right Palico with the right stats. I usually build a Big Boomerang centric set and/or Berzerker solo. Then when I play with friends I'll play a Prowler support with the Malfestio weapon to get at least a few sleeps off a hunt, it's a lot less stressful and more forgiving.

Great Maccao is far and away the best intro monster in the series, and they need to stop making new ones unless the setting or mechanics REALLY demand one. Reuse more early game monsters (throw in a few new ones so it's not just repeats until halfway through) and less late game monsters.

Rise for better or worse feels like a Japanese game, Wilds isn't bad by any means but it's one of those games that you can tell was built from the ground up to appeal to the "global audience" and as a result a lot of the charm and identity is lost.

The world and setting of Rise is arguably my favorite of the series. I don't really hate any of the hubs, but Kamura Village as whole has a lot of character and is simply cozy. The stylistic split to European themes in the expansion were also nice touch, both in the expansion hub and monster themes. The quest maid twins will forever be my top "handlers" because a) they're both cute and b) they've both carried my ass with Hunting Horns. The Toadversary has been my favorite training mode dummy so far. Wilds' Seikret feels like a worse Palamute in every way and you can't even equip it with binding guns or a lead umbrella.

Rise's biggest sin was being pretty anemic on content at base game launch. Rampage missions weren't great either, but that was moreso because they felt tedious to do and not because of difficulty. Sunbreak cut that shit out completely and added an equal or greater amount of content to the base game. I feel like Wilds is going to suffer from this same issue and I'm hoping the expansion is fucking juicy.

Of the 5th gen hubs, I'd honestly rank them
Seliana > Elgado > Kamura > > > > > > > > > > Astera
This is also not entirely fair to Kamura, as I'm only counting the hub here, and not the village itself, which I do count for the other three as you can actually do multiplayer from them without ever entering the official hub in the case of the two world locations. Astera is one of the worst design mistakes in the history of the series and I hated every moment in iceborne where it offered me a phenomenal new hub but then sent me back there. I could make an entire effortpost about how irredeemable Astera is.

Excuse my double post, but I'm bored, so I'm gonna illustrate this point a bit. I'm gonna separate the roster of base world into monsters easier and harder than an anjanath. Brand new monsters are in bold and italics, while returning monsters are underlined for a bit of extra visual clarity. For the monsters below anjanath (plus anjanath itself):
Great Jagras
Kulu-Ya-Ku
Pukei-Pukei
Barroth
Jyuratodus
Tobi-Kadachi
Tzitzi-Ya-Ku

Rathian
Paolumu
Great Girros
Dodogama
Anjanath

As for post-anjanath difficulty monsters:
Radobaan (Honestly, you could even argue that this is a pre-anja difficulty fight, and I wouldn't push you too hard on that. They could have also called it a subspecies of Uragaan and no one would have questioned them.)
Pink Rathian
Legiana
Odogaron

Rathalos
Azure Rathalos
Diablos
Black Diablos

Nergigante
Kirin
Teostra
Kushala Daora

Vaal Hazak
Uragaan
Lavasioth

Bazelgeuse
Xeno'jiiva

That’s just your lack of imagination tbh. There’s a lot of room for a spectrum of flattering feminine armor, and that black & white thinking is why it’s so lame now.

If women not wearing bulky male bullshit to please ugos and those very troons who like the socks = coomer, you need to take an art class and expand your imagination like designers of yore.
That's what I'm saying, there are more than just oversexulized shit that's "feminine". The bulky Armour is my personal preference but seeing a huge chunk of female gear being "sexy' over "feminine" is boring.

Super cool you have such a refined taste, happy for you.
My personal preference is that I want something broader than just coomer bait for female gear hence why imentioned Adeptus Sororitas wich have a wide range of cool female armour.

but if you like the sexy armour peak feminine you do you girl

Cut him some slack, the furfaggot took time out of his busy schedule of molesting the family dog to post all this.
Rereading the thread for laughs, I was actually curious since I haven't seen Baron in this thread for a while and he seemed to have left the farms. Either that or the family dog has been getting "Space Wolf'd" this entire time.

Rather not become depressed again thank you. :story:

My thought is that, like all things, it gets used and corrupted by bad actors to demoralize people and push their own agenda. Sure lots-dare I say most-media does that, but some are far less "evil" intentioned than other.
Prowler is a lot of fun
That was such a fun gameplay addition that we've only seen once and will never see again, ffs.
As for post-anjanath difficulty monsters:
Neat list, made me realize that most monsters post-Anjanath are pre-World. Though that's to be expected for obvious reasons. Anyone else think Xeno'jiiva is cooler than Safi'jiiva? Hell even the armor and weapons look cooler, if it weren't for the transformation they do that makes the gear feel alive (reminds me of Fatalis' gear fluff implying that it'll corrupt you and that it never truly died, also remember the giant Fatalis sword in Pokke Village?) I wouldn't have bothered.

