From what I've read on his ED page, Gallagher's...

Another insecure whiny loser who will throw a hissy fit over just about anything even in real life.

The prime example of why you shouldn't do webcomics if you can't stick to a regular updating schedule. If you're sick/get in a wreck/have a death in the family/mother nature's wrath cuts off your internet access for a few days, that's understandable. Most of the time, Gallagher's just been plain lazy when it comes to updating his weeaboo pencil sketch magnum opus.

In addition to the above, Gallagher as far as I know doesn't have any secondary source of income. If he updated MegaTokyo three times a week like PA does, this would probably be fine, but due to his aforementioned chronic laziness, I'm scratching my brain as to how he and his wife (and their kid) get by aside from welfare.

is one of those types of people who turn out be hypocritical about something they said when something unsavory from their past turns up at some point. In Gallagher's case, he specifically said that if any Rule 34 drawings of MegaTokyo showed up on the internet, he would end the comic right then and there! No guesses as to what trolls found later on drawn by Gallagher himself!
Oh my god, this guy's a total idiot and a hypocrite. Two things that don't help anyone's credibility. I mean I would understand if he wee lazy (it's a force of habit, even if it's a non-excuse for a regular webcomic). But my question is this: Does he block people when they criticize his art?

Oh, yes. Absolutely he will. Over nigh on just about anything that isn't a loving ass-pat or ego enabling handjob.

Figures he's got an ego the size of Dobson's. The only difference I can see is that Dobson can't get an asspat or a handjob to his e-penis to save his life.

Well that's not entirely true. Somebody other than trolls keeps giving him money for his patreon account.

Speaking as a cartoonist, I have to cringe at dummies like Preston.
He could make a great franchise from his own online infamy, but
cannot, due to having a total lack of humour about himself...

He should ditch the political wankfest, and work on drawing hands properly...

Like you said on Dobson's thread, imagine if he put all that energy into drawing/improving instead of whining on Twitter. His art would actually be good!

Though it's odd how his art got progressively worse over the past couple of years (2009-2011 wasn't very good, either. The human character expressions are/were awful).

Some recent pictures look almost intentionally ugly.

...well, perhaps he's just being lazy.

Heh, Dobson actually inspired me to improve on my own art. I'll say this, though: Hands are difficult. I redrew one hand pose 5 times and I still think it looks off. Oy.

Dobbles actually used to do decent art back in his college days
...And he put all those pics in storage even though he has literally not done better in years and he should be hiding his new shit instead

Apparently he doesn't like it because there are "bad emotions" and he thinks that he was in a "dark place" at that time just judging by the pictures. Art doesn't necessarily have to reflect your emotions if you don't want it to, like I'm really fucking emo but I draw the cutesiest shit ever

Thing is, you can kind of feel sorry for Dobson... kind of.

Diaz is a whole 'nother level of shit, though. His comic doesn't look the worst, but it has no internal consistency because he jerks off too long between pages, and by he time he gets around to making a new page, he's already forgotten what he did on the last one. He keeps dropping hints Marvel or Disney should let him do covers or something, but he has no ability to stick to a deadline the way real professionals do.

You know, I can tell you, I've been in the webcomic game for eight or nine years now, and I can say from personal experience that most comickers will sort of band together to help each other out. But not once (not once!) have I ever heard anything good about Diaz. I've never heard of anyone saying, "Gee, Arron gave me some good advice about such and such," or, "I was at a convention and went to a panel Arron was on and he really inspired me to stretch as an artist," or "Man, Aaron gave me a great tip on how to draw this, that, or the other," or, "Wow, met Aaron Diaz, and he was so cool! Really friendly, nice guy, approachable, etc." All I have ever heard about him is ego, ego, ego. The guy you never want to play board games with because he'll argue every little rule when it goes against him, but argue the opposite when the rule goes against other players. I've heard him described as arrogant, egotist, condescending, self-important, even rude.

But never anything good.

my only beef againt him is his obsession with off model drawings, his reactionary attitude in spumco where every expression had to be unique and no episode should follow 80's cartoon formulas and him being severely butthurt about the ripping friends, apart from that, I'll still have my framed picture of him on my list of influential people.
Inverted Curves Man has to be one of the most immature things that John K. ever did.

@RepQuest: No, that'd be the time he made angry phone calls to all the voice actors on his show after he got fired ordering them not to work on it.

D Murphy of With Fetus. It's a webcomic about an abortion clinic, there's been a ton of drama with D Murphy moderating the comments because he didn't like critical comments but allowed one commenter who drove people away in droves, wouldn't let someone respond to a comment directly calling them out, tried to cause drama in another webcomic's comment section, uses his comic as a soapbox for his self-hating brand of feminism. His art style is awful, his character development means everyone is the worst possible human ever or a pushover, and it's just a train wreck I can't stop watching.

I just remembered one of the saddest, most self-congratulatory things that I've seen a cartoonist ever do. Funky Winkerbean creator, Tom Batiuk, let it out to the press about a month or two early that he was going to do an arc on gay issues by having a storyline where a gay couple wants to go to prom. In the story, a group of moralists protest the boys' attempt to go as a couple and the principal manages to give a speech that silences them (that and the head protester's husband tells her to "sit down and be still"). Doesn't sound too bad, but there were a few problems: the gay couple are no longer shown after the protest starts so we don't even know their feelings on it, never see them dance at the prom, know their names or see them again; the principal is congratulated by a gay kid for all the great work he's done for gay people while (s)he is hiding behind some props (you can only see a hand) and is then never mentioned again, and the principal and his wife are then named prom king and queen for all of his good work.

Define 'decent'. 'Cause I don't see it even in Dobbo's earlier works.

Geez, what parasite in his mind thought that that...thing would be acceptable to post on the internet? But trust me, between ACP and Ripping Friends, this is far from the most immature thing he's done. Stupid? Maybe, Ugly as sin, oh of course. But definitely not the most immature.

Also, Johnny boy shouldn't be talking about off model when even his own shit didn't have good quality control.

It's gotten to the point that most people have realized the only reason the original Ren and Stimpy was good was the rest of the creative staff - Bob Camp, Chris Reccardi, Vincent Waller, Richard Pursel, Bill Wray, and the rest.

Bill Wray apparently had a bad experience when John K. invited him to do a DVD commentary for the show. (None of the people who stayed on the show when John was booted off got to do a DVD commentary otherwise.)

Decent as in he had potential with a lot of hard work and practice but he squandered it

I think John K, deep down, is just a more successful Jon Sweet.

He's obsessed with bodily functions and farts and feces, reactionary as hell, and most of his writing is him bleating like a shit-covered animal over imaginary slights when its plainly obvious he was insufferable to be around.

Never really liked Ren and Stimpy (relied too often on vulgarity), but I have heard some pretty nasty things about John K. While I don't really dislike him, his constant shitting on cartoons that aren't his is incredibly dickish.

The main reason he was fired from his own cartoon was that he not only wasn't making his deadlines, he was incredibly hard to work with.

The people who stayed behind put all their frustrations in an episode called "Reverend Jack," where Ren and Stimpy are the assistants of a deranged reverend who preaches about meat. If you watch it with the idea that the reverend represents John K., and Ren and Stimpy are the Games Animation people, everything will fall into place...
