Groznyj Grad Northwest when escaping prison and going for no alerts is the hardest part of the game IMO, I spent a painfully long time trying but just couldn't find a route. It's the only part I needed to look up a guide for. (Not counting the kerotan and ga-ko locations guide)

Just beat the Shagohod. The new graphics really shine in that first Volgin boss fight, before the escape sequence. Absolute kino.

I'm realising just how many plot points I completely forgot about. The quick cuts of Snake, the Boss and Ocelot glancing over when Volgin first presents the legacy is hilarious when you know. Poor guy had no allies.

At least on PC people didn't care much about it. There is no need for a new game, I'm in favor of ending game franchises, there is no need for them to go on forever. And fuck remakes and remasters, total bullshit. The only games that should have them are the ones that totally underperformed because technical limitations in the past or the team totally fucked up an idea that had good potential.

What's the current status of the MGS Master Collection, specifically MGS1? I played it back on release but have never revisited, and Delta has me wondering if it's worth going back to. I've got a PS2 so the original release is an option, but I've got a PS5 that hardly gets used so I'm open to the idea of the remaster (and it sounds like Integral is included, which is kind of a neat bonus). But I remember the release catching heat when it came out and I haven't kept up with whether it got patched.

It took forever but they did patch a lot of the most egregious issues (the fact that the sound was busted on Steam Deck for MGS2-3 was ridiculous). It's in an arguably acceptable state, but more could be done. I expect Vol 2 to be just as busted at launch and take forever to get fixed. My main issue with MGS1 was the fact you couldn't turn off the god awful filtering at launch. Thankfully you don't have to fix that with mods anymore. For some weird reason the dialogue is muted whenever somebody says a button prompt on the switch port. Which is also sadly capped at 30 for everything, even if you run it on a switch 2.

It's about time Kept you waiting huh?

I was savouring it. Thank you guys for your patience with my updates after all of you had already beaten it twice.

Followed a guide for locating the GA-KOs and Kerotans and tried my best to gather everything I remembered the location of. Bagged the tsuchinoko also.

Stealth camo and infinity paint, now the real fun begins. I'm going to do a loose chaotic fun playthrough first and unlock the EZ gun + secret theatre before maybe trying for Foxhound on a third run if I still feel like it.

Great game. I really enjoyed the new graphics and the fact it remained mostly the same, I don't think it was worth 70 dollars though but what's done is done.

I'm looking forward to Fox Hunt, here's hoping it gets better treatment and attention than V's online mode.

I've watched a few videos on the remake of MGS3. I thought I'd buy it when it went on sale. I remembered it being a solid, fun game with a good story.

So it turns out 21 years ago I was fucking retarded.

This game is stupid. The gameplay is alright and for its time it was definitely interesting. The story and dialogue was definitely written by someone so intent on sniffing their own farts their head was actually up their own ass. Ocelot does a fucking gay ass growl and his crack troops come out but Snake beats them all using what's essentially a mix of judo one might learn at the YMCA and "touchless" martial arts. And let's not even get into the fucking wildly gay retardation that is using a knife and a pistol simultaneously. I know it's a video game but what the fuck?!

Last but not least, Snake's oneitis for the woman who's the creator of US special forces, his mentor, his instructor, his mommy figure, and the woman he most wants to fuck.

I sometimes wonder if when George Lucas is getting shit for how awful his Star Wars prequel trilogy was he counters with, "Hey, at least I'm Hideo Kojima!"

I think Metal Gear Solid works best if you're a teenager or a brain dead weaboo. Probably also helped that there wasn't a mainstream modern/futuristic military shooter on console till like 2007 because they were so focused on WWII.

I have a soft spot for the series because I played 1-4 between the ages of 10-18. But as an adult it's hard to believe I was ever deeply invested in these games.

Hey guys my girlfriend is interested in playing Metal Gear Solid together. Which one do you guys think I should play with her? I have 2, 3, and 5 readily available. I thought twin snakes would be fun cause it's so goofy.

Either MGS1 or 3 I would say, they're both great as standalone games and don't require knowledge of the other entries to follow the story. She will have no idea wtf is going on if you play 2, 4 or 5.

I would trade a million foxhunts for one modern MGO.
Have you tried "Save MGO"?

Edit:
The Makarov jam is real.

Yahtzee uploaded a video yesterday overanalyzing MGS.
Within the first minute I already have a problem, he implies MGS doesn't really do retcons LOL

Metal Gear has always been more of a console series.
Steam numbesr are not the end all of game sales.

I took several issues with that video. Yahtzee spergs over the Boss coming across as some fantastical legendary soldier, fighting in WWII during the Normandy landings while pregnant, the first person in space, etc, when a partial function of her character is to serve as a mentor/aspirational figure to Naked Snake, who would later become a legendary soldier in his own right by the time of MGSV. It's a work of fiction created by Kojima with the characters and ideas he wanted to make. Who cares if the Bosses' name doesn't sound like an official title? We're talking about a game where a ghost from the past appears in a realm between life and death and sends ghosts of the enemies you've killed down a river to attack you. He complains about the Cobra unit not having fleshed out backstories, yet complained in his MGS4 review that the B&B unit had an exposition dump of their histories after you defeat them. What do you want Yahtzee? I get that he's a caustic critic, but he doesn't seem to have any ideas or solutions on how to improve the series beyond surface level criticisms. The truth is he hasn't liked to series or cared enough to understand it since his first review. Watching any of them is a pointless endeavor.

Because of Metal Gear I've been seeing lots of gun sperging videos on YouTube. Kinda charming seeing how much people argue and disagree on aspects of how a gun would perform, but it comes off so cheerful and exciting for them, like they are having a blast just to talk about it even when they are wrong.

I wish all internet slap fights were this heart warming
