a beretta near the size of a G19 in .32 ACP is baffling to me, what's so great about .32 where people want to pretend it's a good round? i genuinely don't know please enlighten me to the wonders of the commissar execution larp bullet
from what I've seen "one true caliber" fanatics love the minimal recoil, massive cheap milsurp market, and historical significance of the caliber oh and the hipster status of carrying it
Edit: also forgot Its apparently very good suppressed

i don't want to poo poo it if our friends of the farms like it, but if you aren't klobbed up i can only imagine the use of a .32 being that you're a lot lizard holding someone up so you can force them to let you suck their dick.

I imagine this was probably the major use case of .32s in the 1980s and 90s lmao
jokes aside I just recently got off a bender of .32 research when I saw that 30x so im neutral on the caliber rn

The 80 series was originally built as a duty sized .32 sidearm for euro police agencies. the universal standardization on 9x19 is only about 40 years old.

.32ACP and .380 ACP are very similar in effect on target, especially with FMJ ammo which is most reliable in these little pistol rounds. they generally cant get enough velocity to achieve consistent and good expansion with hollowpoints when fired out of the short barrels that the guns they are chambered in come in. the .380 operates at higher pressures and thus higher recoil, which is very apparent in ultra compact light weight pistols. 4/1000ths of an inch difference in diameter don't make much difference either at the velocities were dealing with here either.

basically this but it's also the most powerful cartridge that isn't aids to shoot in a blowback pistol. in a world where decent tilting-barrel pistols are cheap 32 acp is basically useless however. i'd only use it for historical guns OR if you have the tism for some other .32 pistol.

I legit have no clue why anyone even makes HP's in .380 and below as hick put it to me well "2 holes bleed out faster than 1"

well i liked my old bobcat so the 30x must be cool, my career as a trucker aside
has some nice new features reinforced frame to address that cracking issues the 3032 had makes it fatter but that just means it matches all of beretta's "compact" offerings lol. improved sights, and a threaded barrel model with suppressor height sights and red dot mounting

money. people think you have to have hollow points in a EDC gun. people believe hollow points are a solved science, but that's far from true. We're still struggling to design hollow points that work at low velocities.

The best hollow points are the various ballistic tip hollow points offered for large game hunting, where the size of the bullet itself lets manufacturers incorporate a lot of mechanical features into the bullet geometry to ensure expansion PLUS high velocities making expansion almost assured.

But hollow points meant for sub sonic use like Hornady Sub-X still fail to expand sufficiently in a not insignificant % of impacts.

Many copper monolithic bullets also struggle unless they impact at high velocity and impact major skeletal structures within the target. this is what a failed mono .30 cal wound looks like:

It's inhumane, and unethical. but its got the industry money behind it right now so a lot of deer and elk are going to suffer because of it. It's why I think that lead is still king and why it is still the way forward.

That and middling precision is why I've been seeing it recommended for ~150 yards and in, closer still for short action chamberings.
In a necked cartridge I have yet to see something perform better than the Remington Core-Lokt projectile.

There is zero practical use for a .32 these days, however I will point you towards the absolute Art Deco masterpeice that is the Savage 1917

I only have a 1907 myself but I still love it.

Beretta 3032’s and similar mouse guns were never designed for high round counts. You’re suppose to feed them a box or two to ensure functionality and leave it alone until your life is in danger.

Not every handgun is meant to be dragged to Thunder Ranch for “muh training” and a lot of people have a hard time accepting that.

A gun like the 3032 doesn’t need “improved” sights - it’s a gun designed to save your life when the serial killer truck driver already has half his dick in you.

This guy built a decent crowdsourced map of FFL's who are doing suppressor xfers with just a 4473. Found on Reddit but still better than nothing:

As to the Beretta .32 discussion I think the OP was talking about the LTT version of the 80x that's converted to .32. Beretta's lineup is something like: the 20x in .22lr, the 30x (which is an updated 3032) in .32 ACP and the 80x in .380. Langdon Tactical (LTT) put out a seemingly Beretta-approved 80x converted to .32 ACP that is popular (mdl# 80X32). I'm sure many know a lot more but that's my understanding. .32 is cheap and easy to silence = fun. The tilting barrel on the 3032/30x is interesting also.

[why do I have to look up the spelling of Berretta Berreta, Beretta every damn time I type it?]

Got a set of Elliason rear sights for my Python ordered from Kensight. Elliason sights were the adjustable sights mounted to the vintage Pythons. They're very robust and highly regarded. Kensight is the current manufacturer for them, and appear to have upgraded the steel used to make them. Very similar style adjustable sight to Bomar. I ordered mine with tritium inserts since my Python came with a tritium front sight and I'm used to three dot style combat sights.

I don't know why Colt went with a different style adjustable rear sight for the new Pythons. The new ones are not very good. They have a teeny-tiny little set screw you have to loosen to adjust windage and then tighten again to lock it in. I think Colt would be better served by going back to the Elliason style sights for their revolvers.

All of the above answers about how it's built from "muh military cartridge" restrictions and "muh blowback" and the resurgence in popularity of .32 is trend followers following trends (look at all the guntoob .32 videos in the past 2 years) and a few old junk enjoyers who have always enjoyed their old .32 junk, like me. I also have some old junk in .25ACP which is another total dookie cartridge that I hope does not get some trendy resurgence.

Remington Core-Lokt projectile.
The Hornady Interlokt, Speer Hot-cor, Sierra Game King are all very similar in construction to the core lokt. Good bullets. I use them a lot in reloading.
Beautiful stock, really.
it is. just imagine how nice it was when it was new and not worn slap out after thousands of miles in a saddle scabbard and thick brush.
