Before Mark Tatulli created the Lio strip, he had another strip called Heart of the City. It ran in many a newspaper, but didn’t reach the success that Lio did. In 2020, Tatulli decided that he wanted to quit Heart of the City because he wanted to focus more on Lio and a series of graphic novels. He passed on the strip to a nonbinary artist who draws the strip in a CalArts style and added a bunch of alphabet people to the strip.
I find this action to be massively hypocritical because in the Lio strip, Tatulli frequently criticizes the newspapers for still running outdated zombie strips, but subjected his original strip to an arguably worse fate than what Hagar the Horrible or Blondie has endured.
