@Oglooger: Here's some info as to what happened when John K. got thrown off his own show - all taken from the book Sick Little Monkeys:

He apparently made calls to order Billy West and many of the other voice actors on the show (like Gary Owens) to quit their jobs in protest against his firing.

He pretty much gave Bob Camp the reputation of being a talentless hack who ruined the show - he even got Vincent Waller, who'd been Bob's friend since he was a teenager, to write a letter calling him out for some paper.

There's more in the book, but needless to say, John K. doesn't come off well at all.

my only beef againt him is his obsession with off model drawings, his reactionary attitude in spumco where every expression had to be unique and no episode should follow 80's cartoon formulas and him being severely butthurt about the ripping friends, apart from that, I'll still have my framed picture of him on my list of influential people.

I just read through the old Chris Hart thread someone posted on here just now. Wow.....this guy is what gave me that drive to practice and improve upon my manga style just a few years ago!

In his defense, his books aren't bad per se for those who are just starting to draw manga style like I was 6 years ago and I feel like I've actually learned a thing or two about art from him. i.e one of his books the "how to draw shoujo" one helped me to draw poses that weren't just people standing around facing the audience which is a mistake many beginner artists/wannabe comic artists make by just changing up the direction of the torso line during the rough draft phase.

That said, I can never look at him the same way now that I've learned he's not only misogynistic, he's also the Rob Liefeld of our generation from what I've gleaned from the FNOChrisHart tumblr page I found in the aforementioned thread!

I am the biggest lolcow cartoonist of 2015
Vote for me
EDIT: Oh my God speaking of Chris Hart I bought this pack of manga art pens to outline my water color paintings with. I saw the package and I nearly pooped meself

Carlos Latuff, anyone? Might be more of a horrorcow, actually, given that he's expressed support for, among others, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, Saddam Hussein, and both the Virginia Tech and Dark Knight Rises killers.

I've mentioned these people before, but I'd consider Brooke McEldowney (artsy modern Frank Miller if you replaced fascism with faux intellectualism) and Tom Batiuk to be the bigger, more obscure lolcows in comic strips. Batiuk is so wrapped up in being a "serious artist" that the ugliness, angst and persecution complex against artistic genius can be seen in his works.

As for Jim Davis, my respect for him went up with he not only told the guy who made Garfield Minus Garfield that he liked his work, but helped him make physical copies of the strips to the buying public.

EDIT:
While it's been years since I read Faith Mouse, I have to wonder if Dan has some self-loathing issues. Since Benjamin Bear (I think that's the one with the glasses is called) is based off of him (mainly his worst traits), I had to wonder when he did strips where we get a flashback of him date-raping Faith Mouse (or at least copping a few feels off of her). Though Faithmouse lets her own kids torment him during a visit in revenge. Or this old one where Benjamin is getting scared/turned-on by Sadam's execution video.

Speaking of Oda, he doesn't really qualify, but the dude has a weird lifestyle.
He's literally working himself to death. He says he only sleeps around 3-4 hours a day on average like it's the most normal thing ever, and he has been hospitalized due to health issues before. Not to mention he's apparently a hell of a chain-smoker and shows no signs of stopping.
I'm quite aware manga editors are pushy as all hell but he might not live to write the end of his manga if he keeps up like this. I can't tell if he's that passionate about his work or if he just loves the money it makes that much.

I don't think Oda was being serious there, just to note. In the same "explanation" of his schedule he also had things like "Cossack dance for five hours" and "Watch porn for eight hours."

Lolcow cartoonists, eh? Well, I know I had a couple like Scott Adams and Bruce Tinsley, but most of you guys seemed to cover them.

In fact, it feels like most of the newspaper comics today are made by bitter old people, and most that seemed laid back or just generally nice ended their strips or distance themselves away from the medium as a whole (there are exceptions, like Stephan Pastis).

Scott Adams is too successful to be a lolcow.

Tinsley is funny but most of his idiocy is IRL and not Internet. For instance, getting busted driving plastered out of his mind and then doing strips bitching about the judge, like the whole thing wasn't his own fault for being a degenerate drunk.

Also arguably too successful to be a lolcow. Sure, his comic is utter shit, but it's syndicated all over the place.

I noticed Ray Billingsley has those bitter old man moments as well. He loves to complain through his comic (Curtis) how rap music has destroyed the chances for "true" black musical artists (ones that do piano and such) and characters can be horrid people at times and get away with it.

Greg Evans and his daughter also seem to have some issues that are shown in the recent Luann comics. Both of them love to bash Tiffany (the vain, shallow popular girl) despite the fact that she's the only character with any real ambition and hasn't been mean to the rest of the cast for years. While the "good" characters like "Nice Guy" Gunther is a passive-aggressive jerk who has mommy-issues and "inner-beauty" Luann has no real substance as a person. I find that if you look at the kind of people a writer bashes the most, there may be some issues inside.

This goes back a long way... I'm certain most of you know about Al Capp and what happened to his strip, but back in the 30s, there was Percy Crosby, who drew the strip Skippy - sort of a precursor to Peanuts and Calvin and Hobbes.

