I feel like an asshole for making this connection but has anyone else noticed that ever since Weinstein was #metooed, exiled from Hollywood, and arrested almost all of the new actresses that they're trying to push as the hottest new thing are really really ugly?
meh, Jennifer Lawrence was his last big creation and she wasn't exactly making dudes cum in their pants. she was hot in the same way Shoe0nhead was hot, she looked (and apparently was) like the type of chick that would tolerate dudes acting sexual towards her and would be up for it if you said "let's get naked and start dancing as a joke!" or "let me eat your pussy right here"

In general the 2010s crop of "hot chicks" weren't really that boner inducing either, Christian hendricks was a supporting character on a cable drama, and can't really be included as one of "harvey's women" and she was the biggest one of the women guys online were obsessed with in the first half of the 2010s.

If you actually look at the women Weinstein was going after his tastes weren't really as good as people imagine. when people think of hot chicks from the 2010s its mostly the girl next door types with great personalities. Alison Brie is the sterrotype of that whole era for me.

She was absurdly hot, and really played up her sexuality in interviews and pandered hard to dudes in a way women haven't in a dozen years. she was on g4 a fuckload and really acted like she would flirt with dudes than fuck them then play video games and drink mountain dew with them.

And despite people saying "these chicks are really ugly" its not that they're ugly its that they don't dress for men or pander to men the way they used to. A semi-good example is Kristen Stewart, her being barely clothed on magazine covers and being in movies where she's making out with girls hits differently than if she did it back in 2010.

You can go back to pre-Captain marvel 4chan threads and dudes were treating Brie Larson like she was a goddess, and in general thats how the internet treated her if they talked about her. What few interviews she did, she really tried to pander to the current era and do whatever to get her q-score up.

Of course now she's very well hated but it really shows how its less of a "me too destroyed hollywood and we need to bring back the rapists" so much as "hollywood stopped pandering to men and now all the women are ugly/only appeal to women"

Zendaya is absolutely beloved by white women, same thing with lizzo or that cunt that will be the new silver surfer.
who I find irritating for reasons (probably no reasons) I can't explain.
he looks and acts like your average douchey bro from his era. the type of white dude that listens to Joe Rogan or is a fan of one of Joe Rogans friends. the roles available to him/the ones he took highlighted that as well. like in divergent he just beat the shit out of a woman, and in other films he was drugging his friends as a joke or making out with passed out chicks. If you notice the one role people say is his best is Whiplash where he doesn't play a douchebag but instead is a dedicated performer.
and the only powers he had were sorcery stuff from his mum... I think.
i genuinely didn't know that, why even have him with the FF if he has such little connection to them. was he even on the mission that gave them powers?
. I'll do you one better and that independent film as a whole has suffered for it.
you're skipping a fuck load of history with that faggot. The Harvey Weinstein of the 90s isn't the Harvey Weinstein of the 2010s. Harvey jumped ship right around when Eisner left disney and his golden touch wasn't what it used to be. while Miramax has a shitton of hits under its belt, Harvey Weinstein stopped being a part of them and set up his own movie studio in the 2000s, the weinstein company, and outside of Quintin Tarantino's loyalty towards him keeping that company afloat, it was mainly known for oscar bait films and nothing else. the 6th highest grossing movie the weinstein company made was Hoodwinked! Which you might consider as equally good as Good Will Hunting; but most people do not. in general the Weinstein company's films are dogshit and prove Harvey could have dropped dead in 2005 and nothing would have changed outside of different faggots getting a golden statue.

Bullshit.

They are all potato faced flat chested women and/or mutts. At best you can argue that they aren't outright repulsive, but no amount of makeup or sexy dress can make them actually something people will pursue romantically or look to bang.

Modern entertainment simply hates attractive women, be it gaming, animation or film.

Old and not technically “MCU” but it is a show based on a Marvel property: I’ve been watching Legion after only watching the first season when it aired and I’m starting season 3 now. I hate what they’ve done to Sydney and the rest of the gang.

