Hey kids! Today's word of the day is "graft"! Can you say "graft"?Somehow, the LCS still got made.
The army should just build partial assembly locations in 20 states like the Air Force, nothing would get canceled.Hey kids! Today's word of the day is "graft"! Can you say "graft"?
Real talk though the Navy has always gotten the short end of the stick on budget cuts whenever congress decides the military needs less money. Ever since the very first days of our nation that's been the case. The army should just build partial assembly locations in 20 states like the Air Force, nothing would get canceled.
Even with graft in play, the U.S. Navy been misusing the ones they have as carrier escorts instead of fulfilling secondary roles. Like convoy escort, which they had abdicated decades ago. Minsweeping as the current minesweeper are decades overdue for replacement, coupled with needing to be transported and babysitted by a destroyer, so nobody tried to fuck with them. ASW, maritime border, U.S. fishing fleet protection and etc.Hey kids! Today's word of the day is "graft"! Can you say "graft"?
And now the Constellation clusterfuck won't be ready until 2029 or so.... More importantly cutting LCS production will inevitably shutdown their builders and destroyed the surrounding communities.
Right before Trump left office in his first term, he was negotiating with the winning shipyard of the U.S.S. Constellation and the other shipyard over them getting a license to also build Constellations. Since it didn't care whose design they would be constructing, and only that they constructing something. Afaik Biden had it all shitcanned and the U.S. lost another shipyard.
Complete mismanagement, and the only thing that is a problem not cause of said mismanagement. Is the Constellation design isn't to USN [or the Britbong RN] standard of survivability and damage control. So everything have to be redone to bring it to standard. If that had been the only issue, it would've been a nothing burger as it was something to be expected. Don't remember how the USN fucked up everything else with it.And now the Constellation clusterfuck won't be ready until 2029 or so.... What a joke.
I like the most recent video from Sub Brief on the cluster fuck of the ConstellationComplete mismanagement, and the only thing that is a problem not cause of said mismanagement. Love that they named it after such a beast. The old one is arguably harder hitting, but it also wasn't recon, it was the pre A-10. It also wasn't a souped up crop duster lol.
Also the video says they haven't fired Hellfires from it yet, but it's planned. Can take APKWS 70MM guided rockets. They haven't mentioned if it can take 7.62x51mm miniguns or 20mm gunpods so far tho.
I want that lol. But for real. It seems like the pilots really love it. It's a special operations plane, so it's not exactly going after SAM sites or anything lol.
The Wiesel is a funny little tankette that the Germans have pushed into every role imaginable. I like the Wiesel 2 Air Defense Ozelot variant with Stingers personallyGermans have got the light tank thing down. Shove all the small Latinx in these

Any time I see it I think of the FACs in Vietnam. They would have creamed themselves for these. great series by the way.I want that lol. But for real. It seems like the pilots really love it. It's a special operations plane, so it's not exactly going after SAM sites or anything lol.
It's doing recon, staying in the air for a long fucking time because turboprop, and occasionally firing off laser guided weapons for overwatch of its SOCOM guys on the ground. It also can land anywhere basically, dirt or a paved strip, because it's a crop duster at the end of the day.
Back then they had gunpods, unguided rockets, and dumb bombs. Now? Just look at this shit:Any time I see it I think of the FACs in Vietnam. They would have creamed themselves for these. great series by the way.

IIRC US Border Patrol was really interested in these not too terribly long ago.https://youtube.com/watch?v=_nKCBO8hfFwWe got a walk-around of the OA-1K Skyraider II from The War Zone.

It's not going to happen, but it would be very funny if it did. The HVP is the last living remnant of the entire 'super secret failgun stealth destroyer' concept, and was intended at various points to be compatible with both the AGS and the future railgun. The fucking grunts indirectly saving the Navy's incompetent boondoggle by having faith in a common guided shell would be fucking priceless.Kino until it encounters the first drone armed with an RPG warhead.
Not gonna happen. The only reason they are getting the hypersonic is because they don't do anything else. Gotta put something where that nlos gun system went.
I would like to see the guns work simply because "big naval guns cool". Not because it's practical, but because it's awesome. But no lol, I doubt they'll get their ammo, or even a cheaper version that can fit the gun. It's not going to happen, but it would be very funny if it did. They should have made an FFG from the start. An unfucked Independence might be neat but everybody knows it. Constellation can't come soon enough.https://youtube.com/watch?v=EQHPlMH54aohttps://youtube.com/watch?v=MF7zP7IAWyESub Brief finally released his LCS videos. A great watch. He stayed fair but it still was brutal. TLDR: the Freedom is mega garbage, the Independence will linger with us for a while longer. Ironically the more radical design has more potential. I mean it's gearbox didn't fucking explode, so I mean... yeah lol.
USN probably plans to retire the Zumwalts long before the economics of scale in a common HVP would make it feasable to branch off production for AGS compatible shells, even if it was desired, which it probably isn't. Damn shame because on paper it would become a pretty awesome warship with new missiles and the remaining guns finally working, but they dropped the fucking ball.I would like to see the guns work simply because "big naval guns cool".
