You see the slips as knockdowns.
And you are in New York. 3-2 I can see, but expected it to be split. That's about as good as WMMA is going to get. Almost everything else is trash.
Scrap the women’s divisions please.
Strawweight is alright. Flyweight and Bantamweight are trash. Not only are the champs on a completely different level than their competition, but they at times decide to draw the fight out over 5 rounds when they can smoke their opponents.

Not a body language expert, but Colby seems nervous. This is not the guy doing the act and talking shit, this is the guy who is about to face the guy who fucked him up 2 years ago, Especially how he's blowing out his cheeks and puffing. Masvidal, for all the shit he pulled to get the rematch, is a 50 fight vet. Colby has 18 and I think this rematch might get to him.

Oh yeah, he seems shook. The guy known for high output and cardio and pressure....is trying to play this counter game. Corner is telling him to follow the gameplan, he seems shook.

Colby looks less intense than last time. Maybe it's work out form him.
I'm gonna be a twitter fan and insist that him facing away from from Usman before the fight is a sing of him being mentally broken or something.

.....oh dear

Ring rust and lack of momentum imo. Usman has a lot of activity, has faced adversity. Colby got a layup in Woodley, and now has to fight the guy who fucked him up, and he hasn't fought for a year. His wrestling isn't working, and he doesn't want to exchange. He's down 2 for sure. Colby is loading up all his punches. It's one thing to practice for a year, another to fight for real.

If he loses this, he is going to get dunked down the rankings for this performance. You can't turn in this sort of performance when you hyped up a war.

Frustrating. When Colby went back to his usual self he had success. The uppercut that worked in the 1st fight helped him out here. Still think Usman won it. Kinda a shit fight tbh.

Nice job by Colby for making it close I guess. I want to see Khazmat vs. Kamaru assuming Khazmat wrecks his next opponent.

49-46 again
fucking HOW?
Round 2. Colby basically did nothing and got dropped twice. 10-8 has changed and been made easier to score.

Considering how lacklustre he looked, I'm amazed he made it close. Looks like he has finally managed to add some power to his shots, mainly be loading them the fuck up. Ringrust really showed with the nerves and how bad he looked in the first 2 rounds. Even his coaches were going "why are you not following the gameplan"?

Lol at Edwards getting skipped yet again. No one cares about that guy.

pretty decent night of fights. Gaethje vs Chandler was a show stealer, but it was always going to be.
The only one that had me on my toes. The other one's were over before they began.

Usman almost let that one get away from him. I thought Colby turned it up in Rounds 3 and 4, but I also thought Usman started coasting a little bit, and it nearly cost him. If Colby wins Round 5, he's probably the new champion, and I don't even think Usman won Round 5 by that much. I think Usman barely eeked out a victory in a fight he should have dominated.

Usman got too cocky. All the experts were saying he would nuke Colby in the first round cause of "muh trevor whitman" striking

I got the sense and had it pretty much confirmed tonight that Usman is trying at all times not to revert back to what he was in the Blackzillian training room, a guy who would get into full contact gym brawls with Michael Johnson. He wants to fight behind his jab, throw the straight, throw some kicks and the odd body hook. He, like almost all Wittman fighters, wants to control space and engage on his terms. He wants these clean exchanges.

When Colby reverted back to "throw 500 shots" Colby from fight 1 and got in the pocket with him. Usman ducks his head, reverts back to the guy who got into gym wars and swung for the fences, but really slowly. It also didn't help that Colby is not someone he can just toss around when they get in close. He has always been a wooden striker, compared to someone like Gaethje, and it really looks like he is always trying to not revert back to the guy who swings like a moron in a gym war.

Colby had some success with that uppercut and countering, but otherwise his striking form was just shit. Instead of doing 500 pitter patter shots, he's loading up and swinging like he's throwing punches out of Street Fighter. Really uninspired fight.

I wasn't really sure if Rose could win. For as much as I hate immediate rematches her head kick win could definitely be seen as a fluke and judging by the betting odds it was. Rose managed to prove she could go the distance and win cementing her champion reign.

Really was a replay of her 2nd fight with Joanna, almost to a tee. After starching a well respected champ in the first round and being rematched, she ends up facing adversity and having to get through it to pull off the win.

Weili is much improved for sure, both in striking approach and wrestling, she just has the Chinese fighter issue of being not good on her back. From getting into a punching war with Joanna to a rather technical performance, even if she started to break down in the later rounds.

Despite how much MMA has evolved in the last decade, why do the fighters still have very little head movement?

This is something I touched on before, but I think it's worth readdressing. Most UFC fighters don't really have good boxing overall since they usually come from wrestling or grappling backgrounds first; I assume it's because there's no money in it.

IDK. Basic movement should not be too difficult to incorporate. Some argue that it increases the risk of taking a kick or knee to the head, which is true (Petr Yan eats flying knees all the time), but basic movement shouldn't be hard to use.

A lot of people (especially kickboxers) will say that head movement is not good because of knees and kicks. That's only true when you duck super low, usually until you're at waist level (like Mayweather or other philly shell users). In traditional boxing, head movement is supposed to be small and minimal because dipping too low or too far doesn't allow you to counter quick enough. Dipping too low also leaves you open for uppercuts. You can apply this logic to knees, because they're basically a second set of uppercuts, but a bit slower and lower.

Also, if you stay in punching range, you shouldn't even be worrying about knees or kicks to begin with. Usually, head kicks and knees only matter when the guy you're facing is taller than you.

Speaking of boxing in MMA, I would say that Gaethje is among the best boxers in the UFC, and I think his technique is underrated. Yes, he's still hittable, and he's by no means perfect, but his progression in terms of technique took me by surprise when watched his fight with Ferguson. He showcased a lot more of improvements against Chandler; you can see him moving his head more and his counterpunching has gotten so much better; perhaps on a level higher than 98% of UFC fighters. Chandler also seemed to improve, just because I think he looked much faster than I remembered.

Here's something from Poland. The male MMA fighter in the first fight isn't that much but had no problem taking this lady down and beating the shit out of her before the fight was stopped. The second one didn't even need to get his female opponent down before the fight was stopped. When it's time for close-in fighting, hand-to-hand, most men will always beat most women, period. This goes for the vast majority of military women, too. Don't give a fuck about what these women learn in "combatives" or whatever they call it now. In a REAL fight the action doesn't stop until someone is dead, hurt, unconscious, or can get away.

Is either guy even trained? He's arm punching and his technique looks like ass, and it looks like he's rocking her with those arm only punches. She goes for the WMMA classic head and arm throw and gets reversed. The second fight had that guy doing his best Charles Oliveira impression and arm punching his way to a win. Even at the lowest tier of skill the difference in dynamism is so apparent between the genders.
