there was some variety stuff in the early post-code era but a lot of the CCA guidelines were "everything that EC is doing (aka not capeshit) is forbidden because it's assraping Marvel and DC" so most of it was clearing the forest so capeshit could grow
Yeah. Comics Code killed a lotta the variety. Horror stuff like EC Comics' output was hit especially hard. It was sorta like the ESRB. Not a real government body, but having its stamp on your book meant being sold in some indie underground shop or sold on every major newsstand.

Most of this was just fearmongering that was spear headed by a retard named Frederick Wertham. It wasn't just EC shit he went after. Wertham riled people up about all kinds of shit. He thought Batman and Robin were homos and thought that capeshit was gonna lead to faggotry and delinquency. If only he could see modern day comics lol. It's why Batwoman and Bat-Girl (Hyphenated. Different from the Barbara Gordon version) were introduced.

But, even after the CCA went away, things never changed. Sure, there's the occasional Western title or whatever from the Big two. Image is mostly capeslop, but there's a few titles here and there. IDW lives solely off licensed dreck. Dark Horse has always had a pretty diverse portfolio. Shit, even Penthouse Comics had more variety than Marvel or DC while they lasted.

It's just show crazy how completely and utterly non-diverse the American comics scene is compared to just about every other region with a big comics scene. Like, obviously people wanna read about shit other than dudes in spandex wailing on each other.

It's an interesting question who is at fault here: The big companies that probably fucked over competitors, the comic shops who sideline anything not capeshit, or the customers who didn't support anything that wasn't capeslop.

How I remember it, the joke in popular culture was that anything not superhero is faggoty artistic tryhard trash.

It's heartening to see so many Vigsbros in here.
Howdy, my Skycrawlers!
And what an awesome progression he had while still being a bumbling doofus. All of those little timeskips really let you to care about all of the characters.
The situation is MJ got stuck in another dimension with a mysterious guy called Paul, and when Pete managed to rescue her, 5 years had passed in that dimension and she had formed a family with Paul.
But as it turns out, they just found the kids in that dimension
And Paul is the son of the villain of the arc
And the kids weren't real, they were "chains" of the villain's spell to bind MJ to some prophecy shit, and when the spell completed, they ceased to exist
And the prophecy was that MJ had to die to resurrect some God or some shit, and Kamala Khan shapeshifted into MJ and got killed in her stead, undoing the prophecy

The funniest part was that there was a flashback panel of Paul looking sad, sitting on the edge of a bed, with MJ in the background, and he says "I'm sorry, I should have told you sooner"
Which led people to theorize he was impotent, or had no dick, or was a pooner

In the end the thing he "should have told her sooner" was that his dad was the villain, but still funny
Holyyyyyyyyy shit, are we retarded enough to go revisionist history again and go "One More Day is good now because current Marvel es even more retarded!". See some muppet really liked the fake kids from Wandavision. Also, lol at Kamala taking a dive for like half hour till she gets revived.

Vigilantes is really the closest to a spiderman story with a beginning, middle and end it seems that wasn't trying to be edgy.

Hindsight says he wasn't wrong.

@ShitLurker It is less hindsight as everything done eventually lead to what comics are today. @wtfNeedSignUp An answer to your who's at fault, and from what I've seen and know, everyone's at fault. Plus the smaller big comic companies and the larger indie comic companies who kept finding new ways to self-sabotage themselves into the bankruptcy over the decades. For the smaller indie companies and self-publishers they're the ones who're closet to being the American version of what the Japanese, French, and the rest of East Asia, have been doing.

Wasn't Captain America 4 already filming? Why would the writers strike scrap that?

Edit: Oh they just changed the title? Brave New World sounds gay as fuck. Captain America: Welcome to Niggerworld would be more appropriate IMO

Chris Hemsworth had a interview [A] recently where he talks about how he's kinda sick of playing Thor.
The original came out in 2011. I am not surprised. While he has had other stuff a lot of people see him as that role because most of the others were not for multiple bits of media.

Also they're going to have him voicing Optimus Prime alongside Scarlett Johansson as Elita. Sorry, even in a prequel series if it's not Peter Cullen it's not a proper Optimus. When he eventually dies (he's 81, it's coming soon) then maybe a successor can be determined.

iirc hasn't there been a few non-Cullen Optimuses (Optimii?)

I think that has more to do with going from Kenneth Brannagh and Ike Perlmutter to Taika Waititi and Kevin Feige.

Here we go again. (it's in español, so beware)
