You mean that's not something Evangelion was doing? If Brain Powered was Tomino showing the results of fatherless households he was a pioneer ahead of his time.

Eva doesn't really have straight-up clones. Like, sure, there are shows that wouldn't have been greenlit before Eva. Shows like Fafner or Brain Powerd or whatever that don't have conventionally toyetic looking mecha designs. But, retards always wanna say BP is Tomino's answer to Eva or Rahxephon is an Eva clone. Why is nobody else using this thread
Was listening to the Anime World Order podcast about Brain Powerd to occupy my time, and they went and said "The Novis Noah looks like a pyramid because the Geofront in Evangelion has a pyramid and they're ripping off Evangelion!"
NO YOU FUCKING RETARD! NOT EVERYTHING IS A FUCKING EVANGELION RIPOFF, HAVE YOU NEVER SEEN A MECHA SHOW IN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE?! IF IT'S A REFERENCE TO ANYTHING, IT'S TO RAIDEEN AND THE GIANT PYRAMID THAT THE TITULAR MECH FIRST RISES OUT OF!!!!
Shitty moms and women who forsake their family in exchange for status/jobs are sort of a staple of Tomino's works. He always venerates women that are kind and matronly, but also not afraid to speak their minds or fight. Always contrasted with women who ignore their families or are so cock thirsty or power hungry. Like Jonathan's bitch mom who ruined Christmas. Or Reccoa Londe. Tomino shows operate on several insane levels of mommy issues. If Brain Powered was Tomino showing the results of fatherless households he was a pioneer ahead of his time.
I'm pretty sure the last thing Shinji needed was a father figure in his life given what he had to work withYou mean that's not something Evangelion was doing?
As someone who finished watching it for the first time a week ago its interesting how the catalyst to every problem in BP came from Naoko decision to chose her career over love and she wasn't even a bad mother figure to Midori but her mother's actions and the lack of a father figure put her down a path that effected her children as a result. BP is definitely not Tomino's best outing but it felt like the show where he felt the most on point with what he wanted to get off his chest.Shitty moms and women who forsake their family in exchange for status/jobs are sort of a staple of Tomino's works. I will still always find that scene of him pointing a gun at her and crying that he never got Christmas presents hilarious, context be damned.Like Jonathan's bitch mom who ruined Christmas.
His character pretty much peaked there. I can't tell if Jonathan is either the best or worst Tomino character because he pretty much doesn't have much of purpose after a certain point but his VA steals every scene he's in.I will still always find that scene of him pointing a gun at her and crying that he never got Christmas presents hilarious, context be damned.
For me, it's how many times they say "genius' sperm" in that episode.I will still always find that scene of him pointing a gun at her and crying that he never got Christmas presents hilarious, context be damned.
BP is a weird, interesting mess of ideas. I get the vibe that the production was kind of a shit show based on the animation quality at times, but for better or worse, it's a very Tomino show. I think the dialogue especially is nuts at times in the best of ways. The cast is all really strong too and I really appreciate the art direction a lot. The Antibodies as a whole are some of Mamoru Nagano's finest designs.I'm pretty sure the last thing Shinji needed was a father figure in his life given what he had to work with

lolWas listening to the Anime World Order podcast
yeah basically thisBP is a weird, interesting mess of ideas.
Agreed. Its reputation definitely precedes its actual quality which is why I was surprised that it has a bit of a following in Japanese circles online. Now this could be because of the Jonathan Christmas meme or pure contrarianism but its good to see that even something like Brain Powerd has its fans.BP is a weird, interesting mess of ideas.
All the more amazing that he would follow it up with Turn A less than a year later with most of the same staff and crew.I get the vibe that the production was kind of a shit show based on the animation quality at times, but for better or worse, it's a very Tomino show.
me and the lads went through it a year or two back as we were doing all the non-gedum Tominos, generally liked it but we mostly like Tomino tominoing the fuck out so this was def in our wheelhouseeven something like Brain Powerd has its fans.
Despite the lack of movement on the Brains its actually a overall well produced show. The art and music are great throughout (ep. 21 is a standout) In My Dream is an absolute banger and the Brains themselves are very unique designs in terms of mecha. So whether it be the unfiltered Tominoisms or the presentation it'll definitely leave an impression on you.me and the lads went through it a year or two back as we were doing all the non-gedum Tominos, generally liked it but we mostly like Tomino tominoing the fuck out so this was def in our wheelhouse
on the occasion they animated the brains was pretty cool, and "lol fuck you we're splooging the budget on figure skating robots" was a fun humbug
Tomino's hangups are more about motherless households. How many of his shows have you seen?If Brain Powered was Tomino showing the results of fatherless households he was a pioneer ahead of his time.
I will never stop being amazed at how "all the chicks are butt-ass naked" is the least best part of the OPIn My Dream is an absolute banger
Tomino's shows could have been a mother to me!Tomino's hangups are more about motherless households. How many of his shows have you seen?
I'm looking for shit to listen to when I'm standing out in the cold for hours. Trying my luck looking for anime opinions, praying to god they're not dumb as shit, is one of my means of alleviating my boredom. Plus if I hit a threshold of bullshit, as you saw, I stop listening.lol
lmao
what in the literal fuck is wrong with you
like half of your shit is "I went to Shithole and it was shitty! ARGH!"
there is not a single fucking thing you can get out of any anime podcast other than personal details of the people on the podcast
have you considered not consuming media you know you'll hate?
Pretty much everything outside Ideon.Tomino's hangups are more about motherless households. How many of his shows have you seen?
Or how only three of them are actually relevant to story so the rest are just there because Tomino wanted them naked.I will never stop being amazed at how "all the chicks are butt-ass naked" is the least best part of the OP

I don't know why you're judging my hobbies when this whole website is dedicated to cyberstalking people who play with their feces.
I am forming my own opinions. Why the fuck can't I hear other people's?>looking for anime opinions
>not creating them
Based.BP was Tomino telling everyone that bringing women into the workforce was mistake
