Monster Hunter Wilds Character Customization

What memorie is this i swear there was a game i played that did this to but I can't remember what it was

Played the beta. Fun. Kinda jank because of course it is. Character creator is really nice but there's some things that are strange to me. Mostly the "blending" option being a big factor in how the look comes together but whatever. Every male character I've made has looked just fine in game, but the majority of the female characters have turned out pretty off from what they looked like in creation. Which sucks because it'd gonna make recreating my World and Risebreak ho significantly harder.

Going back to the more weighty animations is nice but jarring coming from so much Risebreak, but there's also a strange lack of hit stop when connecting with most attacks. Can kinda fuck with the feedback of if you actually hit or not if you arent looking for the numbers or have them off. Very strange. You've got these heavy animations but no real feedback when you slap monsters. Mounting also feels kinda strange to me. Can't put my finger on it.

Seikret is neat but feels clunky. More so than even the Palamutes did, imo. But a mount is nice considering the sheer size of just the beta area. Camera is kinda wonky when riding I think.

Overall though I've enjoyed it. Don't even mind being fully voiced. Kinda like it actually. And it was neat finally seeing the hunter be proactive in a monster cutscene by using their weapon.
Also imagine being such a massive, quivering pussy that you need an arachnophobia setting. If you're afraid of spiders IRL fine, but this shits fake. It can't hurt you. Get over yourself.

Much as I agree with you, I do feel kind of bad. Irrational fears are just that, irrational. The brain is the most powerful organ in the body simply because it dictates your life, and if you were unlucky enough to involuntarily shit bricks when you see or experience certain things (Acrophobia, Claustrophobia, Plutophobia (commies lol), etc.) when you shouldn't be afraid of them and there's little you can do about it...well, it just sucks. As a big Arachnid fan, arachonophobia settings can garble my nuts but so long as I'm not forced to be subjected to it if someone has this hypothetical setting enabled, I don't care too much.
WHAT THE FUCK IT'S REAL? HAHAHAHAHA. Seriously if this becomes "universal" (if one hunter enables it thinking it's clientside and everyone else has their spiders replaces with slimes) I'm just not hunting with people. Not hard since I find myself playing with randoms far less generally than I did years ago because holy fuck the increase in retards who probably have their controller/keyboard partway in their mouth is infuriating.

Good, if I'm forced to watch cutscenes (though I hear you can skip them, but I probably won't if I play this game about a year in the future first time around) I should at least see my character be the hunter they were made to be rather than stand there like a muppet.

Heard they took the MH specific language out of the game entirely, can anyone else confirm?
It's not in the demo can confirm.
You get the standard retards going "I never cared about it, so you shouldn't care about it either. I rather capcom use their time on other parts of the game." In other forums.

I hope they add it in the final release, but it not being there to being with is fucking shit. Death by 1000 cuts. I keep warning people that eventually the next monster hunter is going to be made for people who don't like or want to play Monster Hunter.

So far the weapon play is very light, they took out a lot of the hit stop in weapons like Great Sword and Long Sword so it feels like your cutting air. There is no heft or weight in attacks, which TBH is the charm and very integral to the series. Weapon attack commitment is something you really don't want to fuck with, small tweaks are fine. The UI is atrocious, think the Ubisoft Elden Ring UI meme that was going around. The game informs you weather a flash pod or a trap was successful when you could just look with your eyes for that info. Monsters get back up from a knock down faster than pervious titles, probably because balance for the new focus system and reduced windup for heavy attacks. That's just a few of my problems.
There is a survey for the beta as well, I'm sure I will fill that out.

That's why I don't much care for these sorts of settings. The alternatives look retarded. Though I've never heard of these things impacting other's games. And yeah, I tried to hunt Rey Dau before the beta ended and some randos joined in. It was shit. I forgot how much having to share carts between 3 other people sucked when there's no cohesion or a skill gap. Was the first time I hunted with a parry, even if involuntarily, in like 12 years.

Yeah you take a swing at one of those... sand tunneling leviathans I forgot the name of. Was neat.

Those people can go fuck themselves, agreed. It's been in the series since day 1 and to not have it at all is bullshit.

Also agreed. The LS felt floaty as hell. Some cool new moves but man it feels like I was whiffing constantly because of being able to adjust my attacks. Same for GS. It's a learning curve for sure.

And the UI is cluttered as fuck. The map is cool but almost everything else is too much. Attack inputs, every single item is highlighted on screen, area changes like resource surges etc. Pretty sure you can tailor it though so there's that I guess.

Will definitely fill the survey out as well. For whatever good that's worth.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen people seemingly outside humanities evolutionary trait of recognition patterns fucking up constantly and somehow getting worse each cart. I had no issues when I first played MH with other people back during Tri's peak but after that it was like everyone with a brain cell stop playing MH and all I got were retards with no accountability.

Ah, so tourists. "I joined back in Worldborne and have only ever played Risebreak, here's why I and people like me should dictate the direction of the series. Generations who? Freedom what? There were only ever two games in the series silly!"
Attack inputs, every single item is highlighted on screen, area changes like resource surges etc.
Half expecting yellow paint on key areas, wouldn't be surprising.

