Well you can always shoot .45lc out of it, much like .38spcl in a .357. I've even toyed with the idea of getting a Magnum Research BFR in .45-70 govt.

For those of you who are into firearms, what are some of your favorites?

Me personally, I'm mostly into modern tactical firearms. I've owned several AR15s, a FAL, an M1A, an XCR, an AK, and a PS90. I don't own any right now, but I'm saving up for an ARES Shrike MCR, which is an AR15 lower receiver with a modular gas piston upper receiver which allows you to swap out barrels, calibers, and even add a belt feed.mechanism that uses the same belts as the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, however I probably won't be getting that upgrade.

I also love lever action rifles, particularly the Winchester 1873. Winchester just reintroduced this model with modern steels and chambered in .357 Magnum. I plan on getting one of these as well.
Merging.

Glad to see a fan of lever action, I own a '94 30-30, as probably stated in the beginning of this thread.

Ummmmmm... do super soakers count? I'm honestly not a gun enthusiast. I do know plenty that are though since hunting tends to be really popular in Michigan. In the UP and the northern LP, the start of deer season is practically a state holiday and a lot of stores have sales for those deer widows that are unfortunate enough to stay behind and watch the kids that are not going with dad on the excursion and are looking for something to do.

My uncle hunts and probably has a nice collection. I was never allowed to go hunting with him becaue well, he is kind of immature and my parents were pretty certain that he would accidently shot my eye out with him around.

Considering joining the local gun club after I finished university should I get work local to where I live now, or to try and get membership wherever I might get internship. Learned how to shoot when I was 13 after my parents decided that a few lessons with the local crazy gunman was a decent birthday present (and oh sweet lord it was) and I occasionally am tasked with shooting rabbits on our land with my mother's .22 when they fuck up the garden or a pheasant when she is feeling particularly voracious. I wouldnt say I am a gun-nut but I honestly enjoy shooting, and due to my family being extreme carnivores we almost always eat the various rabbits and pheasants that are shot.

They have gun clubs in the UK? I thought it was a socialist liberal hell-hole!

I'm considering joining one as soon as I leave college. I wanna do archery too just to have something on my resume that isn't, "gave up a social life to pursue a degree in biology." I had been meaning to get around to looking for places to practice bow shooting that isn't a private ranch, but down south, everyone has a ranch, so not that many gun clubs are needed. I lost mine in 2005, so I've nowhere to shoot.

Hunting's practically a right of passage for some people, especially in Texas. I didn't kill any animals on my first hunt (see: me being a big hippie puss), but it's a bonding experience that every child, regardless of gender, has to do, apparently. It also has to be done with the father unless you live with a really cool single mom.

If you're ever in Vegas and you're tired of gambling, check out this place off the strip called The Gun Store. You can rent machine guns for like, $40 and shoot them off in their range. I spent $20 to rent a semi-automatic AK-47 and it was probably the best $20 I've ever spent. Also the only time I've ever fired a gun.

This is pretty much my list of firearms I must have.

ARES Defense MCR.

Mk12 MOD 0

Steyr AUG A3

STI "Perfect 10" 10mm

FN FNX-45 Tactical

And then I plan on building an AR very similar to this for my son, along with a .22lr kit so he can grow up with the rifle.

And finally the Winchester 1873 in .357 Magnum.

I've actually been wanting to get a Ruger 10/22 for awhile now. I had a blast shooting one last year while camping, and won third place in the camp rifle tournament - the winner was the guy who owned the guns and the runner up was a teenager from a gun-owning family who's going into the Navy after Christmas, so I hope he can shoot.

You should see if your college has a gun club, although they'll probably call themselves a marksmanship club like mine did. They were some cool guys and a lot of fun to shoot with.

I've also been looking into archery and hunting. Deer hunting is fairly popular in Ohio and I know a lot of hunters personally. I've been wanting to try it for awhile now, and would probably go with bowhunting because the season is a lot longer than for gun season.

the 10/22 is probably on every "top 10 must own firearms" list ever made. Excellent choice. I had one but i sold it like a dingus. Wish i hadn't.

I'll be building a custom 10/22 for my wife with a graphite barrel and a slide fire stock. The slide fire stock is awesome because it allows you to bumpfire the stock from the shoulder. With practice you basically simulate full auto fire, but without the expense of tax stamps and hassle of finding, and affording, a transferable full auto.

Did someone say "guns"? I collect historical military guns, plus have a few modern guns. Here's a small sample:

I'm fairly sure there isn't a single gun in the entire country by this point. However, if you want knives, then come on over. Some friendly teenager may give you his knife for free! After he stabs you with it and can't pull it out.

I do, do a lot of fishing and mushroom and leek hunting though. I go to the keys to catch yellow tail, mangrove snapper, and the like. My brother once caught this really long sand-tile fish.

Oh, I love fishing, but it's always catch and release for us (and every other Texan ever). Mushroom and leek hunting sounds pretty fun too. I like looking around for stuff outside. Really, it's just an excuse for me to explore.

No, no! Surely not! Banning guns means people don't kill people or rob people or molest children and there are magical rainbows everywhere! These tails of Brit hooligans stabbing people must be lies!

Guns aren't really banned per'sey and I tend to hear gunshots every few minutes on a good rabbit/pheasant day due to the number of farmers around me (unless Cornwall secretly seceded) and I think you can find gun-clubs anywhere and everywhere due in no small part to the vast seething armies of upper-class, extremely wealthy, and nigh obscenely stereotypical old british men that seem to still be kicking around.

As for whether it has been effective or not in getting "guns off the streets" I sometimes think given how every farmer and his mother seem to operate large numbers of shotguns safely and without accident or turning into crazies, the UK, the USA, and pretty much the whole anglosphere could better do with less focus on stamping down on harmless collectors, hunters, and hobby shooters/enthusiasts and much more focus on ensuring guns and ammo are nigh impossible to get by criminals, crazies, and autistic comic creators with a grudge against a certain local jew.

also that, and fix this fucked up mental healthcare system.

I've never been a fan of AR-15s or assault rifles in general. I can appreciate the AK-47, though, but I'm sure everyone can. I don't like SMGs either or anything that's fully automatic. Although I grew up shooting rifles, so of course I'm a little biased.

I'm not a huge fan of the AR either, but I can appreciate its low recoil. (I'm tall and large too so that doesn't hurt). I actually like the AK personally, and have a couple parts kits I intend to turn into custom-tuned functioning rifles. I also have a parts kit for a rifle called a PSL which is like a cross between a heavy, steroid-pumped AK and a Dragunov. It's unique to Romania due to Cold War politics in the 1970s. For those who are curious, there's a whole subculture of people who build their own personal firearms in the US, often through restoring old parts to being fully functional.

I also have an old Marlin 1898 pump 12 gauge shotgun, but it needs some repairs and refinishing. Plus I intend to give it a new barrel so I can use slugs with it safely.

That's a nice CZ-52 at the top, and a nice CZ-82/83 at the bottom left.

They look like the type of guns I lost in a tragic boating accident
