All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

When Trump gets elected and starts putting everyone with a complexion darker than milky white into camps then we can talk about how shitty he is otherwise it's hardly comparable.

So we should just ignore his campaign promises, assume he's going to be Mr. Rogers once elected, and then act shocked when he goes and does what he says he will?

Assuming he will be able to unilaterally build a wall and deport every Muslim in the U.S shows a rather shocking lack of knowledge on how the U.S government works.

The point is basically moot since it's pretty much impossible for Trump to win in a general election against Hillary anyway.

Thing is that stuff like that typically aren't nearly overt enough for the casual observer to notice (especially lower income voters which comprises a lot of blacks demographically), and as such most of them just see the word democrat and blindly vote since it's basically tradition at this point. Also Obama being a democrat helps too obviously.
If you look at a lot of recent studies on political identification, this is pretty on point. While these types of racial cohesion effects aren't as strong with other minority communities as they are in the black community (and they may haven somewhat different root causes), it's pretty consistent. Asians are actually a pretty recent swing, if you want to be able to tie data and trends to recent elections which you may know more about.

I'm not expecting him to do the impossible, but I certainly don't expect him to suddenly turn into Pippi Longstocking when his entire campaign has been predicated on overt, unapologetic racism and xenophobia.

Where did I ever imply Trump would be a benign little imp sipping tea? He's a unethical xenophobe with terrible policy ideas but so is Hillary Clinton. There's kind of a reason this campaign season has been a shitshow.

Anyway I'm done here because politics get nasty and I'd hate to make enemies on my favorite forum.

Mitt Romney will vote for Cruz in the upcoming Utah caucus, urges other to vote for Cruz as well. Notice that he's not planning on Cruz reaching RNC with a majority of the delegates but rather only on denying Trump a simple majority so as to have an open convention. He doesn't even say that he wants to see Cruz coming on top of that open conventiom, but rather only that he wants to see a Repubican (something he doesn't see Trump as) winning the nomination. I suspect that Romney is hoping that the hypothetical open convention will end with a candidate other than both Trump and Cruz winning. It's interesting to note that two weeks ago Romney said that he won't rule out accepting the GOP nomination should there be an open convention.

I never thought I'd say this, but the country would've been much better off if Romney won in 2012. There'd still be a hell of a lot of anger and resentment among those whom are now Trumpites, but at least we'd have an extra four years for that hairpiece'd fucker to die in a tanning-bed accident or something.