Caught like 30 seconds of some rando streaming it on my youtube front page and that UI gave me a stroke. World I played years later down the line so I could properly critique it, this piece of shit looks so bad most would probably be better off pretending it doesn't exist.

Well, haven't had any performance issues, but I have had a rather annoying issue where ~75% of the time when a tutorial pops up (including selecting a weapon) the game freezes and I need to hard reset my pc to fix it. After managing to thread the needle and hunt chatacabra, I've gotta say...
They fucked up my switch axe, holy shit, what the fuck is this garbage?

As someone that plays with a toaster. First impression was wretched because outside of text I got pitch black on screen. After some searching and fiddling turns out the upscale feature was fucking with me. Once disabled and I assume everything in low, I'd say I'm hitting 20FPS. Skipped the cutscenes since I don't want to even act like I care till I play the real thing. Was annoyed by the scripted chase scene thing, that shit should be skippable.

Went with the bow and hunted the Cabra. Since I'm not particularly savvy with the bow I just shot arrows till it stopped moving, so didn't get much of a feel for the focus mechanic or bow specifics like the marker arrow. Can't really say much about feel since my performance is ass, definitely a step down from risebreak but that's on my rig.

Leaving aside that everything is in low, choosing the desert as the default area was a horrible idea. Everything feels brown and ugly, reminds me of the worst parts of the 2000s.

Will still fuck around with it in the next days but definitely will not buy purely on needing to upgrade my rig. I've also learnt anyway that MonHun is more enjoyable to me when you have the whole package and you go through it at your rythm. I'll give it this though, it performs better than Space Marine 2.

Also, my god are there a lot of fucking accessability options. Dump all of that shit in an initial question of "would you like to configure any accesability settings?" And don't make me go through every bloody thing.

If I'm being honest, it's kinda a let down to me. Performance isn't great for me, hovering somewhere 50-60 fps in hunt and 40 fps in camp, not exactly great. I was giving a benefit of doubt for bad visual for video streaming, but harsh weather makes the game looking really bad.

Mouse and Keyboard keybinds settings, just horrible. Somehow even worse than or as at least bad as Rise with its already bloated buttons. Why is it calling/riding Seikret button is different to interactive button? They want players to have focus attack and also shooting slinger at the same time, it's even more buttons to press and clunk. I don't want to even test key bindings for ranged weapons.
Every time you start a hunt on-field, game not only auto mark but also automatically lock-on monster (they are the same function). You have to manually turn off auto-mark to stop yanking/limiting your camera movement. I don't know why they won't let player fully control Seikret entirely, the mount is always moving forward to its looking direction.
Grilling meat is sad, zero enthusiasm. At least well=done steak is now also healing you, not just increasing stamina.

Forcing players into some online lobby, but players can set their hunt to be private. Forcing online feels like hurting overall game performance way more. Also, people can randomly spam text chat emotes, you can see them on screen while you hunt by yourself. Why?

Hunting horn, it seems they want you to put down ground bubbles in fight all the times. Because it feels like half of your other damage is from those bubble sonic wave attack too. Otherwise, damage output isn't good without bubbles and monsters can move around quite a lot. It takes more set up time for players to do damage.
Gunlance is okay, timing parry/block into slam into full burst is nice. Reload comes guard is good. Not sure is it demo weapon, but Gunlance doesn't eat that much sharpness when shelling.
I don't really like Capcom wants both Lance and Gunlance have this "weirdo" long combo sequence with big damage at later moves. It takes 4 Gunlance moves to go into Wyrmstakes. Meanwhile, Lance has this long sequence poke/Leaping thrust -> sweep -> fast jabs. Leaping thrust is nerfed comparing to Rise version, Rise does 3-hit attack. Wilds only does 2-hit.
I don't want to even talk about Chargeblade, having to do AED first before SAED is cringe.

The wound system, all I'm gonna say if you somehow accumulate bunch of them on monsters. Then using focus attack, it's fun to see bunch of damages pop up even if attack animation (Lance for example) doesn't hit the wound spots. For some reasons, focus attack for Insect glaive damage does way too much in that case.
Not sure what is with Doshaguma, a bit annoying to have relying on focus strike aim to hit monster precisely with Lance. please hit the head not torso. I have bad feeling like some weapons may relying on focus strike aim a lot.

Edit: there are lots of people having game performance issue. Game has horrible optimization for sure.

Holy shit, all the models were just straight up broken for me. Thought a game restart would fix it but it broke anything that already wasn't. I bit the bullet and went to Reddit after 5 years to confirm it's not just my shitter laptop doing this.

This is bad. Why the fuck do they need to make an open beta - and even if they do, why can't they make their demo slice competent? The Japs really hate PCs.

Edit, it might just be a VRAM thing. Either way I didn't pay a penny towards this game and I still feel scammed. But at least they have a million sliders you'll fiddle with in the character creator, right? (Only to then find you messed something up and then reach for an appearance change MTX...)

No it is a open Beta to catch shit like this.

A beta is not a DEMO. It is used to test the infrastructure and issues like this before the game is released.