So Farouk brainwashes Melanie, who brainwashes Syd into hating David, so David wipes her memory of the day to remove the brainwashing and now everyone hates him? Everybody just flips and decides to work for the semi-immortal mind-rapist murderer they’ve been tracking for the past two seasons and who is the one responsible for David being the way he is because he’s been a parasite in his mind his entire life?

I assumed they were doing the trope where the bad guy brainwashes the good guys until they break free from his control 3-4 episodes into the season but it seems like they’re really doing the “actually David’s been the bad guy all along and he basically raped his girlfriend” thing for real.

It’s funny because halfway through season two I was surprised at how down Syd was for David and trying to think of the last piece of media I could remember with a woman who was loyal to a man and doesn’t eventually betray him for one perceived slight or another. It was actually refreshing, serves me right for not expecting the obvious though, I guess.

not to be mean, but at this point i look at the years a shows released before i start it specifically for this reason. in between season 2 and 3 the writer overdosed on wokeness and its why his output has been dogshit ever since.

I do the same, but I’m legitimately running out of tv and movies that I haven’t already seen so I’m lowering standards and I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel. I haven’t stooped as low as watching TLOU or Halo yet, but I just finished Ahsoka after ignoring it since release. (:_(

Ahsoka was OK, bit dull in parts. Ray Stevenson (may he RIP) was great though.

try looking up older shows, plenty of "hidden gems" out there from 80s and 90s cable. Its Garry Shandling's show was doing the type of comedy that inspired your favorite comedians to become comedians. Hill Street Blues and LA Law are similarly slept upon for being old but Steven bochco walked so Dick Wolf could run.

Especially as a kiwifarmer you'd be surprised how unwoke and more similar to your views characters on tv had before the last dozen years. Its a big reason people on 4chan talk about how awesome The Shield is now and older shows were even better.

And even the star of that show had a similarly good police procedural called the commish. Then there's Crime Story which was like if Heat and Casino had a baby and it was forced to follow network tv standards and practices for the 1980s. Then there's the king of 1980s television Miami Vice. A show so good its what most of people's nostalgia is based off of.

I’m actually digging back into the 70’s now, I’m running through the original Battlestar Galactica, Space: 1999, and The Starlost at the moment, and in non-nerd shit I just started watching Taxi.

I grew up during the height of CSI/NCIS/their spinoffs and I feel like every other show on television is some flavor of police procedural so I generally don’t care for them, but I’ve never seen Miami Vice so I’m definitely gonna check it out and I’ll probably give Hill Street Blues a shot. I don’t like sitcoms either really but I’m enjoying the sense of humor in Taxi so I’ll probably look into some older sitcoms too.

Thanks for the recommendations. :)

Barney Miller's a golden one for you then. the problem is you're getting near the end. the 60s is where they sometimes just said "fuck it" with keeping archives. then you're fucked

Primarily the parts with Ahsoka in it.

You're not wrong - for having so little screentime and dialogue, he was an absolute presence. There's a scene where he basically sits on a rock and you're thinking: "this guy is fantastic". His apprentice was also not bad. Funny that these two acted any of the heroes off screen. The Night Sister villain was also one of the better actors in it. On the Good Guy side, I think only Ezra Bridger was likeable. Even David Tennant has become nearly insufferable now.

Make sure you catch The Prisoner if you like that sort of era.

Oh yeah, The Prisoner is great, I watched it early on in covid lockdowns. In fact it’s probably been long enough to warrant a rewatch. Thanks!
I miss Patrick McGoohan. He was in a few Columbo episodes, and he was brilliantly brutal as the macho Edward Longshanks in Braveheart.

ETA: Deadpool and Wolverine trailer. They age restricted it.

I want to be all snobby and elitist about things, but it made me laugh.

Will probably disappoint me, will probably watch it. Is the bald girl Magneto's daughter? Hugh Jackman in good shape for a man of 56.

Wait - Jennifer Garner is in this? Never thought I'd see her reprise that role!
