I tend to shy away from platform shoes since I bought a pair of platform heels when I was at university and nearly broke my spine at least 4 times walking to a bar in them, but part of me kinda ironically wants to own these:

They literally say tripping on them and its really funny because that’s inevitably what’s gonna happen to me in real life if I try to walk in these shoes.

I always wore platform shoes like this and the sandal ones in middle school. My science teacher was a manlet, and the shoes made me taller than him. He told me to stop wearing them in his class, because " he was the teacher" lmao

a lot of makeup rn is retarded because people learn through TikTok influencers rather than makeup tutorials and MUAs. Everybody tries to do the same makeup and it ends up looking unoriginal copypaste and like shit.

i dont mean that in a "only wear what suits you" way. But everyones unique facial features affect the way makeup looks and to create the same look on different people you'll have to account for that (Which most influencer videos dont, lets be honest). And certain looks will be harder to recreate on others. I think, ideally, personal style should be aesthetically pleasing but also not the hardest thing ever, so that it's efficient. Like, make up should work for your face, not your face for the make up, you know?

Faces lIke the first image really do suit a round diffuse look.

screw mainstream taste and trends (I wish they your pics were trendy rn as well though lol)! if you like it, you should recreate it. Without the matching fashion or hair, those looks really wouldnt look out of place. The first picture is my usual make up look down to a tee tbh.

God I hate that searching for it gives a bunch of shit and tiktok "inspired looks" that have nothing to do with actual 60s makeup.
Funny thing, I already do my eyes in a similar way. Thicc lashes + thicc liner + some colorful eyeshadow = works for my face!

Ugh yeah TikTok and Pinterest have made searching for things such a pain, its full of watered down versions of whatever youre looking for. If you get specific like searching for actresses or stuff it works, though. Twiggy, Priscilla, Ana Karina, 2010s LDR...

thicc liner is so beautiful. I know this is not what you wear most likely referring to but I love it when it's TOO big, like in the movie Daisies. So editorial... Not for the faint of heart or daily life...

I used to wear platform boots to work (I was a cringe teenager) and had to cut through an arcade from my bus. Combine a smooth tiled floor, rainwater being kicked in from outside, and three inches of rubber between my feet and whatever surface I stepped on...

In short I broke a tooth.

Have you tried looking for physical books or electronic archived magazines from your target time period? I know I've seen makeup guides for what was then a modern look--actual line drawings with troop-movement maps of where to put everything--in old magazines that I was going through for a different project.

thats for sure the best way, you're totally right . A couple of months ago I went on a rabbithole of finding archived fashion magazines, the internet archive has so many!

There's also a lot of screenshots of many magazines and makeup packaging guides on Pinterest. Too faced packing used to be so cool. Gimmicky... but cool. It makes me nostalgic even though I wasn't there while it was popular lol.

making faces is such a great book, I have the epub on my computer haha, as well as the other one he made. Ive thought about looking for a physical copy someday. It's the kind of book I think would be nice to be able to hold between your fingers. It's got a lot of good inspo.

The good thing about a popular book is that you can find used copies cheaply. The good thing about a physical makeup book is the same as the good thing about a physical recipe book--one less thing to juggle during a hands-on project, and more forgiving of getting eggs/foundation spilled on it.

Project really was unrelated; this was the days before Internet when magazines had to be pored through by hand, and I was helping with someone else's needle-in-a-haystack research project. Got to see a lot of neat old ads, though, and had all the moisture sucked out of my fingers by ancient periodicals.

Sorry for the super late reply. I am forever giving bra advice and converting anyone who will listen so here you go:

Spoiler: Bra fitting advice

First of all I would suggest that you measure your bra size using the 'Boob or bust' method. Measure your ribcage in inches, just underneath your breasts to find your band size.

Then leaning forward, measure around your nipples to find your cup size.

And then once you have your measurement, you can find your sister sizes should a particular model of bra runs small etc

Now that you have the correct bra size that will support you properly and not give you overspill or coat-wire shoulders, the shape of your breast will also determine which style of bra will look the best.


With a bra that fits well and is supportive, choose tops that have scoop or v-necklines to help to make your bust look smaller.

As for sports bras, pick one that offers level 3 or maximum support. I like the type that clip and zip up in the front, with removable padding.

Have any of you ladies ever successfully “lightened” box black hair dye? I’ve been dyeing my hair black for quite a few years now and I desperately want a change. A couple of shades lighter would certainly suffice at this point.
I have heard good things about the crushed vitamin C tablets + Head & Shoulders method, which I’m leaning towards. I’m curious if any of you have any suggestions/success stories?
I think Color Oops would fuck my hair up completely so I’m trying to avoid that altogether.

Anti-dandruff shampoo is good at gradually washing out box dye color (I washed "Black Liquorice" off my hair in about 2 months, but I dyed it only once), although if it accumulated over the years it might take a while. I've heard about vit C method, but never tried it. Head & Shoulders is apparently bad for your hair, though.

Same! At times it becomes more about the color collection. I don't even own a UV light.

I recently started putting a little bit of oil on my hands after I wash them and it's really made a huge difference on my nails and cuticles. A huge difference all around in my hands and nails. Maybe once a month I try and n do ny nails but I just kinda gave up. I do however push back my cuticle cut them if I have to and same as you, slap a clear coat on.
Rarely I go for polish. I'll take all damn day to make sure everything is dry and done right.
I can't help myself I like gold and iridescent polish. BUT I have blue hair and when I wash it its ruins my nails. It's a dumb cycle.
