Gutted to read that Burns lost to Mr. Dick Kick City, but the game is cruel. Hope he considers hanging them up

was the card any good? couldn't be bother to watch it
Not really, a 5 out of 10 if we are being generous.

Hardly any of the figthers we saw today will go on to be serious contenders. Sure, we saw Barbosa having a wallop of a punch, but unless we see him in the ranks, we can't really tell.

Malott did well against Burns, but it was clear from the first minute that Gilbert was nothing but a shadow of what he once was, and way, WAY to undersized for the category.

Welterweights are now just middleweights that can still cut it, guys like Morales are ridiculous huge, and Burns was a true Lightweight that got old and couldn't cut it anymore. There was just no place for him to compete anymore.

Sad to see Durinho retire like that, but at least the Canadians were cool to cheer his name. Godspeed Burns,

Standard Fight Night shite. A bunch of dimeless shitters who've been knocking around for ages mixed with mediocre new prospects that will get smoked once they move up the card a bit.

It's just about trying to have an event every week with UFC now. The quality is irrelevant, it's all about the volume of stuff they can put out.

I’ll be real guys, I’m less than a casual viewer but I feel like as a martial artist I should at least watch MMA. I’ve literally never watched sports aside from the Stanley Cup playoffs.
What’re the absolute basics I need to know to get into watching UFC? What’s the difference between a numbered event and a fight night and whatever else it is they do, where do I watch in the first place, when is it actually on, is there a cheap way to watch everything, all that stuff.
I know a little through osmosis from the bros, but if I would seriously watch one sport it would be fighting and I just want to know what’s up.

1) Numbered events used to be PPV. But now that the UFC is streaming exclusively on Paramount+ in the United States, they're more like ''premium cards'' (ranked fighters, title fights). A Fight Night event is filled with prospects and new signees. Typically low stakes throughout the entire card except for maybe the main event.
2) As mentioned above, if you are American, you can either watch all events via a Paramount+ subscription or sail the high seas.

I'm going to be real with you. You are probably coming into this sport at the worst time. UFC/MMA peaked between 2009-2019. UFC has a monopoly now on the sport and have given up. They've gotten so lazy they are now making their promo ads via A.I.

One FC is pretty great though They have a Muay Thai division that is incredible. They broadcast all of their events on Amazon Prime. Lots of chatter though that they are financially fucked and could be going under soon last I heard. RIZIN is the premier Japanese promotion. Probably best so sail the high seas for their content or you can order PPVs on their website. PFL is the American ''competition'' and are now broadcasted on ESPN+. I've enjoyed the cards I've watched when they were on DAZN here in Canada.

The rules are made up and the points don't matter. It sucks but we watch it anyway because the alternative is boxing.

Numbered events are title fights. Fight Nights are filler.

where do I watch in the first place
Paramount+, some sketchy website, or a local sportsbar that still licenses the broadcast. Which usually means Buffalo Wild Wings or Dave & Busters these days.

when is it actually on
Most Saturdays. Time depends on where in the world the fights are being held and changes week to week.

is there a cheap way to watch everything
Sketchy websites, sketchier websites, or making friends with somebody who pays for Paramount+ for some reason.

Stream East plus Ublock is a decent experience and Paramount+ is like $8.99 a month or $89.00/yr. You have to be retarded or broke to be filtered by these hurdles.

Everything is fine with adblock but I linked a stream to a normie once and his laptop started beating "kill me kill me" on the desk in morse code so I hesitate to send anyone anywhere now.

At this point only the numbered cards are even remotely good. Fight Nights are becoming unbearable to endure. I could not imagine paying tickets for any UFC event and they are barely filling half of the arenas now. Their last numbered event was a record low gate for that arena. Four of the next eight cards are Apex cards. One card is the White House card with six fights on it.

The Paramount era is shaping up to be a major decline for the UFC.

I'm blaming TKO. They are a marketing/advertising company. WWE has gone to shit as well because it's all just about producing as many shows as possible to create content to sell to TV/streaming services so that they can sell ad space.

Quality has gone out the window. Most Fight Nights are legit awful because the cards are flooded with shitters who haven't a hope of ever being real contenders.
