I don't think there is much difference between the two major political parties in America. They talk a lot of shit, but at the end of it, these politicians are all friends. Their kids go to college together, they are having these large state dinners and backdoor shenanigans. I think most of the aggressive talk on TV is a ruse, an elaborate theatrical demonstration that they do so people think they are rivals and to keep up the appearance of choice.

We aren't like Europe where the difference in parties is much more extreme and easy to see. How do the Repubs and Dems differ really? A few social issues? Some fiscal stuff but even less difference there than in social issues. I think perhaps at one point there were possibly some differences between the two groups, but the last 100 or so years they've been pretty similar. That's why they keep the third parties out, they aren't in the club yet. But, if by some miracle a 3rd party candidate did win an election, they would just inform them how things really work in Washington and coerce them into joining their club.

See, if they had simply done that from the start, Trump wouldn't be where he is in terms of popularity.

You have no idea the enormous power information media holds. They could have scuttled his campaign, the major news networks, right from the start if they initiated a "Trump ban".

Other news programs do similar things. Rush will not allow MSNBC to be played on his broadcast, and ABC will not air an embarrassing story about Disney.

But media companies are trying to make money, which I get.

The problem is, the media found very very quickly that covering Trump meant a huge bump for their ratings when at a time they were garbage. They're still garbage, but at least some people tune in for Trump every once in a while now.

To be fair, I'd appreciate a trigger warning before having to listen to Trump stumble over asinine talking points or Clinton's shrill appeals to the youth via cringy memes.

They didn't bother doing that because, just like all doubters today, they thought Trump was playing some sort of scam.

Also, the single words of "damn" I'll get to read when Trump ends up 46/50ing the race is going to be soooo juicy and wonderful.

Remember, in 1980, they played a similar narrative, doubted straight until the end.

Well atm it seems from the outside that its an almost mirror of Brexit, and we saw how that turned out. Also Tumblr is losing its shit.
