Some guy liked my alt fashion outfit today. I find it interesting that zoomers think it's emo but people over 30 like it. Then again why would I take fashion advice from broccoli heads?

The only other clothes I have make me look like a Mormon. People like to point that out. I've also been called Amish.:cringe:

I need to find a way to blend these two styles together as soon as I can afford a new wardrobe. Just to screw with people.

Lady operagoers: have you ever been to an opening night, and if so, what did you wear?

I have a tux that I'll be wearing to one soon.
The perfect accessory is a pair of oversized bird-watching binoculars in lieu of dainty opera glasses.

Have any of you ladies ever successfully “lightened” box black hair dye? I’ve been dyeing my hair black for quite a few years now and I desperately want a change. A couple of shades lighter would certainly suffice at this point.
I have heard good things about the crushed vitamin C tablets + Head & Shoulders method, which I’m leaning towards. I’m curious if any of you have any suggestions/success stories?
I think Color Oops would fuck my hair up completely so I’m trying to avoid that altogether. *sigh*
Kinda late but yeah. I used color lifter like 3 times, eventually my hair turned a lightish brown but the texture was like straw so I had to cut most of my hair off and let it recover before dyeing it. It actually looked pretty nice though, even if it was damaged to hell. I don't think there's a way to get black out without frying though

I discovered this style accidentally when a friend bought an old fur coat at a thrift store, and gifted it to me when they were too embarassed to wear it. I call it dark grandma, a kind of hagmaxing/sleazecore/dark academia hybrid.

Im currently intrigued with leg warmers, knee high boots, and platform heels

Have I seen you on edtwt?

Legwarmers should make a comeback. They create a really interesting silhouette, and honestly they would probably be really functional worn under baggy pants. I love how comfortable bell-bottoms feel, but they get a bit drafty.

Platform-anything is based because they make manlets seethe, but they're the eptiome of suffering for fashion. Counterintuitively, conventional heels are a lot easier to walk in. Platform heels have a tendency to get stuck on the floor as you're walking.

I still wear them. The sad part is I KNOW they will get wet and the bottoms back will shred up. I've got like 3 pairs of red corduroy. I'm like a damn cartoon if i like it ill buy more than 2 of it.

That’s so funny lol Im not sure those pics I sent are not me. I love leg warmers they are so underrated, I like the baggy overlaying the fabric creates.
I adore the shape of platforms, suffering for fashion is very accurate. I’ve been also looking at chunky platform heels too. IMG_2005.jpeg

@pork and beans

You asked for makeup and clothes recs, and I am always happy to provide them to complete strangers.

For makeup, on the high-end I always go for Charlotte Tillbury. It's very expensive, but also very high-quality. My favourite product is her Beautiful Skin Foundation, it's my go to and I've never felt I needed another product to diversify. Her brand leans towards the feminine and glamourous and if you want your makeup to trend that way I would recommend her. Her lipsticks are highly pigmented and lean dark, so if you prefer a more sheer look I wouldn't recommend. If you want a similar kind of brand but at a more modest price point I've heard a lot of good things about Too Faced!

What kind of clothes do you like? I'm a vintage girlie and have bought clothes from brands such as Seamstress of Bloomsbury and Breath of Youth, and I've heard great things about brands like Unique Vintage, Adored Vintage, Sezane, Simple Retro, Glamour Bunny, Heart of Haute, Bait Footwear for shoes, etc. Are you familiar with Kibbe types or Kitchener essences? That would help me nail down what to recommend to you.

Bras can be the bane of a woman's existence, especially if you're larger chested. Have you been measured professionally? In store measurements aren't always accurate, so I would recommend you seek out a lingerie boutique with trained, experienced staff that can point you in the right direction. You can also try yourself using the resources at r/abrathatfits on Reddit - probably one of the few worthwhile places on that site. One you're confident in your size you'll need to figure on the kind of breasts you have and the bras most suitable to support them; are your breast roots (where the roots of your bust attach to your chest) wide or narrow? A narrow bust will take us less space on your chest even if you're big chested, and wide roots can attach to under your armpit or even to your back, which necessitates different support. Are your breasts projected or shallow? Are they evenly full, or are they more full on the top or the bottom (which just means where the tissue of your breast is concentrated relative to your nipple)? What shape are they? Do you have tall or short breast roots? You'll need to answer all these questions if you want to find a really comfortable, supportive bra.

I've heard great things about Polish bras like Ewa Michalak and Comexin - their bras are designed for women with narrow roots. US bras tend towards tall, shallow and narrow breasts as well. UK brands work great for women on the wider and more projected spectrum; I can personally recommend Elomi and Curvy Kate, and I've high praise of brands such as Freya, Panache, Molke and Sugar Candy.

I buy my bras at Soma. They will do a fitting on site for you and their bras are GREAT!

I especially love that they have padded ones with no underwire. Expensive, yes, but there are some things worth it.

@The Crescent King I can't seem to reply or quote your message!!

omg, sorry, In my original message I said Kraut Kiwis meaning German Kiwis as I'm in Germany right now and wanted to know which are the best brands that are commonly found here, as they differ from other places! I already have my own clothes and makeup but It seemed like information worth knowing if I ever need to buy something specific. But thank you so much for your detailed message :heart-full:

I LOVE colorful, dark lipsticks, so Charlotte Tilburys' would be totally up my alley, although I have never tried anything by them.

I Also love vintage/second hand clothing (not the same thing, I know)! A lot of my favorite pieces of clothes are from Vinted or physical stores! I gotta say I have not heard about any of those brands, but that may be because I'm not from the UK haha. Regarding the I have never looked too much into it, but after quickly reading a bit about the yin and yang classification of features, I think I'm most likely a I'm very likely a flamboyant gamine or if not a soft classic. I've always been very short and lean. Although to be honest I don't always dress in harmony to my type, I love oversized clothing and clothes that create contrast in general, and I know I feel most comfortable with babydoll dresses instead of other types.

Clothes wise I'm all set because I know what I like (in general and on myself, although it's always good to be openminded and I'm sure it will evolve and change in the future), but your guidance on bras is super helpful! I'll have to find out all of those questions. So far I know balconette cleavages (is that the right word? Whatever) are what I prefer based on looks.
thank you so much for the brand recs! :heart-full:

with no underwire
The best kind IMO!
love leg warmers they are so underrated, I like the baggy overlaying the fabric creates.
agree 100%, they create a very cute and interesting silhuette! Doc Martins and high converse sneakers also give off a similar shape.

If you think that's bad, just wait until you get "milf".
Contemporary definition of "tomboy" is almost up there with goth, anything is tomboy.

How many Kiwis here actually believe and follow the Kibbe stuff? It seems a bit goofy but I think there is some truth to it. Maybe it's easier for me because I'm one of the extreme end-of-the-spectrum types so I don't have to ponder the pointiness of my shoulders or anything. I don't follow the "guidelines" fully but I find that it's useful for online shopping and so on, knowing that this cut will make me look like a grandma, that fabric is gonna look like a table cloth on me etc.
