Alright you got me! I'm an antique rifle nerd! Anyway, on to the list:

a. 1916 Spanish Mauser (.308)
b. 1918 German Police Luger (9mm)
c. 1942 Swiss K-31 (7.5mm)
d. 1944 German Mauser (8mm)
e. Mossberg 190A bolt action shotgun (16guage)
f. 1926 Enfield SMLE MKIII (.303)
g. 2002 Saiga AK47 (7.62mm)

I do a lot of target shooting and I choose weapons that are fun to shoot. Old bolt action rifles are rediculousely accurate and best of all they are extremely cheap to pick up as long as you aren't looking for strange varients in mint condition. I only collect "shooters" and if I had to pick one of these as a good place to start if you want to get into old rifles I'd say go with the Spanish Mauser because they are cheap (under $200 easily) and the ammunition is easy to find and also cheap.

I might take photos later.

I need to get an SVT-40 Tokarev, a Kar-98K Mauser, an M1903 A1 or A3 Springfield, an M1 Garand, and an FN SAFN.

Have I told you that you have excellent taste in firearms? Because you have excellent taste in firearms.

I've never shot a SAFN but between a friend and myself we have all the others. SVT's are my favorite on your list. They are sort of getting harder to find and also a little pricey, though.

Yeah, but they make up for it by lasting forever and shooting really REALLY affordable ammo.

This will be my next purchase.

Space Saving Cut

I've never seen one of those but that looks really cool. How much is it? I'm guessing it's a .223?

My next purchase might be a Spas 12. Sometimes you just need a badass shotgun of badassery.

SPAS_12.jpg

For when you can't decide if you want pump or auto but know for sure you want to scare the crap out of them. Also sort of pricey.

It's an Israeli Tavor. It's .223/5.56mm and they're about $2100.

DO NOT GET a SPAS 12. I had one and it was the biggest piece of shit I ever owned. They're overly heavy, slow to reload, complicated, getting parts for them is a bitch since they haven't been in production in over 15 years, and they recoil like a motherfucker despite the heavy weight. Get a Benelli or a SAIGA 12 instead. You'll thank me for it. They look cool and that's about it. They're as cliched as a Desert Eagle.

Really? That sucks I've wanted one for ages. It was coming down to that or just a good old Mossberg 500 in a configuration I liked.

Yeah, they're junk. If you're going to get a Mossberg get either a 590A1 with the 8-shot mag tube or a 930 Blackwater or SPX.

Thanks. I'll look into those. Shotguns aren't really things I look at too frequently since I'm way more of a rifle guy. I was mostly looking for home defense and figured I'd go nuts and see about a Spas12 since I wanted one for a long time. At any rate it was mostly for if that extremely unlikely event happened where I had to shoot someone. I don't want to accidently get someone in the next apartment over too via huge rifle round.

Also consider the VEPR 12 shotgun. It's based on the Kalashnikov action and is fed from a box magazine so are fast and easy to reload, like a rifle.

Saiga 12 also uses a Kalashnikov design, and is very customizable. I added an AK stock and pistol grip, AMD65 hand guards with a rail for a folding fore grip, and a 20 rd drum mag.

Also have a Mossberg 590 with a bayonet as my home defense gun.

Yup. I just suggested the VEPR because they have a few features I like and they come stock with the AK stock and pistol grip. There's even one with a folding stock. They Also have an integrated sight rail on the top cover.

Nice video with the MAC 11, I wish there was a range with that stuff near me.

Also, I agree with you on the VEPR. Unfortunately they are getting harder to find, and in any case cost a lot of :tugboat: . If I wasn't building a PSL (basically a Romanian made cross between a heavy AK and a Dragunov, for the uninitiated) I would probably save for a VEPR in 54R, and get SVD furniture for it. The Dragunov isn't imported anymore BTW

This VEPR's pretty cool:

What I own right now

Mosin Nagant 1891/30 in 7.62x54R (not my pic but close)

PEtop34earlyright.jpg

Fun Fact: while the Mosin fell out of favor as a primary for infantry, they still remained in service as sniper rifles until the Dragunov came out in the 1960s.

Marlin 1898 model 12 Gauge pump action with 18.5" barrel with "full choke" written on it, can take modern 2.75" shells. My friend fixed the ejection problem and will return it soon. Again, not mine, but my own isn't in as good a shape as this. I can't use slugs in it yet, I'm getting a cylinder bore barrel and a new stock and pump. I'm thinking about making it look like a World War I combat shotgun.

Under construction:

Romanian Civil Guard AKM (my favorite variant) in 7.62x39

Image is an airsoft, but still very good

Also, Romanian PSL in 7.62x54R

I'm building them off of parts kits with custom receivers I am creating out of heavy, raw steel. It's a long story on that, but there's a lot of satisfaction and ego boosting in knowing that you built it yourself.

Nix the Tavor, the AUG A3 will be my next purchase. Putting about $800-$900 down on one in two days. I'm stoked. Now I just have to decide which optic to get for it.

And I'll have to get an Austrian sidearm to go with it, so I guess it'll have to be a GLOCK 20 in 10mm Auto.

And after that, well...these really tickle my pickle.

Nice choice, Dude. Of course, out of the three, I'd go right for the BELT FED

Call me nuts, but I would build a semi-auto PKM or something similar if I had the :tugboat:

First firearm I've ever owned, Marlin Model 60. Fun to shoot but finding .22lr right now is a bitch. *SIGH* (:_(

Dear The Dude,

I'm really considering sending that old model bisley vaquero (the one we talked about way earlier in this thread.) to John Linebaugh to have it converted into a .475 linebaugh revolver. Please talk me into or out of this.

Thanks.

I own an folding stock AK47, a Mini-14, a Ruger 10/22, a Mossburg pump action 12 gauge, a bolt action rifle in 300 Winchester Magnum, a M1911 .45 auto pistol, a 9mm Browning Hi Power pistol, and a .357 magnum Ruger Blackhawk Revolver. I have dozens of hi-cap mags, and a few thousand rounds of ammo. AUGH YEAH
All of which is still nothing compared to the massive collection my dad has. *yawn*

Because Rule 32.
