Am.i weird to think that RahXephon is a weird Evangelion- like anime?
A zillion years ago when finding anime was harder, I watched the movie not knowing anything about what RahXephon was and this was my conclusion.

Would like to try watching the show since it's been 20 years now and the idea of mechs singing their enemies to death sounds interesting.

In the mean time, wrapping up TEKKAMAN FUCKING BLADE.

No, you mean a weird Reideen like (original).

Actually the production of it is weird, the designs were intended to be used in Brain Powerd, but since Nagano went to design it all, Izubuchi took it all and used it in RahXephon by trying to do something like the first half of Reideen.

Its been years since i saw it, maybe i should do the same. Tekkaman Blade is fire, Voltekka always gets my dick hard, such a fucking cool attack.

Also if youre interested, Genesis of Aquarion is pretty interesting serie.

It should have expanded on the lore and world-building instead of devoting entire episodes to the secondary cast (most of them boring and/or irritating). The sexual innuendo was funny though.

If anyone doesn't mind watching 1980s anime, Fang of the Sun Dougram is good. Probably has one of the stupidest deaths of a character I have ever seen though.

Besides the mechs it also features a lot of conventional military vehicles and tanks with legs for some reason.

I loved Votoms. How does this compare to that?
The main thing putting me off from Dougram is the 75 episode length of the series.

A lot of stuff about military tactics which can down the slow the story. Dougram plot wise is centered around a small team fighting a powerful enemy. Besides that, if it matters to you, to my understanding Battletech fans like it.

It is kind of the predecessor to VOTOMS since that anime had had the same Scriptwriter and Director.

I just watched Genesis Climber Mospeda which was part of Robotech back in the day. I can see how they managed to get it to be part of Robotech with the mechs being similar to the ones in Macross. Still I watched it subbed and had a fun time.

Another fun one is Heroman that Stan Lee developed with Bones. But sadly it looks like it will never get a dub and if it did the Stan Lee cameo wouldn't be voiced by Stan Lee which is sad.

pace yourself and Dougram's fine

Heroman was cute

So ive been watching again Gundam G(in english) and something that caught my eye that when i saw the first didnt thought much about it.

God Gundam has atmosphere entry and reentry tech in built(you can argue that the setting suits dont need it since they are just that advanced) since theres one scene where he just flys to space and uses the space boxing rings to propel himself to japan to arrive in time for the latter part of the gundam fight. Still it is a pretty fucking cool scene.

People always call it an Eva ripoff. And, sure. There's shades of it. But the only episode that's a 1:1 ripoff is the one where Ayato gets eaten by the Dolem of the Week and all sorts of trippy stuff happens. It's literally just the episode of Eva where Shinji gets eaten by the Angel of the Week and trippy stuff happens.

It's more of an homage to Raideen. The OG one, not the boyband-looking one. It's not a perfect show, but it has some really cool moments and I really like it's music and atmosphere. Excellent production design and art direction too. It's a show that people really unfairly judge as an Eva clone when there's really much more going on. Plus, it's not like Eva itself is super original. Anno's whole style is just copied from Akio Jissoji. Decisive Battle is just a James Bond song. The show itself is just a weird mishmash of stuff he loved when he was twelve wrapped up in a cool package.

Man the 45th gundam anniversary stream was pretty lackluster, although it was cool seeing Amuro/reborn, Domon and Suletta together. Excited for the G gundam project, since it will be interesting to see how they approach it and how many people will cry racist if they do the same approach for the countries gundams. Alternatively it gets bogged down by sjw shit and the countries gundams lose their individuality just to not offend the filthy westerners

I noticed this thread literally as im watching Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid again. Which btw is a masterpiece of a season with all the drama I expect out of a mecha combined with Kyoto going all out in the fight scenes.

I am always amazed at how many people don't notice this
Zoids. The best mecha franchise. The models are great, the anime series are very good and the designs have so much range compared to Gundam which look the same for the most part.
did that second Zoids Wild (the generic anime one, not the batshit pokeyman one with the amazing character designs) ever get fully translated?

also lol three whole pages before the NOT GUNDAM thread went gundam

I think that can be said about a lot of things in Eva. I do genuinely like the show and Anno seems like a cool dude. But Evafags are quick to call everything an Eva ripoff without realizing that Eva itself is hardly a bastion of originality.

Then again a lot of those people are the "Umm, actually Evangelion is the only good mecha show since its about the characters instead of being a toy commercial" types. So, they're easy to disregard.

I dunno if Zoids Wild Zero or Zoids Wild Senki got English subs. I think that whole new style of Zoids sorta killed any interest.
