This is a rant but I really hate how so many 'practical' womens' bags don't have good closures anymore. They've all got these shitty cheap weak magnet closures that pop open if you have anything heavier than a laptop in there. I'm an academic, I have a lot of shit! I need a bag that can carry my laptop and books but I don't wanna look like a high school dork with a huge ugly rucksack strapped to me all day and I don't want a tote bag because all my stuff will get dinged up and it'll hurt my shoulder :(

I got a cute green roll top rucksack with what seemed like a buckle, but it's magnets! The buckle is fully functional and adjustable so why they didn't just stitch it down and dispense with the silly magnet is beyond me. I ended up supergluing the magnets together and now it has a fully operational buckle closure and is actually usable.

It's like you can be practical, or you can be cute, but you can't be both.
Just grit your teeth and get a men's laptop bag. They're not cute, but it's been my experience they're the only good computer bags.

This is basically what I have. Yeah, ugly, but eminently practical. I've fitted two laptops, their chargers, four books, some notebooks, a small thermos, and most of my purse into it. The laptops were held securely and everything fragile was in a separate pocket. I've yet to find a stylish bag that could do the same. The flap is held in place by a magnet, but it's a very strong magnet.

I'm thinking this may have to be the solution, but I'm kinda resistant to crossbodys 😭 The one in the pic is pretty nice though!

My issue with laptop bags is the strap over the chest- I'm pretty top-heavy so diagonal straps tend to squish the girls. Luckily with the gorilla-glue'd magnets my backpack is holding for now so fingers crossed I can stay cute.

Thanks for the tip, the ghostly fucking pale one was just what I needed!
I thought this stuff looked matte, so I wore glittery blush, but I just noticed the Idun is actually quite glittery in sunlight. It turns out I've been unintentionally doing a Twilight cosplay all week.

I guess this is who I am now. I need to find my old costume fangs to complete the look.

I'm fairly new to makeup and I appreciate the ladies at Ulta who have helped me find products. One was able to help me find a lip liner despite my vague description of the color I wanted. Another went through seven shades of foundation before she found a matching one. I never would've been able to find it on my own.

I've also got a fresh, big fat scar on my face now, so my curiosity is picking back up again.
My sister got a big scar on her nasal ridge from something very heavy falling on her face (she lost consciousness for a couple minutes and needed stitches), luckily it's almost invisible now, using Mebo scar and a silicone scar gel.

what is your favorite part of makeup and how do you like it? mine are lipsticks and my favorite are matte in finish and magenta and raspberry pink in color:lol:
It's between eyeshadow and lipstick as my faves, my favorite makeup brand is NYX and they're my go-to for eyeliner and lipsticks now. They've got matte lipstick line that I really love, I usually go for dark reds and purples. Eyeshadow I also use purple, red and black the most but try to coordinate off of colors in my outfit. (Which is usually mostly black but if there's a pop of green somewhere I'll make my makeup for the day green.)
I also bought the Colorpop x Naruto eyeshadow pallate this summer and I've been really enjoying the colors.

My favorite makeup brand is also NYX!!!8) i love the soft matte lipcreams and the matte suede bullet lipsticks, the formula is so so good. my favorite is the shade "clinger" which is a magenta and also "cannes" which is a browny rosy color.
dark reds and purples are so cool but theyre a bit daunting for me yet even though most days i wear an almost neon pink lol :heart-full: a naruto eye palette sounds amazing, wish we had colorpop where i live!

I got my nails done today finally and they're very cute (blue and pink clouds and gold stars, so rococo) but I'd forgotten how much of a pain in the ass it is to type when you have talons. My nail tech was like 'thank you for not asking for candycanes I am sick of doing christmas nails' lmao.

What's a good price for a full set of extensions with art? I was in the chair for over 3 hours and my nails are all custom designs based on some inspiration pics, and it only cost £50!! I was expecting to pay over 100.

My go to is the classic pin-up look, winged eyeliner and a glossy bold lip. Right now I am enjoying using lipstains with a tinted gloss and ethereal shimmery highlighters, I also really like glittery eyeshadow.

I finally figured out how to do a cut crease, so I've been doing all kinds of multicolored rainbow cut crease eye looks - thanks Pinterest!

I don't wear them for daily life, I do it for photography/social media purposes. It's so much fun to do. I'm still figuring out how to do an optimal crease curve, I tend to do it too wide which isn't flattering.

Super-colorful editorial-lite eye looks are definitely my favorite.

What do you kiwis think about MAC lipsticks? To my noob mind they seem really overpriced. How worth it really are they? :geek:
They're pretty basic but reliable as far as all lipsticks go. The 'retro matte' finish is an eensy bit dry but look great as they warm to your body temperature. Don't get attached to any shade of any brand and you're good to go. You're right about the price, though. Went through the roof in the last few years. Ah, I remember when I was young and MAC lipsticks were around 14/15 dollars.

