Watch any modern dub after 2015. I noticed a decline after 2012, but it's after 2015 that it reaches near-insufferable levels.
as funi's cheap-and-fast style got traction seems to be when they really started to go downhill
not that they were much to speak of most of the time even in the "good" days

it's not double-posting, Say Mark Two
so I've been enjoying new Wataru, I'm online enough to get the general vibe of things, but are there more overt and specific references to moonwebs that I'm missing, like Fat Asshole Penguin is actually a reference to has-been Japanese Youtuber Dickhead Taro or whatever like how KNT gets pretty specific in its references iirc

22 episodes into Orguss.
I liked the last handful of episodes for their drama, but this one is pretty half-baked. Shaia just convinces her sister to ease up on pursuing them just by restating her conviction to trust in Kei. Also they bring up that Shaia let Manisha marry her boyfriend and just do more or less nothing with it - Shaia even throws away a locket of his face at the end of the episode as if something changed about her.

Bizarre question in relation to dubs: Has anyone here seen the dubs for Gravion or Aquarion?

Gravion's dub was by ADV and it's pretty solid. Aquarion's is by Funi and it's just okay. Nothing special.

That one episode in Gravion where they sing the theme song, in the english dub will forever haunt me

Orguss episode 23.
I keep wanting to just call the Mu "Men of Iron", and I've never played anything Warhammer related in my life.

30 episodes into Orguss. Despite Mome telling Mimsy several episodes ago that she'd be fine with Mimsy being Kei's boyfriend, both she and Mimsy continue to act jealous towards each other and of other girls whenever they're around Kei. Ugh.

I miss Full Metal Panic.

Aura Battler Dunbine is ruining me. Since I torrented the show onto my computer, I feel compelled to watch it before I'm allowed to start on anything else, even though Diebuster is screaming at me about how fucking necessary it is to watch it for the sake of the new Gundam. It doesn't help that I'm only here because I was too fucking chickenshit to watch Ideon like a real Aryan would do.
Why don't you just watch everything at the same time?

I'm being totally serious; put one episode of each show you want to watch on a playlist, and then add the next episode of each in the same order, rinse and repeat. And then when a series ends, replace it's timeslot as it were with another one. You can also squeeze in a movie every once in a while if you feel like it.

I started doing this like 15 years ago when I realized that no matter how good a show is, I'm going to get fed up with it sooner or later if I just binge that shit day in day out, I already had all this shit torrented and wanted to both watch it and also get it off my hard drive to make room for other shows, and came up with this solution. I've managed to consoom watch way more shit than I ever otherwise would've.

yeah a lot of these shows are written with the idea you catch one ep a week, so blasting through them quickly can become a drag
I started with a pile like two eps of Dougram, Dagwon, and like something else, and would just set up a cytube channel for them so I could go "oh hey I want to watch my mecha channel" and over the course of the week I'd eventually catch all of it, then swap out for the next pile the next week.
absolutely made Dougram MUCH more approachable

I wasn't just speaking in terms of mecha, but man, some of that I don't think I would've gotten very far if I tried to binge that stuff considering how repetitive some of it is, especially some of the less ambitious entries in the Brave series.

I think there may have been only one or two shows I removed from the list without ever finishing them because they were just that bad.

They were average, totally unremarkable anime dubs.

I binged every Brave show I've seen, and Might Gaine was the only one that got tiresome. Ironically, Exkaiser, Fighbird, Raijin-oh, and Ganbaruger were easy to binge. They have very little dead air, even if they're repetitive -- dead air is the issue more than repetitiveness.

Dagwon's got a few good episodes, the cat one, the pandora's box one, the one with that teacher,
, Fighbird,
that reminds me,, the Fighbird meme showed up on the Grady Judd twitter

Exkaiser might've been the only one I outright disliked. I think it had a lot to do with the villains being incredibly low stakes, which made it impossible for me to root against them, especially compared to someone like Draias from Fighbird.

I didn't watch them in the order of production since when I first started, Exkaiser, Goldran and Dagwon hadn't been subbed yet.
