Here's a whole thread about when the job went downhill.
When did the USPS go from the place that everyone wanted to work for to the place that no one wants to work for? (archive)
TL:DR
2008 - Hiring freeze, everyone hired since has started as a Transitional Employee.
2013 - City Carrier Assistant position created. TEs become CCAs, pay was cut from $22/hour to $16.25 (in exchange they got benefits and a pathway to a career) (current CCA pay is $19.33 btw). Also in 2013 USPS signed a contract where they handle Amazon's packages for stupid cheap. That led to more volume, longer hours, more strain on the carriers, and "Amazon Sunday" (remember when USPS wouldn't deliver on Sundays?)
2020 - People started shopping more online, parcel volume went crazy. Louis DeJoy appointed.

Also, most of the fleet will be battery electric vehicles, which AFAIK is by far the largest mass adoption and fielding of BEVs in United States history, possibly the world. It'll be great for data on large numbers of electric vehicles being used very hard over a very long period of time,
My main concern is, personally, I live in a place that gets unspeakably fucking cold. When it gets that cold, electronics just stop working, and even when they're warmed they wear out faster. Batteries and alternators wear out very quickly here. I don't have anything against the principle of electric cars (on the condition that they don't become a legal requirement rather than an option) but I hope that there's consideration made towards the local environment when they deploy these things.

The Prospering Grounds thread has some strange theories.
Apparently there's dedicated Gay Discord Ops to determine wether or not Josh has a hidden family.
Did anyone hear baby sounds?

Makes sense, Tuesday streams are dead because that's the one day a week he has to watch the baby, big fat Thelma Lou gets her hair and nails done at the vietnamese salon and goes out for brunch mimosas with the gals.

I wouldn’t worry about it. Vehicles that are operating every day, and charging every night, the battery doesn’t get a chance to go cold. Basically all cars in Norway are EV now and they manage ok.
Besides, a good chunk of the Oshkosh vans are hybrid so they’ll probably put those on the more rural / difficult climate areas.

The look of it is dumb but I’m sure they did their best with a billion retarded requirements. Suitable vehicles do exist off the shelf like Canoo, Canada post is trialling those.

We now interrupt your slop for a question from our sponsors.
How many grams of protein are contained in a BugFeed EntoBar?
[48 grams] [73 grams]
Whoops, our EntoBars actually contain 48 grams! Please wait 20 seconds, or answer another question to proceed instantly!

What streaming service is that? Some guy on Reddit posted about his Amazon TV unmuting during ads.

Hulu, apparently.

A company selling de-connected, "dumb" products (TVs, Fridges, Phones, Cars, Computers, whatever) could make so much fucking money that I'm starting to think there's some conspiracy going on to suppress such attempts. Imagine having a TV that's just a TV. You turn it on and it just works. Doesn't ask you for an Internet connection, doesn't shove streaming services down your throat, just displays what you tell it to display.

I got about 4 of those. Huge plasma TVs with the digital boxes that Obama gave cards for.
But I haven't watched TV in literally decades. Not worth it.

Josh's second most favorite Tranny wrestler (Behind Jim Sterling) Kidd Bandit has decided to go DFE mode on nearly all of his social media accounts, with his twitter account, threads account, bluesky account, instagram account, and youtube account all having been erased.

Right now we're discussing why he deleted all of the accounts with theories ranging from wanting to erase pre-op pictures to getting exposed for something bad.

Everyone I've ever dealt with says this was the real breakover point where things just totally went to shit whit not a lot of hope they'd get better.

I think the post office is super important, but I have extreme mail reliability issues at my office. If I send stuff from my office it will routinely take 3-5 days to get to the other side of town. If I drop it into one of the (few that are left) blue boxes it's slightly better (2-4) and it seems to be impossible to get anything sent overnight (sometimes even next day) to a town that isn't on the interstate, nonmatter how close it is. I support making the post office great again, its one of the few things the government does is that is actually in the fucking constitution as a duty. The reason the federal government has the power to make roads is for the mail man.