If you live near a Cosmetics Company Store, Estée Lauder makeup is a default 40% off with fairly regular additional sales. Makeup is being shat out like crazy recently, so you can even find nicer brands at TJ Maxx/Marshalls/Ross right now.

Including various shades of MAC lipsticks at Tj Maxx. (Darker shades, blue-based reds - Marrakesh and E for Effortless are two. If you're warm/yellow toned, I cannot recommend the first enough. True warm lipstick shades are hard to find.)
They recently discontinued their love me lipsticks, which I recommend. Moisturizing but doesn't bleed. MAC is the one brand whose products mesh well with human skin, for a lack of better words. They look great as they wear off and layer very smooth and naturally.

Back to Mac is for 6 items of any empty MAC packaging and depending where you live, you can also choose to get a lipglass or an eyeshadow.
Back 2 Mac was shut down this year because Estée Lauder sucks a bag of dicks. The program was around for over 30 years. :(

Eyeshadow and highlighter. Though I have no business owning as much of either as I do. Metallic lipsticks, iridescent highlighter in various colours, glitter matte and baked eyeshadows. Lavendar, terracotta, and rust-coloured blush. (Nars' Gaiety is a cool shade.) Really, iridescent everything.
I swear I don't look like a nightmare clown. I'd probably come close if I had the energy to do makeup every day.

Wow, same! :)usually i wear bold, bright mattes but lately i've been using glossy lipstick or berry colored lipstains with gloss on top. colorful lip with minimal make up is such a good look, i find it so fun and stylish yet low effort
Really, iridescent everything.

amazing taste!:heart-full:
about the MAC lipsticks. maybe I'll buy once once i finish up the current lipsticks i own. I would honestly love to buy Candy YumYum or another cool toned fuscia/pink they have, but Ive heard its got a white based that doesnt look too good on pale olive skintones (dont all opaque lipsticks HAVE a white base though? I dont get it...)

Many (most) opaque lipsticks, in my experience, don't have a white base, thankfully. White-based lipsticks look awful on everybody - they give even the most youthful moist lips a grandma effect. White is notoriously hard to formulate, as is yellow without shimmer, and black. Even white and white-based nail polishes always suck.

I’ll be damned, you’re totally right :) for Christmas I got my first MAC lipstick in the shade Rebel as I was looking for something berry toned but every cheaper drugstore lippie I swatched pulled warm or brown…
I’m very happy with the purchase, the color is the perfect dark cool plum/fucsia I’ve been looking for and I love the way you can build it up. It feels really comfortable and I was surprised with the durability…! Total win.

Be me
Go to Sephora to buy more face wash and decide to splurge on lipstick
>$16 glossier

It’s awesome, wear it all week, drop it in a parking lot somewhere. Fuck.

Now I want replacement lipstick, so I decide to be practical and get something at Ulta instead
>$27 MAC

why do these things happen

The Shoe Gods finally showed mercy upon my poor soul and dropped a pretty badass pair of boots for sale at Marshall's for $25 and the display pair was in my size! I was also happy to find that the straps, when adjusted a bit, hold my sgian dubh perfectly. I'm going to walk around with it strapped in at home first to make sure it really stays in place.
Brand is Sincerely Jules.

Women of the Farms, I come bearing a question...
Untitleddesign_40-844337_1024x1024.jpg

Do these things really do anything? I've seen them before and I was always curious if they helped with pores or some shit, or if they were just placebo magic astrology crystal thingamajigs

(Also bonus question, is it true you guys don't get pockets on a lot of your clothes? Because if so that's fucked up.)

When used correctly they are supposed to help to increase blood circulation and reduce oxidative stress to the skin which helps to brighten and reduce puffiness. They are generally made from quartz or jade for their added detoxifying and anti-inflammatory benefits but it also adds to the aesthetic appeal and increases the RRP. Same goes for gua sha.

As for pockets, unless it's in a coat or a pocket with a zip, I prefer to use a purse. Some garments will have fake pocket details sometimes but pockets in dresses and such are usually pretty shallow and not very secure. I have also seen several people bend their phone by storing it in their pants pocket and sitting down.

I bought matching pajamas for my man and I this year and the women's didn't have pockets. I can't fathom why not having a crotch hole means pajama pants can't have pockets but I honestly don't use pajama pockets anyway. My phone is so big it breaks holes open in pants.

I usually don't care about the Pocket Question a lot of feminists think is a big problem. Skirts and dresses don't tend to have them because it affects how they drape or the fabric maybe won't be strong enough to hold whatever the heck a customer will put in and demand a refund for when it rips the thing.
I have a dress with pockets and putting my phone in it makes my bra strap pop out.

As for pants...look at what you're buying. Maybe buy cargo pants or literally walk over and buy some men's jeans if you can find any that work. It is unfair our pockets are teeny but it's also on the customer to not buy what they don't want. I assume most women prefer jeans that look good over having deep pockets, and options are there if you don't. I've bought scrub and cargo pants before so I could have pockets for camping and work. There's also yoga pants with more than sizeable pockets if you look for them.
