The idea of having to find a new planet to colonize is actually kind of interesting to me. It's somewhat different from the usual "save the world" flair and, in the right hands, it can give the characters personal reasons and goals related to the main objective beyond it being the right thing to do or just being along for the ride. And it can make them more likable and relatable.

Too bad that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Yeah the promise of the game was very good. Hence why people are dissapointed so much I think.

All good points. Plus "deciding what planet is good for colonisation" is not an easy task for a single person unless you are an Errant Magos of the Mechanicus.

You have to consider the following:
-Strategical location. Is it too close to the not-collector pirate fleet?
-Natural resources. Is there enough unobtanium here?
-Orbital hazards. Is the system full of asteroids that can ruin the colony's day in 40 years?
-Planetary environment, seasons, global weather trends. We don't want the planet to be like Fenris with a short fiery winter with earthquakes than frozen over for 3 years.
-Biochemisty. Is the air full of toxic pollutants? This came up in ME1.

So you have to be a scientist who knows about biochemistry, weather physics, astronomy and some sort of limited combat awareness too. That is not something that you can get right easily.

Even for a highly trained person, this is one hell of a task. But for some kids who just woke up to inherit Daddy's title?

Well give 'em a break, their face was tired.

Seems they couldn't score the Mountain Dewritos / Hotpockets endorsement.

Somehow, I'm not surprised one of the guys behind this game is a bigot who trashes on white people publicly.

I would be surprised if his ass actually got canned for all this. Because apparently individual merit and ability doesn't matter as much now-a-days...

I'm assuming they handwaved that with the fact that the Pathfinders have AIs shackled to their brains.

Are they stupid? Jaal was leaked to be bisexual, how the fuck do you say he's straight?
Did they even google up this shit?

They're all still complaining that catboi is straight and that they all need to leave feedback so he can be patched bi. Either the strategy guide is wrong and he's bi or he really is straight. But rather than actually trying to see what might happen with a male Ryder if they attempt to romance Jaal, they're just moaning and checking other people's posts and videos. So Bioware is now being accused of queerbaiting. Just like with Cora. Because short hair=lesbian to them.

More hamfisted politics:

They literally cannot help themselves when it comes to shoving politics into this game. Surely injecting real world politics will help sell units. Surely.

Edit:
Oh and I was wrong about PeeBee's sex scene; both Ryders can fully bed her instead of fooling around in that zero G chamber. But you wanna know something funny? You know how in Fem Ryder's sex scene Peebee looks like she's riding Fem Ryder's girl dick? Yeah, that's because they recycled the fucking animations from male Ryder's scene.

Now I'm sure people will (rightly) point out that ME1's sex scenes were all the same animation wise. Thing is, for ME1 they didn't actually animate any actual sex like they did in Andromeda.

I'm wondering how long it will be before tumblr decides that the Peebee/Sara sex scene confirms Sara as trans. I'm actually surprised that they aren't headcannoning her as autistic yet. Tumblr is really disappointing me.

Y'kind of wonder why they didn't go down the Stardew Valley route and just... make everyone romancable.

Tiny ass indy game did that and nobody batted an eyelid because it didn't ram it down your fucking throat you could if you wanted to and that was that.

Quit being exceptional. What it saved is development time - this project seems like it was really really rushed towards the end. The full sex scenes probably was a late addition to the game in an attempt to boost sales.

Saving animation budget for other things by repeating animations isn't unusual.
eat the hat you dick

... Yes, but how will they know you're being progressive if you don't tell them at great length and in excruciating detail about how progressive you are?

People seem to jumping on the SJW bandwagon as a theory as to why Sara Ryder looks like shit, I don't think it's likely not in the least because doing that on purpose is a massive insult to Jayde Rossi whose she moddelled off

More likely they just totally fucked up the design due to imcompetance, rushed deadlines and the engine being a piece of shit. Bioware's corporate culture has been slowly subsumed into EA's for quite some time, you can at see it as far back as Mass effect 2 if you know what to look for, it's just begining to hit critical mass.

I don't think so, you could say coincidence, but lets look at ME1, Male Shepard was based on Male model Mark Vanderloo.

Female Shepard at the time was not based on anyone, and used the standard character creator default.

By Mass Effect 3 Fem Shep has her own unique model. Concept art suggests she is based on Natalie Portman initially, with small adjustments made after the Female Shepard Facebook competition, where you could vote for your favorite version, which was a shitshow. And the model ended up looking near nothing like the concept art.

At the same time, look at the other female characters that are supposed to be based on their RL counterparts. The males always end up looking better, or at least more accurate to their RL basis.

EDIT: One notable exception is Jack from ME2, she had the best work done, and the best promo reel.