I swear to Gog there's whale sounds in the plains. It doesn't sound like wind howling and it's definitely not any of the creatures on the map.
With all the other glaringly obvious 4 nods, Dah'ren would be a pretty cool return.

Speaking of Anji, why was he such a wall for World babies? Not even knocking them, or anyone really, who got walled by him. We've all got our own, but he just seems like an odd one.

Even if he's a 4.5/10 in terms of difficulty at best, that's a pretty substantial jump from the 2/10 monsters you've been fighting up to that point. He has some pretty janky 3rd gen tier hitboxes, damage that's on par with say 4th gen yian kut ku, and some pretty bad hitzones for most weapons as well. It's no tri barroth or FU khezu, but it's the first monster in world you really can't just facetank and trade blow for blow. It's not much of a challenge to anyone who knows how to play the game, but world is pretty bad at actually giving players skillchecks to make sure they actually understand mechanics, so they can get to anjanath pretty easily without ever being punished by the game for playing like DSP.

As a World baby, as Markovian said he was pretty much the first legitimately difficult monster you encounter in the game that could cart you outright if you try flailing at him.

Consider the World roster before you get to him:
- Great Jagras (actual pincushion, does anyone actually find him threatening?)
- Kulu-Ya-Ku (funny bird, and I like his concept but total joke in terms of actual threat)
- Pukei-Pukei (this one is probably the first real threat, between poison and his slightly more threatening moveset, if you havent been upgrading armour he could cart you)
- Barroth (seems threatening until you realise he's slow and clutch claw exist to wallbang him. Doesnt do much damage if you dont stand in front of his charge like a retard)
- Jyuradotus (I legitimately don't recall what this one does and that's probably a bad thing)
- Tobi-Kadachi (Love his concept, but he's basically an easier odo with electricity attacks instead of bleed. Apparently in Rise he's much more threatening but here it's kinda meh.)

Technically you could also encounter Rathians before the actual main story quest to hunt Anjy but Rathians are kind of pushovers in World (slightly less in Wilds with their new moveset).

Culture warriors and grifter love too much Capcom so they excuse with "is ok if current Capcom do that"
They aren't seeing the clues within the company that is going to blow up in the future:
- The division West VS Japan is dissapearing. Years ago Capcom had western appealing games(RE, Dead rising , DMC....) and eastern appealing games(MH, Megaman, Ace Attorney).
- In mid/late 10s with the "Capcom is back" meme I started to see how the western philosophy mentality was taking the eastern one: World and Wilds westernized MH, RE4 cut the cheesy for the remake (I can see them doing the same with CV), ignore the sales for games like Megaman 11 or Battle Network collection or ignore X subfranchise, and not giving Kinoshita(Dark Arise or the online director) a higher position in Dragon dogma 2 so the DMC director could be happy
- Many key developers from Capcom left .

I think your "Rise feels like a japanese Game " take is because Capcom sent many MegaMan and AA staff there , renmant of the japanese philosophy side that Capcom is "purging" .
Hell, I think the Clover return with Okami is a smoke bomb so people can ignore what has been happening in Capcom.
Capcom is going to continue to release good games but people ignoring the current problem is weird when then spent hours talking about sega or *current DEI western studio to hate* can end with a disaster in the future of this franchise

TLDR: only new contents for first title update, no mentioning of any kind fixes or whatsoever. Seemingly, it'll be seasonal-ish update they are doing.
Roadmap.

Unlocking gathering hub, arch-tempered Rey Dau and Zoh Shia at HR50. Yes, they do come with new armor sets. Mizutsune is unlocked at HR21 and talking to Kanya.

Arena quests are back. They can also give pendant as cosmetic rewards, also higher ranking (time completion) can give more special pendants.
Gathering hub will also have seasonal festival. Seasonal festivals will also come with all previous limited time events. More ugly knife-ears in gathering hub. New mini-game, barrel bowling, can earn more consumables as rewards.

Title Update 2, around Summer. Lagiacrus.

More DLCs incoming, free and paid. Free stuffs are few classic emotes and one Alma alternative outfit. Quoting myself.
The new Handler, she looks very plain and boring. If you ask me whether she was some npc from generic Western modern days setting game, I'll say she won't be out of place like Life is Strange or any horror game from Supermassive Games. But.... that will make it easier to tempt players buying DLC outfit for her, even more so than the old Handler.

Paid DLCs are cosmetics, stickers, emotes and even new weapon postures. More events for free layered armors and BBQ grill ingredients are also coming.

All of that stuff definitely sounds like shit that should/would have been in day one. Sounds decent though, about what was to be expected with a couple things I wouldn't have expected. Not sure why they're going so hard on the fucking pendants. I guess because they're easy to shit out.

This thing though?
earn more consumables as rewards.

Yuck. Looks like a child with Downs. I will NOT focus on the Diva, Capcom. I'm not a pedofork.
