I’d agree on with you on everything except .350 Legend. With the rule changes on straight wall hunting in Midwest states it has become the go to for a lot of deer hunters.
Funny you say that, I read his post and was about to agree with you. I've seen plenty of bolt guns and ARs in .350 Legend here. In Michigan the law just changed to allow necked ammo throughout the state news source

Unrelated, but anyone here used 7.62x54R soft points on deer before? Just out of curiosity.

That was a worse non-cartridge than .224 Valkyrie, I completely forgot about it.
In fact there's a lot of wunderboolits that haven't been doing well like .350 Legend, .300 HAM'R, .400 Legend, .400 HAM'R, .360 Buckhammer, 6mm Creedmore, 6.8 Western, .277 Fury...
what killed 7 backcountry is that it can't be reloaded. hunters that are enticed by the magnums (especially new magnums) all want to reload ammo so they can tune their load to their rifle for ultimate accuracy with their chosen bullet (which might not be on offer w/ commercial loads).

And reloading with cartridges like the 7 and 300 prick are a huge cost saving. not being able to do that killed it. which is sad, I was interested in it for a while.

It didn’t help that the Weatherby rifles chambered in it had a nasty habit of spontaneously disassembling themselves when fired.

It's the most successful of the new-ish hunting chamberings, but it's still lagging behind due to a lack of general interest. Rifles chambered in .350 Legend are half the price of standard which is typically a bad sign.

It depends on the brand, I distinctly remember Brown Bear had wildly inconsistent deformation. It works though.
I hadn't heard that. Never been much of a fan of Weatherby rifles (because of the styling mostly) and cartridges for what ever reason. I know some of their guns in the past have had accuracy problems.
Awkward styling and crazy barrel lengths to the fraction of an inch. I think Weatherby is run by the mentally disturbed.

Aren’t .350 Legend AR’s still unreliable?

7.62 Moist Nugget should work comparably to .30-06.

Their value-priced Vanguard line is pretty solid for the price, but that's mostly due to the fact that they're Howa 1500s with fancier rollmarks.

Didn't like the gross amount of take up in the new Beretta 92XI, so I picked up a trigger from 2 Patriots out of Texas, and a Beretta Match hammer.

I need a real 1/16 punch for the safety roll pin (mine are all made of chineseium pot metal, so they... didn't work...), so I only dropped in the trigger and holy shit, I'm split on installing the match hammer because this pretty much fixes the stock single action trigger. Has a nice over travel screw as well, so this actually feels kinda like a 1911 trigger now (as intended, I think).

For .350 ARs it depends. The CMMGs I’ve seen are fine but they were also one of Winchester’s launch partners when the cartridge launched in 2016. The BCA ones are made by BCA which tells you all you need to know about their QC.

My experience with .350 ARs has been that it all depends on the Mags. While .350 legend shares head dimensions with 5.56 the mags are not interchangeable. The only reliable mags I’ve seen have been the CMMG mags but as said before they were one of the launch partners so they had the time to build a magazine that works.

Anyone here ever get the Ruger premade supressor 10/22 barrel?

Looking at a gift for pops. Because I'm a good son.

It was only in the ones chambered in 7mm backcountry. I suspect they just added it as a chambering and didn’t do enough testing to see if the lockup could handle the excess pressure.

I also suspect we will see more of this as more high pressure rounds, especially ones in existing calibers, come on the market.

I wouldn’t be surprised if SAAMI decides to set up guidelines or specs for the new high pressure rounds similar to how 9mm+P got standardized.

I suspect it was something with the rifle not the cartridge or pressure. The turn bolt action is incredibly strong. only the falling block is stronger. if the failures were true detonations I'd think it was likely poor heat treating or some other flaw in the action or bolt.

Congressman Jimmy Patronis of Florida has introduced an act to congress to repeal the Hughes amendment. Most likely won't pass but it's cool it's even on the table.