He apparently went mental at some point - his strip became more of a vehicle for his diatribes against FDR, and he believed that when the IRS caught him for tax evasion, it was due to his politics.

His family has a long-standing vendetta against the Skippy peanut butter company, thinking that they're infringing on his trademark. They even believe that the people behind Skippy conspired to put Crosby in jail!

I was going to say Christopher Hart but I guess he already has his very own thread: https://kiwifarms.net/threads/chris-hart.773/
Yeah, but that's been dormant for over a year now, and at this point, he's not really worth mentioning. Not saying he's any less of worth than his fellow cows, but we've never had a steady stream of conversation of him since last year.

If we can mention cartoonists from this era then Harold Gray, the creator of Little Orphan Annie definitely counts as well. Not only did he also use his comic strip as a platform for anti-FDR politics (which included briefly killing off Daddy Warbucks), he unintentionally depicted Daddy Warbucks as being cold and corrupted by doing things such as arranging for Annie's kidnappers to have an unfair trial. Or outright having them killed.

I dunno I think he was rather nuts.

I loathe Carlos Latuff. What a nasty, misanthropic person.

On a more humorous note, he claimed to support free speech & whatnot, yet his DeviantART Profile (pre-2010, he's moved to Twitter) has comments disabled on nearly every picture.

His entry on the Bad Webcomics Wiki has a rather fascinating example of this. The author of his entry there is actually an Israeli who does not support the war, and he left a comment on one of Latuff's cartoons saying that he agreed with most of it, but that Latuff made a minor factual error.

Latuff deleted the comment and blocked the guy from ever commenting on his stuff again.

SJWs love Latuff, of course. I wonder if that would change if they knew, as mentioned, that the man was literally pro-serial killer. I'd imagine not.*sigh*

How about Ben Garrison? While what has been done to the dude is basically the meanest thing 4chan ever did, he's really contributed to it by constantly sperging about it and threatening lawsuits and all kinds of silly shit.

Short version in case anyone doesn't know, Ben Garrison is a libertarian cartoonist whose works are, for whatever reason, very easy to turn into anti-Semitic slurs by just replacing things in them with "le happy merchant" meme pictures.

Anyway, he has spent years being assblasted about this, as pretty much any time he makes a new cartoon, there's something like this made from it within hours.

I doubt he deserves his own thread, but he's a minor lolcow and a cartoonist.

I'm glad someone mentioned Dobson, even though it took until Page 2. Other than Dobby, I'd cast a vote for Aaron Diaz, of Dresden Codak. A whinier little bitch in the webcomic world you'd be hard pressed to find. He tweets all day about gender roles, watches video games and anime, faps around, and then complains how haaaarrrrd it is to finish a fucking page of his comic.

I'm glad I've decided as of late to get serious about my own upcoming webcomic and cut out the negative influences that would prevent me from doing so such as wasting non break time in internet forums like these (no offense to my fellow kiwis, but I feel I spend waaayyyyyy too much time on here some days :))

Anyway, I don't know Aaron's life story, but it sounds to me he's wasting too much time faffing about on the internet like I used to a few months ago before I started working out. (I would no joke spend ALL day in my room only coming outside for food or bathroom breaks playing video games or dicking around on the internet) Penny Arcade is well known for updating three times a week come hell or high water since 1999 albeit they did have to resort to guest strips that one time when Gabe got too sick to even draw when he came down with whatever it was. Most comics I follow update once or twice a week or even every other week in some cases. There is literally no excuse not to draw especially in this day and age where you can access your online art programs from your ipad/tablet and go to town from there!

Speaking of lazy fucks who are also lolcow cartoonists, I think somebody already mentioned the MegaTokyo guy am I right?

I don't think so, but yeah, Gallagher's a lazy man who really needs to learn how to draw organic beings. I mean seriously, both the humans and creatures look fucking abysmal and about to fall asleep at any moment. I do have to ask what else makes him a lolcow though.

From what I've read on his ED page, Gallagher's...

Another insecure whiny loser who will throw a hissy fit over just about anything even in real life.

The prime example of why you shouldn't do webcomics if you can't stick to a regular updating schedule. If you're sick/get in a wreck/have a death in the family/mother nature's wrath cuts off your internet access for a few days, that's understandable. Most of the time, Gallagher's just been plain lazy when it comes to updating his weeaboo pencil sketch magnum opus.

In addition to the above, Gallagher as far as I know doesn't have any secondary source of income. If he updated MegaTokyo three times a week like PA does, this would probably be fine, but due to his aforementioned chronic laziness, I'm scratching my brain as to how he and his wife (and their kid) get by aside from welfare.

is one of those types of people who turn out be hypocritical about something they said when something unsavory from their past turns up at some point. In Gallagher's case, he specifically said that if any Rule 34 drawings of MegaTokyo showed up on the internet, he would end the comic right then and there! No guesses as to what trolls found later on drawn by Gallagher himself!
