Dear The Dude,

I'm really considering sending that old model bisley vaquero (the one we talked about way earlier in this thread.) to John Linebaugh to have it converted into a .475 linebaugh revolver. Please talk me into or out of this.

Thanks.

I'd send it to Gary Reeder and have it converted to 454 Casull. You can still shoot 45 Colt out of it and break your wrists with the 454 Casull heavy stuff. Or just buy 45 Colt +P+ stuff from Buffalo Bore.

Well I did it. Got my Steyr AUG in lay away. AUGH YEAH

First firearm I've ever owned, Marlin Model 60. Fun to shoot but finding .22lr right now is a bitch. *SIGH* (:_(

My dad has one. If you want to shoot, try ordering ammo online. I've done it. Got one crate of each caliber I care about.

I started on a Marlin and graduated to 7.62x54R AUGH YEAH

7.62x54r is the caliber to buy right now. Cheap to shoot, you can get 700 rounds or so for about $100. Mosin-Nagant rifles are about $160-$180 right now, or if you want some real fun get an SVT-40 Tokarev or Kalashnikov chambered in it. The ban panics have driven the price of 22lr up to insane levels.

And to think we already have plenty of "gun control" in place. These assholes are trying to push Prohibition.

But fuck it, i'm about to finish building what I want. Dude, have you ever heard of the PSL?

Yup. That's another good 7.62x54r to get. The poor man's Druganov.

You mean Dragunov. LOL typos.

This. I have an incomplete parts kit I am turning into a working model. I'm waiting on a custom barrel to come in sometime next month, hopefully. I can PM you details if you're interested in finding out more.

I have decided that with some of my tax rebate :tugboat: , I intend to purchase a Saiga 12. Preferably with wood. Polymer sucks IMO

Taactics5-3W.png

It is an AK that eats 12 gauge shotgun shells, both 2 3/4" and 3" magnums. No 3 1/2" capability though :? Oh well, probably kicks too hard anyway.

After that, I'm going to do some internal modifications to improve performance, and get these on:

If I have to get polymer, I'll try to find this instead:

And a barrel shroud:

That way, it'll resemble a World War I SMG, the Bergmann MP18 is my inspiration for the project:

Most of my "gun money" has gone to airsoft gear so far, but I should get myself another gun. I was planning on grabbing a .357 revolver and mostly feeding it .38 Special as my first home defense gun; like a lot of shooters I own a Mosin-Nagant, which is wholly unsuitable for any home defense situation beyond intimidation. And I really like the .38 Special round's characteristics.

.357s are great home defense weapons cause you don't really even have to hit anyone with it. Fire that thing indoors, and all the bad guys will probably run out bleeding from the ears.

And see, I probably wouldn't even use .357 in it. I really like .38 Special due to the very low recoil and respectable enough ballistics, but I'd like to have a gun that gives me the option of both in case of....I dunno, zombie apocalypse or something.

Got more money down on my AUG. Only $600 more to go!

I'm not big on the space agey looking stuff, but I kind of have respect for the AUG. I'm kind of surprised they are imported to the US.

If I were to get an AUG I would probably get the HBAR model. But that's just me. As far as the Saiga goes, I'm thinking about a custom stock, as the original Saiga wood is a bitch to find. Still would prefer to leave it "sporter" though, everyone and their mother seems to convert the fucking things to "pistol grip."

Nice thing about the AUG is the barrel. It takes literally 15 seconds to swap out the barrel. Also the AUG A3 in the US has a certain number of US made parts, like the receiver which is made by Vltor, to be legally available on the US civilian market. However the barrels are the same cold hammer forged barrels as the Austrian military models.

Personally I like the M1911.

Whatever argument you will try to make about the m1911 being a crap gun will fall on deaf ears. Why? The M1911 was made by a morman in 1911, used in the first world war, second world war and still finds some use today. Whatever argument you will try to make is invalid.

I've heard of Vltor before, one thing that really stands out to me is their PKM receivers. Those things are tanks, I can only imagine the same care is put into their other stuff.

And the 922r compliance does apply to anything considered "non-sporting," I was about to ask actually.

I'm a big fan of the 1911 as well. In fact my state adopted it as the "Official Gun of Utah". I'm looking to get a SIG Scorpion variant of the 1911 soon. Also "Mormon" is capitalized and has two "O's"...unless your point was to be insulting to Mormons. Also 1911 was when the pistol was adopted by the US Armed forces, it was actually designed from 1907-1910.

Yeah, to be able to have features such as "high capacity" magazines, flash suppressors, threaded barrels, bayonet lugs, and so on the rifle has to be 922r compliant meaning it needs a certain number of major parts manufactured in the US to be considered "compliant" and "Made in the USA".
