There is the classic question in superhero media how much the common citizen knows about events. On one hand "aliens did it" is a shit excuse, on the other hand there is probably footage of the spaceship.

Didn't Marvel marketing tell men not to watch their female protagonist films?
There's also the survivors of the Battle of Wakanda left that would tell everyone else of this battle and would link the dots. The average MCU person is aware aliens exist for over ten years at this point because of the Battle of New York.

Its best not to think about the "average MCU person" since less than a year after Endgame there are jokey plays on Broadway reenacting the horrific events of Infinity War and "ironic" stores in nu-Asgard.

Cause really, after
-watching my family die before my eyes
-living in the pain and misery of their disappearances for five years
-contemplating suicide on a near daily basis as I try to rebuild my shattered life
-living in a world filled with people going through the same shit while constantly being reminded of what we lost
-only to have them magically reappear and discover that I'm a completely broken person and not the man they once loved

I really want to watch a bunch of assholes on Broadway making light of the whole thing.

Life Model Decoys were a pretty big thing in Agents of Shield (which was actually good after the first few seasons). So much so that they were routinely referred to as LMDs and you were expected to know what that meant.

I'm not sure where the canonicity of AoS stands though. Probably somewhere between an MCU movie and Netflix Daredevil.

Canon conflict is Iron Man was in theaters in 2008 and AoS: LMD started airing in 2016. Then there's Joss Whedon getting MeToo and AoS kicked out of the MCU due to being his studio show.

To be fair, it's not like we don't use comedy IRL to cope with traumatic events.

A post-Snap world with an entire religion worshipping Thanos on Earth could have been interesting. To normal people, the Snap is a Biblical event and they'd be coming up with all kinds of bizarre justifications of why it happened. Like literally every store sells things 1/2 off all the time or you can only get pizza that's half of a topping or for families that have twins, they have to give up one for adoption. Everyone's got to wear a Two-Face suit or something equally cargo cult. Our heroes are naturally opposed to all this craziness, but they have to be the Resistance because the average person is a Thanos worshipper.
I personally think we had a lost opportunity. We should have had Seinfeld: After the Snap.

A group of four assholes complaining about how things went to shit after the snap? Yeah, I'd have totally watched that.

So I went to the soup stand and now I can't get any soup. Not because the soup nazi told me no. Because there wasn't anyone to serve me soup in the first place!

So I parked in the handicap spot again when I was at the market.

And there was a riot afterwards?

No.

Millennial writing at it's finest "Aw shit, stuff is getting heavy! quick, do a halfassed quip/skit!"

It would be alright if the scale of the tragedy would have been left to simmer to show it's impact. Without the gravitas throwing it's full weight it comes off as infantile shock.

guys, i know how to save marvel

-let all the kangs attack at the same time
-reveal they are refugees from other dimensions where black people get mass killed
-let iron man and capitain amerika come from said dimensions
-the kangs in blind panick merge to form a giant version of themselves, and call him king kang
-let him grab one of the white female characters and climb the empire state building
-the old avengers are trying to gun him off the tower
- when king kang falls after the female character calls him down for being to masculine cap and iron man take a knee to his neck and chocke him to death
-everyone (even the injured) boos them for killing an innocent collective who dinn' do nothin' and riot, buring everything down

what do you guys think?

They really are trying to make this movie look more serious instead of the comedy they kept advertising it as

I just randomly clicked back to page 1 of this thread for shits and giggles… and damn are there a lot to be found
Marvel Studios has secured itself to keep churning more and more of these out without the public growing tired of them and has nullified any competition.

Marvel is fuckin great. They really do a continuous universe well, while not taking themselves too seriously, and as a fan of the comics as a kid, I genuinely enjoy the movies. Cannot wait to see Braguette Cumberbund in Dr Strange.

Since we are shitting out ideas, I would have left endgame for the end of the next phase and had a whole phase with "half the world vanished and consequences" and use that to set up new characters. Of course it would mean fuck all since they set up shit, but this was the moment to put out a Thunderbolts movie for example. Also, all the avengers should have been snapped except Tony and Cap to give them their sendoff, but everybody else new blood.
I like that idea but the problem is keeping actors under contract if you're not using them and then trying to arrange the schedules if they're doing another project.

I cannot wait until all movies are animated, including the "real" ones. Leave actors to rot in shitty local theatres or touring companies.

Seems like a lot of this is conflating AI with likeness rights, 3d scans, etc. Everything they don't like is AI.

That actually sounds like a win, but not for the reasons they believe. It would be an admission that the "Incel" audience is big enough to affect the box office of a major movie. The more they talk about who these "Incels" are, the more they reveal incel just means regular people. Regular people just think, "I'm not interested in this movie and they're calling me an incel? Fuck them."
It's also a shit excuse considering that they're admitting there are more "incels" than women who would watch this movie. And what this "boycott" would imply? That incels are keeping women from watching the movie? Unless they kidnapped them, nothing is stopping women towatch these movies twice or thrice. Incels are the new patriarchy, some invisible force that isn't letting women get what they keep insisting is what they really, really want.

So without knowing the limitations of the MCUs version of the Infinity Gauntlet I'd just like to point out that Tony Starks a complete piece of shit that fucked up trillions of lives in the universe just to make sure his stupid made up daughter got to stay around instead of just using the power to just rewind time and make Thor not miss Thanos's fucking head or some shit lol.

It’s less of a limitation and more what was happening behind the scenes.

You are right that if they had an omnipotent wish granting device they could find thousands of better solutions.

But, in the real world, I am betting most of the actors they had their roles “killed“ already wanted out. They had been at it for a decade already for one.

For fans, Marvel movies were great. Easy to consume, and Fun. But actors want to do “serious“ roles and try to go for awards (Golden Globes and Oscars.) And in the case of Robert Downey Jr, it probably was that, and the fact he was getting too expensive.

Being in the MCU was a guaranteed check, but it also must have hurt their egos. Even Robert Downey Jr said the Oppenheimer movie was the best movie he has ever been, and he wasn’t even the star of it. He literally only played a joyless politician. The exact opposite of Tony Stark. Granted he was good, but it’s very telling he didn’t pick any MCU movie.

Keep in mind most actors are not comic book nerds. Henry Cavill is truly an exception. Most of them secretly agree with Scorsese that the MCU is not cinema, and they probably see Marvel as kiddie/ nerd stuff. They feel like clowns entertaining children.

I guarantee most of them would rather be doing a serious World War 2 period piece than putting on spandex, and waving their hands at a green screen. They would rather be at snobbish galas than in comic cons.

Point is, there Was truly not other outcome than what we got.

If that doesn’t show how far things have fallen…

I like how they think harking back to Endgame will save this shit heap like it did the last one lmao

She was barely in that fucking movie ffs. I don't even know what the fuck she was doing for the 20+ fucking years between her first movie and Endgame still.
Apparently she was off policing another galaxy.
"In anticipation of [MOVIE]...a pen!"

Glow in the dark mugs are RIGHT THERE. Different colours for each of them, this shit writes itself.
