They literally reshot the entire movie, so it's production budget probably doubled. No way is that making return on investment. They'd have to bring back real Cap for anyone to be interested. Marvel seems to be falling into the sunk cost fallacy, releasing movies that don't perform because they already invested money in it, not realizing that they will only keep losing money and also continue sinking any interest for future movies.

Still, I imagine it's nice knowing that Daddy Fink can always bail you out.

Factoring in the marketing cost, it will have to gross close to a billion to make a profit. Civil War almost made it to a billion, but that had the actual Captain America, Iron Man, Spiderman and was released at the MCU's peak. This shit isn't going to make anywhere close to that with the current state the MCU is in,

My only real big issue with the F4 cast is Pedo Pascal.... I fucking hate this piece of shit more than Ruffalo.

Or for that matter, modest booba so she has an athletic look to her. Pettan only makes her look like a manlet instead.
 
I mean she's going to be 95% CGI, you might as well just cast a cheap athlete, and dub her lines in if she can't act (actually, after seeing those clips of Lizzo in the Marvels, I dont think that even matters).

Thing is Julia Garner would make a better Sue Storm than the other chick anyway.

Honestly, I don't think it matters much, I really only give this about a 60% chance of being made anyway. I highly suspect that Marvel is going to start following in the footsteps of Star Wars and start having a lot of projects die on the vine.

No, no, Vanessa Kirby is great. She and Pedro Pascal will have to carry the entire film if it is going to be watchable. The rest of the cast are cheap rentals from television shows.

The Garner girl is an awkward looking creature. I assume they will paint her silver?

I feel like an asshole for making this connection but has anyone else noticed that ever since Weinstein was #metooed, exiled from Hollywood, and arrested almost all of the new actresses that they're trying to push as the hottest new thing are really really ugly?

I've just looked it up. I thought they were setting up Jon Krasinski to be Reed Richards, based off what I saw from that Dr. Strange-Scarlet Witch film. I know, I know, multiverse stuff. Still preferable to Miles Teller, though, who I find irritating for reasons (probably no reasons) I can't explain.

Admittedly I’ve never been a big F4/Doom guy, but when I watched the 2015 F4 movie I spent the entire time thinking he would’ve been better cast as Victor rather than Reed. At least better than the guy they did cast for Doom who I only know from Rocknrolla.

Which is a pity, really, 'cos Toby Kebbell is great generally. Dead Man's Shoes, Black Mirror, the ...of the Apes films etc. Never been arsed about Rocknrolla.

They always seem to get Movie Doom wrong, though: He always gets mutated, like the Four, when, in the comics/games, the point was that he was a formidable genius. Sort of like a Lex Luthor type, but in charge of his own country, and the only powers he had were sorcery stuff from his mum... I think.

Julian McMahon's Victor Von Doom is enjoyable, I will say that. He was a right smarmy git, even if his powers were a bit crap. I enjoyed it when he took the Silver Surfer's board, for what it's worth.

Yes. I'll do you one better and that independent film as a whole has suffered for it. Remember that Weinstein is the one that got Kevin Smith's films distribution through Miramax, as well as Good Will Hunting. The loss of Miramax is one of the reasons why movies today are more corporate than ever.
