Sony is run by absolute retards when it comes to live action Spider Man movies
Makes you see that Sam Raimi was kind of carrying the first trilogy on his back and passion and even Sony wasnt able to help themselves from inserting their executive demands in the third one (like demanding Venom be a thing when Raimi made it clear he was never into the character like most were and his focus was mostly on Sandman and Harry Ozborn)
What I don't get is... why the fuck right after No Way Home, was a Tobey Spider-Man 4 by Raimi not rushed into production?
Everybody wants another one, it would easily make $1 billion, probably more if it was actually decent.
Does Sony hate money that much?
Spiderman 3 left a sour taste on everyone's mouth, mostly unearned in the audience's ends but earned its development. Sam really wanted to stick with Spiderman being a mostly standalone thing with maybe a funny nod to other heroes like Dr Strange in 2. Sony wanted already a Sinister Six movie with a Venom solo movie being the starting point (tho idk how they would pull that off given that Doc Ock was redeemed and dead and Venom was dead too). Spiderman 4 WAS in the works for a while until the disagreements between him and the higher ups just became too much to bear and they both mutually agree this wasnt going to work out. And again, the unearned hatred Spiderman 3 got from the public and "Funny Online 'critics'" just pulling another Prequel Trilogy hate styled bandwagon didnt help things whatsoever (seriously, did these online jackasses ever really contributed to anything besides making pop culture worse?).
We had something really special with the Raimi movies and I think we never truly had something like it since.
I see many people wishing for a new Tobey movie set in the present time, sort picking up all those years after Spiderman 3. And if it has Raimi back and the story feels like a triumphant tribute to the classic movies, Im all for it...but given its the modern industry, assuming they dont force it to become Peter humiliation porn, they will probably try to build some cinematic universe around it because they are shameless.
Ant-Man is another good example, not that Scott has some cosmic importance to their big villain the way Drax is supposed to, but in that they just made him dumber after the first one.
I still dislike that they went straight for Scott and just gave Hank a mentor role and we all know why they did it.
All because the artist misunderstood the writer's intention and editors apparently were into it so much they decided to just ruin Hank's reputation for the rest of time. You really showed to the wife beaters all over the world I guess...
Oh yeah, lets just forget the time Peter Parker slapped his pregnant wife during the Clone Saga.
They already pretty much ruined Drax's ties to Thanos in the first one. Ronan was the one who killed his family in the movie, then at the end Drax just suddenly goes "oh, yeah, Ronan was working for Thanos, so I guess I'll kill him, too."
Drax could have been space Kratos and yet they somehow shat on that awesome image.
