Replacing their most popular characters with dei pandering replacements didn't work in the comics. Why would it work in the movies any better?
Instead of pleasing their established audience they went for a new one who didn't care for it.

They distanced both away and there's no hype. The leaks garnered little to any hype. Supergirl had more hype. There's not even as much hatred for Supergirl. There's just indifference for MCU ATM.

The people making the movies don't read comics so they don't know this happened.
To be fair if what beau says is correct, feige doesn't want anyone reading the comics when making/writing the movies. They execs don't give a fuck. Just make movies that will make monies.

Its what Gunn is doing. Comics are their own thing. DCU is its own. Gunn isn't making adaptations for DCU. He's using the comics as an inspiration.

Are the fans powerful enough to psy-op Disney into putting a Morbius cameo in Doomsday? I hope so.
Doom is on the verge of winning, all hope is lost. Suddenly, Toby McGuire's Spider-Man looks up, 'What now!?' Music swells as camera pans around a mysterious figure, intercut with other heroes reactions, finally pulls back to reveal COSMIC MORBIUS. Extreme close up of Letos eyes.

'It's Morbin time!'

sooo... @el bandito loco, why did that one dude hate pedro pascal so much?
oh man I totally forgot, I accidentally deleted their commentary notes on my phone thinking it was the one for a prior movie and never came back to mention it. my bad to anyone who cared who I left hanging on those posts, the movie was so just meh we didn't get much milage out of it anyways beyond variations of saying slutty surfer or the silver slut. Lol I did get to the bottom of the pedro pascal mystery and it was incredible.

essentially, as a young man, my buddy was psychologically tortured by a man who looked identical to Pedro Pascal, but tortured in a sitcom way. this guy would be on his total p's and q's, and as soon as they'd be alone he'd be super fucked up. He'd do shit (or negelect to) and blame it on my friend at their job, and when my friend would confront him about it he'd be like I don't know what you're talking about, you did that. and then when they'd be by themselves he'd be like "who are they going to believe, me who everyone likes? or you, just some nigger who everyone hates because they think you did this"

the rest of us were hysterical when he told us, and ive never seen him so serious. You know in horror movies when there's like an old lady in a shack in the bayou, the woods or in the mountains or whatever talking about the killer or monster or whatever and says shit like "nobody believes me but the devil himself lives up in those hills, yesum, and ive done seen him. eyes as red as the fires of hell itself" thats the way he talked about this guy. fucking hilarious.

my other friend was like wheezing laughing and said wait, let me get this straight, you're telling me you experienced real racism, for the only time in your life, from pedro pascal, at a k mart in kansas in 2007? who framed you for petty thefts and being lazy? and he said "I know how it sounds bro but I swear to god. thats him, or a doppelganger. he wasn't even a racist, that's nothing I can't just deal with, he was evil bro"

he went on about this guy for like an hour and a half, and he's not a bullshitter but the way he described this pedro look a like was so exaggerated and funny that some of it had to be his hatred of him has ballooned in his memory over the years because there is no fucking way for like 3 years one guy did so much shit and literally nobody noticed. some of the stories he told us were the most insane shit I've ever heard.

That worked so well for Game of Thrones.

I mean, adaptations from book/comic to tv/movies definitely need some changes for several reasons, like how X-Men cartoon adapted DOFP by merging two different stories. But they still kept 90% of characters the same. Like, they didn't randomly decided that Jubilee had to be the one becoming the Phoenix.

Just like with GoT, the changes aren't made for the need of adaptation, but rather arrogance of the producers or writers, in this case, Feige, who is super mad that '97 has got more positive reaction than whatever he's making.

In a way, he's doing that, but he's pretty much skinwalking the character with his one and only idea. He's the worst person they could have chosen to direct those films.

The fuck? lol

In fairness to Gunn, he’s also taking over for Snyder, who would legit have scenes look directly like some comic panels - for better or for worse - and it could just be a massive course overcorrection.

Neither one’s exactly good, but I’ll take Gunns Superman over Synders solely on Gunn getting the tone for Superman right and not making him almost as broody and gloomy as PlotArmourMan/Batman

They should just move on to the X-Men already instead of reheating Avengers shit.
They haven't even cast the X-Men and that's gonna take time. Feige is hurrying with the old cast because of X-Men 97. He's mad that that brought the X-Men back, and then Deadpool and Wolverine brought two more X-Men who happened to be the most popular. He knows his new X-Men won't be able to be more beloved than the old cast.

Now they have the entire properties of Marvel, they should just reboot everything.

Supposedly Avengers: Secret Wars will be the endcap for the current MCU and it'll also reboot the universe, allowing them to start anew.

But that's not coming out until 2027 and most movies in general, but especially super hero ones, are doing worse and worse. I can't even imagine what the box office numbers will look like for a Marvel movie by 2028 or whenever they start the new line of movies.

I already made bets on Polymarkets that Avengers: Doomsday will flop.
Can't wait to get paid.

They do fine when people are entertained and moved. That's why GG3 and D&W made so much cash. You laughed but you also said "aaw". And then, they have charismatic leading roles and characters people are familiar with.

Gonna be honest, I'm watching this movie bc I like the "old" X-Men. They convinced me by bringing back Marsden and Cumming even when they're 20 years older than the actual characters. But then, so was RDJ and nobody minded. Rumors say Feige's casting unknown or barely known young actors who can commit for years to the franchise, and good for them, but I don't see myself like I'd invest much of my time seeing literally whos butchering the stories I like.

Because, what else is for the X-Men to do? Phoenix again? I doubt they'll try. DOFP? Already done and it was great as it was. It will be some original story loosely based on one of the many sagas with the characters acting as if nobody involved ever read a comic book.

They should ideally hire Beau to write a new X-Men story for the movie and just do that. He did great reviving the show. The s02 will be very telling in what direction they will go with live action movie.
