She's the deaf, female counterpart of Daredevil, with the ability to instantly learn something by watching someone do it... which pretty much makes her a much less interesting version of Taskmaster.

Don't know why they thought a show centered around her was a good idea. Echo was never particularly popular in the comics and she was at best okay-ish in the Hawkeye TV series.

I was a Marvel fag before the MCU was a thing, so pardon my ignorance but who the fuck is Echo?
She's from Bendis' Daredevil. She's one of his past love interests, is deaf, can read body language and learn moves from watching and uses that to fight. She was Kingpin's protégé and he pit her against DD, but she fell for Matt, so that was their relationship drama.

She was Ronin for a while (I think she was the first to wear that suit, Hawkeye and others used it later), later died during a team up with Moon Knight, was resurrected somehow (I don't know), was the host for the Phoenix during Aaron's terrible, terrible Avengers run that just ended (the Phoenix left her after the finale), and now she's... not being used at all, I think, but again, that run ended like last month or so.

I wonder how the MCU will hold up in the future culturally, very few of the films are actually good enough to justify watching by themselvew, with the primary reason to originally watch it all was novelty.
Dark souls has demonstrated that lack of quality doesn't affect cultural longevity if you have a rabid enough fanbase which marvel does in droves. (or drones one might say)

Stuff like thor 2 will be lost to the annals of history, but most mediocre movies will survive for a very very long time. People are already nostalgic about phase 1 and 2.

In the very very very long term people will remember the mcu as a concept but not many movies in it. The movies that have the most chance of surviving 50+ years down the line are (ironically) the ones that don't have anything to do with the mcu, like guardians 1 and 2 or ironman, but that's about it.

Also an inferior version of Taste-Tee.

if it has not been talked about its pretty much confirmed that the writer for current amazing spider run is the show runner for Marvel movie.
so guess he got the go ahead to kill Mrs. Marvel ( Islamic-American) & just resurrect her within 6months.
The process is thru the mutant birthing pod for no reason & it should allow her to match her powers with tv version of Mrs. Marvel.
(mutant issue was because fox deal-lower the mutant stock value) (which people are correct lower her value a lot)

oh wow next I hear there might be some controversy about Dragonball Whatever bringing somebody back from the dead for poorly explained reasons

Dragon Ball never fucks around about it tho. It clearly shows that use the Dragon Balls & you come back to life, some great divine beings like the Supreme Kais in DBZ & the Gods of Destruction, the Angels, & Zeno in DBS want you alive? You come back cause you're lucky (plot-wise)

There's no convoluted & contrived bullshit reasons like comics do.

The death of Kamala actually does matter a very great deal to the character. A central part of her character is that she is a muslim. So having died and found no Allah to greet her, no Islamic paradise (or even Hell), she'll be returned to life with her beliefs exploded. Which is a pretty big deal. How does she relate to her Muslim family when they're going through all the rituals and she's actually been dead and found first hand there is no Allah? Or worse for her faith, she finds something that not merely is nothing but is directly in contradiction to it?

I can't wait to see Marvel explore these issues.

I'd imagine the conversation she has with her parents when she comes back to life will be like this.

Yusuf and Muneeba: So, what was it like? Did you see him? Did you see Allah?!
Kamala: Weeeeelllll, yes and no. Funny thing, God is actually a small, Jewish man!

Watched GotG3 with friends yesterday since they wanted and I wanted to be a party pooper. It's overall better than the second film (which isn't hard) with cool locales, some jokes/emotional scenes that land and a cool last act but it's an hour too long, has too many characters that it needs to tie to plot their end, and the Rocket backstory was so hamfisted I burst out laughing whenever the retarded cyber animals turned up.

Because it's the thing that originally turned me away from the film, the animal experiment plot is just weird tonally - it's way too dark for kids and way too childish for adults to take seriously. You know from the first second that all those cute animals are going to die, and the way it does is ridiculous. The animals are in a literal dirty kennel on a fucking spaceship for some reason and are abused for no real reason than to make the audience sympathetic despite the villain being monstrous the entire film. My guess is that the writers didn't want to make references to actual human experimentation because TRUST THE SCIENCE doesn't look good when the cost is shown, and merchandise is tested on animals, so rather than very clean sterile labs with very kind team that ruthlessly euthanizes animals it just used stock abused animal shelter. It is also weird that some of the henchmen are experimented animals but they are killed ruthlessly. I don't really get why even the film shows most of the happenings despite just implicating shit would be good enough, or what is even the point of the experiments which are just crude mechanics stapled on cute animals like some edgelord/zoosadist. I laughed especially hard with Rocket's near death experience having the animals still be maimed, reminds me of that Attack on Titan meme with the handless guy in heaven. Also the villain ship in the finale was filled with test animals and white haired little girls (kinda demands a "writer's fetish" joke, especially with a shot of Gamora in a bathroom stall for no reason) that needed to be resuced like it's fucking Spaceballs.

There are too many characters in the film, the original team was 5 and here it is 7 with overbearing romantic plot line of Starlord and Gamora, and Rocket's backstory. In addition you have some side characters to be the future team (including a child soldier for some reason, couldn't she be a teen at least? At least we finally have Martyr). Adam Warlock is alright, I thought he would be a faggot but was more the "child mind in adult body" shtick, but he was pretty much a non-entity.

The humour is alright, it doesn't undermine some dramatic moments unlike other Marvel films and most of the joke do land. Like the usual with Marvel, every reference they do is scorched earth to be destroyed within the same film. The villain was slightly better than generic MCU shit villains, mainly due to hamming it up. Don't get why they picked a disgusting looking black person, and why he acts like a child despite living millenias.

Some noticable plot holes is the medipacks being so fucking useful why don't every person stock on them as if it was a computer game. Gamora and the Ravagers popping in after the team infiltrates the area of a space station (which was probably just lazy switch in order since the first scene can't really happen if Gamora is on the ship). How the fuck Adam Warlock was supposed to kidnap Rocket if Rocket would have died immediately upon exiting Nowhere due to it being fucking space (an issue that constantly pops in the film). How did no one know that Rocket was incapable of using medipacks despite being a mercenary who was constantly in harm's way. Why was Counter Earth exploded immediately before Rocket being secured despite no reason to hurry things up.

tl;dr: It's slightly better than usual MCU fast food. Tastes alright but I'll forget about it by next week.

Orgocorp was literally wasting an entire HOUR of runtime only to go "Sorry traveller but your princess is in another castle."

You could cut that entire hour out of the film and the plot wouldn't change.
It's especially weird as the whole corporate flesh crafting thing looks like something out of Cruelty Squad (especially the fat suits) but the actual villain just staples crude mechanic into earth animals or magics away fully grown furries with SCIENCE. It's basically concept art that was too out there for the c asual audience but the producers still wanted to use for trailer shots.

I spotted that the new Black Panther one made it to DVD so decent downloads should be available. Anyone got a notion if it is even worth the watch?
