Finished X3 so here's my rating so far: X3>X1>X2
I'm up to X4, i'm going to have to get good with Zero and i am not looking forward to certain thing (X5 with that forced bike part right at the start of a level, Metal Shark Player stage, X7 which has something that i still hate with the passion of a thousand suns in it that surpass all in it and no it's not Flame Hyenard, it's X and tthe fact that he's sitting on his butt unless you do something optional fuck that ooc shit), i don't remember if it was X7 ot X8 that has a ice level with a long bike section but i sucked at it)

This initially made me think you were referring to the Enigma/Shuttle success/fail scenario. The one where you lose Zero forever if you fuck it up because you didn't get the parts in time/the right order/the right parts and the game calls you an asshole for causing the end of the world. :tycesuit:

I forget that, fuck that shitty rng

I read in a couple of places that when they ported it to the first X collection back in the day (the one with all those changes that were allegedly done and taken out but there's proof that swings either way so we'll never know for sure short of someone who worked on it flat out confirming) they increased the failure rate on that, but has anyone ever compared both versions to verify that somehow?

I remember something like that with the rng failing me more in the ps2 collection

I managed to get the laser to fire exactly once. To this day I have no idea how. And yet I've never had the shuttle fail on me.

I got one question: How the fuck do i even beat it outside of Rookie Hunter mode wgen he is in his Kaiser form? The area to hit him is really short, he's huge and he hit for big damage and that's without the purple/violet beam! I already have unfortunately difficulties beating Sigma in X1 without rookie mode in hids final form because my reflexes are a bit slow against his previous form so Kaiser Sigma is way out of myskill reach

kaiser sigma kicked my ass
you better have the hyper cannon for extra damage

if all else fails, go back and get the z-saber

if that somehow fails, flush your copy of the game and kiss your ass goodbye

X3's final boss is seriously my least favorite in the series (at least from what I've played). You've got such a tiny target to hit, the charged X-Buster attacks are somewhat slow, and to top it off Sigma launches a barrage of projectiles at you. And if you die, you gotta waste a lot of time grinding those sub-tanks back up.

And then once you beat him you have to escape through a vertical shaft with lava. I ended up dying since Sigma's wire frame head attacked me at the last possible second, and because of that I had to do the entire fight over again.

It's interesting that in a way, X3 is the only game in the series where Sigma has 3 consecutive forms (feel free to correct me). Of course, once you play it you immediately realize why the other games don't do that.

I believe you're thinking of X4. That one has two phases with Sigma in his reaper form and then one more phase with him as both the gunner and the head thing, each of which has its own life bar.

But at least in that game you're given more room to dodge his attacks and you don't take obnoxious amounts of damage from hits, unlike in X3. That, and his reaper phases are easy enough once you have their patterns down (in the second phase you have to lure his scythe the second time he swings it so that it sticks to the wall instead of the floor, because that way he doesn't summon those annoying boomerangs).

I completely forgot Sigma in X4 has three forms, which is sad since that one is my favorite final boss in the X series. Once you get the pattern down, that one is really satisfying to fight. I guess I forgot about Sigma's second form because once I figured out the scythe trick he was a lot easier to deal with.

I guess my overall point was that X3's final boss is excruciating, and the lava shaft escape is complete bullshit since failing it means you have to do the fight all over again.

X4 (i have no complaint) > X1 (a bit rough around the edges since it's the first but overall good > X3 (Kaiser Sigma soured me on this one, the rest is good) > X2 (Getting that achievement to avoid bein spotted by Magna Centipede searchlights is bullshit, that vertical shaft is full of lights that are so tough to avoid, the x-hunters levels are tougher than needed and at the third one they put worse music than in the first two)

Does it use the SNES or PS1 music? Because they're different in the instruments used and personally I feel the ps1 version sounds even more artificial than the SNES' midi/tracker hybrid format

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I personally prefer the PS1 soundtrack for X3. Some of the songs aren't too bad, even if they're repetitive as hell; Vile's Stage Theme and Zero's Theme both stand out to me.

The SNES music. He said he was hunting achievements, and the one specific achievement he mentioned indicates that he's playing the first Legacy Collection, which covers the first half of the series. This collection has the SNES music. The original, NA-exclusive X collection, however, had the PS1 music, which originally was only meant for European and Japanese ears to listen to.

Why not both? The music sounds better when both versions are mashed together. That way, one version brings something to the table that the other version lacked: the SNES brings in the guitars, and the PS1 brings in the synths.

Finally i could play Mega man 11 and i can say is very fun but the main problem i had is that my muscle memory and old traditions keep getting me killed in the game, you see 11 practically FORCE you to use the double gear to advance but i have been playing so many Megaman games without it that i completely forgot that the system is even there, i practically have to get used to the slow mo to advance, is weird but not bad
