All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

God HELP this country - seriously, when did these Republicans have principals? I forget, honestly - they sure aren't showing it by praying for God to kill people they don't like.

4chan has a theory that Melania copying Michelle Obama's speech was intentional.
In that case, you'd think the media would have noticed it immediately, not just an unemployed TV reporter tweeting about it.
I think I'm done watching this convention. Both times have been Trump and co making asses out of themselves in order to energize people who couldn't be let down if Trump pissed himself on the floor.

My brother and I are calling this year, the year of shucking and jiving. You got a black preacher calling an entire party the enemy of God (IF YOU BELIEVE, CAN I GET AN AMEN), Rudy was just screaming Radical Islamic terror into a microphone, like that was going to explain how we're going to pay for the wall or what the fuck rebuild the military means, Chris Christie got to "put Clinton on trial" because that won't look autistic, we keep going back to the assertions that Clinton murdered 4 people in Bengazi because its all we seem to be able to discuss with those 3 House Committies, and the new gem: Hilary is wants to destroy Medicare...the program the new GOP platform calls for turning into a block grant scheme. :story:

Goddamit its Day 2 of the RNC and its already a spectacular dumpster fire.

God Bless this Country
Honestly, I completely expected this. The Republican Party is becoming increasingly bipolar, and everyone needs to cleave to Trump's pole in a sign of support. I guarantee his team had a look at all those speeches and asked them to radicalize them. (Also, Trump's 70. There is a good chance of him actually pissing on the floor at some point. He'd probably declare the floor Hillary and move on.)

They need principals because who will give all the SJW scum F grades if the principals won't?

Sorry to A-log. Principles and politics do not mix! Though I bet they would have fun with Trump's 'pole' .

Because when you don't give a pragmatic explaination for your goals, the means can lead to a fucking trainwreck. The party platform for the GOP is unlike any I've seen before from them. It calls out collage safe spaces because free speech doesn't stop at the school (but I bet they would fight Tinker v Desmoins) and then call for the BDS anti-semetic in nature; they're using the same PC tools to push their agenda.
Principles are essential in politics for the common good and dignity of humans, here is the most recent development that makes me deeply concerned by the change of the GOP identity.
The Party of Lincoln wants to enforce a national voter ID law to combat voter impersonation, which has had a whopping 31 reports per billion ballots. We already have regulations that punishes voter fraud, but the GOP decided to play it's hand early and passed several voter ID laws in states. The problem is the ID laws vary, so my passport might work in one state, but another would require say, my original birth certificate. Pennslyvennia (a state that has gone to the Democrats in recent years but is still a swing state, and commands 20 electoral votes) had its ID law scrapped when the justices decided it was putting an unnessisary burden on the public. One 68 year old woman had to make 3 different trips to PENDOT just to vote. Not everyone has a photo ID that works, and in the state of Alabama, most of the DMVs closed, forcing people to make a long trip to a get to the DVM before it cloaes at an ass backwards time to be able to cast a ballot.
It makes it worse that voter ID laws have had a negative effect on turnout for traditionally Democratic voters like college students, the elderly, and racial minorities as well as blue collar workers for Republican. And the issue is less about being politically correct as it is the people who have championed these laws (GOP lawmakers) admitted they would help the GOP.
I live in a state that tried to pull that shit, and even I was mad as hell, and helped fight for the Court to hear it.
It would be bullshit if the Democrats tried to make it harder for whites to vote by putting the polling places in say, the hood. So why is it OK here to violate the basic principles of democratic elections? And they will do it, because a Trump White House will happily sign it once the GOP Congress passes it without a problem, and then appoint at least one new justice with estimates of up to three, for the Supreme Court to decide the law doesn't violate the Constitution, even though it clearly violates the 15th ammendment. A lack of principals has lead to a GOP that represents the same demands of common rabble, and thus willing to basically shitcan democracy and representitive government.

Seriously. Who do I vote for as a poor person in the United States? The Republicans want to fuck me with globalism with bonus religious fundamentalism, and the Democrats want to fuck me with globalism plus importing every murderer and rapist from the third world here for some reason.

Honestly, Bush wasn't particularly successful in stopping gay marriage even though he made this the #2 issue in 2004, so I'd probably not worry too much about fundamentalism. I'm coming back around after the Mike Pence announcement and you should vote for Trump. The economy is and always was king and this is where the real change happens. Hillary will push globalism five fold and put America last, while Trump will at least make an honest effort to enrich the lives of Americans and put us first.

not sure if this was relevant enough for it's own thread, so I'm putting it in here.

This is retarded on both sides, the delegates (excluding the super delegates) are political non-entities. You could fufill their purpose with some of those waving inflatables they put outside car dealers. Arguably after the anti-Trump chimpout at the RNC the GOP should have. Not to mention the whole "one side said things that involved politics" and "one side tried to murder her husband" isn't exactly on the same newsworthiness level.

Fucking word filter.

I never thought bronies would amount to anything good.

I was wrong. They made the perfect reaction image to this speech fiasco.

Full Quote from the article:

Sean Spicer, the Republican National Committee's chief strategist, invoked "My Little Pony" in defending the speech in an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer.
"Melania Trump said, 'the strength of your dreams and willingness to work for them.' Twilight Sparkle from 'My Little Pony' said, 'This is your dream. Anything you can do in your dreams, you can do now,' " Spicer said.

Let it sink in who said this.

Sean Spicer, the Republican National Committee's chief strategist...

I'm not sure if this tops one presidential candidate publicly implying another has a small dick during a debate, but it's fucking up there.

Like seriously, I want to know how he was able to come up with that quote and even knew the character that said it. Was this an off hand comment or was it a prepared statement?

Is this some kind of insane ploy to get all the bronies to support Trump? I would fucking love to see Trump try to reach out to different unusual demographics to get their votes. We're this close to "Furries for Trump".

Are you saying "Trump will make Anime Real" won't be a meme, but an actual campaign promise?

So if you accuse a man's dad of being a murderer, maybe he doesn't endorse you for President. Who'd a thunk it?

For those out of the loop, Trump accused Ted Cruz's father of being involved in the fucking JFK assasination.

Yes, please tell me more about how you've unified the GOP again.

Side note, Trump's plan for "Making America Safe Again"? Even seriously considering abandoning our promise to defend our allies in NATO from an attack.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-36852805
Asked about Russian aggression towards Nato countries in the Baltic region, Mr Trump suggested the US might abandon the longstanding protections offered by the US to such nations.
