Kang's already been taken down ants, it's not like his rep's gonna get hurt any further by having Doom usurp him. Shit, He Who Remains has had a more effective legacy than the Conqueror variant so far.
Yeah I don't understand how we were supposed to find Kang menacing when we already had a version of him get his ass kicked by Antman. The "main" Kang will feel a lot less special when we already know there are 10 million versions of him fucking around. Although now that won't be a problem if they do replace him with Doctor Doom.

RDJ could be poised to get one of the biggest paydays in Hollywood history if they bring him back as a Hail Mary to keep the MCU viable. It's almost guaranteed to happen as they already blew their wad once when they stunt casted Tobey Maguire to come back as Spider-man to bring people back to theaters post-COVID. Paying Downey and/or maybe Johansson or one of the others to come back is the only Break Glass In Case of Emergency move they have left.
I don't think either would guarantee the success of whatever superhero thing would put them. Even with the Spider-Man characters, No Way Home made a lot of money because it was a good movie that people would go back to.

Compared to the Flash where we had Michael Keaton return as Batman and it was a complete shitshow.

Marvel needs to realize from this year alone and with the success of Guardians 3 this year as that is the most successful movie from Disney this year, that it is more important to have quality to the script and actually give a damn instead of throwing cameos. The Golden Age of Superheros is pretty much over in film.

Didn't he already return in the Batwoman tv show where he was a bad guy and killed unceremoniously?

GotG 3 had shit script that just appealed to emotion. People want to pretend it is still 2013, which is depressing by itself.

No one saw GotG 3 because of the script, they saw it because it had people they liked from films they liked in it. It was fine and promptly forgotten about. Disney's problem is they don't have any of those left. They're not interested in making any movies with anyone that people actually liked or like.

It will be interesting to see (if this break-glass-in-case-of-emergency scenario of bringing back RDJ, Hemsworth and the others actually happens) if three years from now, which is the earliest they could crap out a movie, anyone still even wants to see the actual likeable capeshit people anymore. I mean assuming production starts in 2025 for a 2026 release, does anyone want to see 59 year old Iron Man? You could make a good story out of old-ass Iron Man, but I wouldn't really trust even good film-makers to do that well, much less these idiots.

The trouble with Doom in a live-action setting he is really hard to pull off because he is so cartoonish same with Green Goblin but Defoe did it incredibly well because you can see his face and movements.

Doom is different and honestly, Battle Worlds is an awful direction to go because it just does not translate to script at all. Doom too requires set up which they just cannot do because they only have one film now and that is F4. Thunderbolts does not work and Deadpool 3 is done and you cannot really shove him in. The problem is Doom operates so differently from other villains in the MCU because he is very grand scale. Ultron did not work due to script and set pieces and Mandarin was a joke. Thanos initiates set pieces but is not grand scale to that extent because the events other than the snap were set pieces and could be done on one stage.

I think the only easiest way to do Doom is with the Siege story with Osborne being the second fiddle because Doom always needs a secondary person to be with because he is so cartoonish. If they get DeFoe it could work but Siege requires setup too.

As for Loki episode 5 literally nothing happens, so thats a good way to waste like 30 million I guess.

This, if instead of Guardians of he Galaxy 3 it was Faggots in Space with some other guy that isn't Chris Pratt and Blast Gerbil instead of Rocket, it would have failed miserably like everything else. That movie was working purely on the farmed goodwill from the prior movies from the series.

As for Doctor Doom. Lets just go full retard and make it be a Trump analogue. Latveria is very mean and HUWHITE and has mean all borders and walls and uses CAPITALISM to take over the surrounding countries. He would have ghettos with muslims AND jews which survive in perfect harmony against the orange regime. Doom has the golden locks of hear that can be seen above the mask, and this shit just writes itself.

Also, RDJ may be game (after a shit ton of money), but good fucking luck with Scarlett after they fucked her over on her way out.

No way they'd do Doom as an actual threat. A dictator of some east Euro shithole will 100% end up as Putler clown caricature because god forbid they imply a capable villain that goes against the narrative.

Marvel might as well have Lucifer as a villain because at least this won't necessitate multiple films and tv shows to justify his threat. Though that might be bad because it would imply Christianity is correct.

Oh boy, it feels like I'm back in the mid 2000's
Im legit more excited for kraven venom and web then any marvel movies.

The Sony verse actually feels like it's trying to do new stuff as opposed to following a laugh track formula. It's completely insane but it has me interested.

Venom had soul to it. I liked how it actually had imagination and character conflict.

Morbus was not a Great movie but I had a lot of fun with it. It was interesting to watch a movie about a guy who isn't a hero AT ALL. He's just trying to keep his shit together. It had an old school monster movie feel. Kinda like the werewolf movie with Anthony Hopkins.
Shame it looks like they wont use Keaton after it. They could have made an amazing buddy comedy movie out of him screwing with morbus

dr doom is the only thing that has me interested for a marvel movie. Setup or no setup

Thunderbolts does not work
I don't even believe that Thunderbolts even work in the MCU because they come off as a discount-brand Suicide Squad. Some may argue otherwise, but I long held the belief that the team had the greatest impact with its original premise: the Masters of Evil masquerading as superheroes in a bid for world domination. It was only possible due to the fact that the Fantastic Four and Avengers were presumed dead after the 1996 Onslaught crossover, which made the public receptive to these new defenders. Those conditions don't really exist in the MCU and neither do many of the characters that made it interesting like Moonstone, Songbird, and MACH-1.

What you're saying could've worked if they made another "phase" or two of movies between Infinity War and Endgame. There was an opportunity to show how different everything was after the snap, maybe even show some positives to it, new status quo, new heroes and villains. Could've had your Thunderbolts/Masters of Evil there, stepping up to dominate what was left of the world, while surviving Avengers are moping and licking their wounds.
Instead everything got reversed immediately in the next movie, whoop-dee-fucking-doo.

Pulling off Doom would require top-notch casting. Guy needs to be able to be completely over the top while not coming across as a buffoon, or else he won't seem like any sort of real threat. Dafoe was an inspired choice for Goblin because the man is a master at doing batshit crazy, I honestly don't know who could make Doom work.

…I’m now picturing Nicholas Cage as Doom. It wouldn’t work, but no one quite does over the top like Cage.

Beyond that shitpost of an intrusive thought, yeah it’s a casting that has no clear cut “You NEED to cast X” answer - Doom needs to be serious and over the top in equal measure, and there’s not exactly a list of people that can hit both of those.
