And you are in New York. 3-2 I can see, but expected it to be split. That's about as good as WMMA is going to get. Almost everything else is trash. You see the slips as knockdowns.
Strawweight is alright. Flyweight and Bantamweight are trash. Not only are the champs on a completely different level than their competition, but they at times decide to draw the fight out over 5 rounds when they can smoke their opponents.Scrap the women’s divisions please.
Ring rust and lack of momentum imo. Usman has a lot of activity, has faced adversity. Colby got a layup in Woodley, and now has to fight the guy who fucked him up, and he hasn't fought for a year. His wrestling isn't working, and he doesn't want to exchange. He's down 2 for sure. Colby is loading up all his punches. It's one thing to practice for a year, another to fight for real.Colby looks less intense than last time. Maybe it's work out form him.
I'm gonna be a twitter fan and insist that him facing away from from Usman before the fight is a sing of him being mentally broken or something.
.....oh dear
That had to be intentional, one of the judges was trolling, I'm betting that it was Sal D'Amato.49-46 again
fucking HOW?
Round 2. Colby basically did nothing and got dropped twice. 10-8 has changed and been made easier to score.49-46 again
fucking HOW?
Considering how lacklustre he looked, I'm amazed he made it close. Looks like he has finally managed to add some power to his shots, mainly be loading them the fuck up. Ringrust really showed with the nerves and how bad he looked in the first 2 rounds. Even his coaches were going "why are you not following the gameplan"?Nice job by Colby for making it close I guess. I want to see Khazmat vs. Kamaru assuming Khazmat wrecks his next opponent.
The only one that had me on my toes. The other one's were over before they began.pretty decent night of fights. Gaethje vs Chandler was a show stealer, but it was always going to be.
Usman got too cocky. All the experts were saying he would nuke Colby in the first round cause of "muh trevor whitman" strikingUsman almost let that one get away from him. I thought Colby turned it up in Rounds 3 and 4, but I also thought Usman started coasting a little bit, and it nearly cost him. If Colby wins Round 5, he's probably the new champion, and I don't even think Usman won Round 5 by that much. I think Usman barely eeked out a victory in a fight he should have dominated.
I got the sense and had it pretty much confirmed tonight that Usman is trying at all times not to revert back to what he was in the Blackzillian training room, a guy who would get into full contact gym brawls with Michael Johnson. He wants to fight behind his jab, throw the straight, throw some kicks and the odd body hook. He, like almost all Wittman fighters, wants to control space and engage on his terms. He wants these clean exchanges.Usman almost let that one get away from him. I wasn't really sure if Rose could win. For as much as I hate immediate rematches her head kick win could definitely be seen as a fluke and judging by the betting odds it was. Rose managed to prove she could go the distance and win cementing her champion reign. The only one that had me on my toes. The other one's were over before they began.
Really was a replay of her 2nd fight with Joanna, almost to a tee. After starching a well respected champ in the first round and being rematched, she ends up facing adversity and having to get through it to pull off the win.I wasn't really sure if Rose could win. Despite how much MMA has evolved in the last decade, why do the fighters still have very little head movement?
IDK. Basic movement should not be too difficult to incorporate. Some argue that it increases the risk of taking a kick or knee to the head, which is true (Petr Yan eats flying knees all the time), but basic movement shouldn't be hard to use.
Is either guy even trained? He's arm punching and his technique looks like ass, and it looks like he's rocking her with those arm only punches. She goes for the WMMA classic head and arm throw and gets reversed. The second fight had that guy doing his best Charles Oliveira impression and arm punching his way to a win. Even at the lowest tier of skill the difference in dynamism is so apparent between the genders. Here's something from Poland. The male MMA fighter in the first fight isn't that much but had no problem taking this lady down and beating the shit out of her before the fight was stopped. The second one didn't even need to get his female opponent down before the fight was stopped. When it's time for close-in fighting, hand-to-hand, most men will always beat most women, period. This goes for the vast majority of military women, too. Don't give a fuck about what these women learn in "combatives" or whatever they call it now. In a REAL fight the action doesn't stop until someone is dead, hurt, unconscious, or can get away.
